  1. 1. What Heritage speakers have you owned, currently own, or want to own? Heresy, 1981 2. What was your age when you first purchased a Heritage series loudspeaker? 38 3. What is your current age? 58 4. Why did you choose Heritage loudspeakers over another Klipsch model? I have always admired Klipsch speakers after hearing a pair of Klipschhorns. They were far to expensive. I was able to purchased these used in 1985. 5. If you currently own some Heritage loudspeakers, and could purchase some more Klipsch speakers(new or used), which ones would you purchase? Why? Still admire Klipchorns. I have not heard another speaker that is as satisfying sonically. 6. Do you think the upcoming Jubilee should become part of the "Heritage" line, since it was also designed by PWK? I fully agree, I had the opportunity to hear that speaker on the first Hope Tour with PWK in attendence. Bill J.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. Bill J.
  3. Hi Doug, it has been a long time since I have been on the forum. It great to hear from you. That is a wonderful suggestion. I should have done my homework, but I had a burglary and my Denon DVM-3300 was one of the items taken. The DVM-4800 is its replacement, so I really did not do much research. This new player has some added features over the old one. Bill J.
  4. Thats what I was afraid of, my Denon only has one set. Any other ideas short of purchasing a new receiver? Bill J.
  5. I have a new Denon DVM-4800 DVD Player/Changer connected to a Denon AVR-3300. For DVD-A does the unit need to be connected to the 5.1 inputs on the receiver or will the 5 channel audio play through the optical cable. I have a SACD player that is currently utilizing the 5.1 jacks actually they are the EXT jacks on the receiver. I cannot seem to find the correct answer in the owners manual.

I first heard Klipschorns and fell in love with the Klipsch product line. I thought the Hereseys would be the closest I would ever get to the Klipsch sound. 5. Klipschorns, I just believe they are the best sounding speaker I have ever hear. 6. Yes, I had an opportunity to hear a prototype of that speaker on the First Hope Tour. I will never forget it.
  7. Gosh, I missed this. I have not been on the forum for awhile -- shame on me. But it surely looked like everyone had a great time. Being a member of the original group, I can only imagine how much fun everyone had. The Klipsch folks are wonderful to give us the opportunity to visit their facilities. I will be watching for next year's trip. Bill James Klipsch Fan Tour of Hope

I had always wanted Klipsch since the first time I heard Khorns. The K's were much to large and clearly out of my price range at the time. A associate purchased my Heresy's for his parents. They decided that they did not want them. They had very little use when I purchased them. I've only be able to realize the full potential of them recently when I upgraded my system. They are 20 years old and to my ears sound incredible. I now have the sound I have always dreamed of. 5. I would probably purchased Khorns, my only problem now is space to put them. But if ever I move to another house, the placement and room for a pair of Khorns will definitely be the deciding factor. 6. Be a part of the 'Heritage' line.
  9. John, keep me in the loop on this. I do not visit the forum as often as I would like, but I am definitely wanting to attend. June seems to be fine. What kind of letters do you have in mind and to whom?
  10. Just a point of reference. On the Hope Tour we visited Mr. K. In his home, he did not have his Khorns in corners, but rather had built false corners for them. So I would assume that false corners work very well.
  11. Rob, it really depends on the SACD CD you purchase. Only the multi-channel ones will give sound from all speakers and is also dependent on how the music was mixed. I have more SACDs that are 2 channel than I have mult-channel. What I notice most about my SACD player is the clarity of sound which I believe is the most compelling reason to own a SACD player. Also check your settings on the player. The Sony's have adjustments that have to be made within the player to effect balance and surround modes. Some also have bass management. Enjoy!
  12. John, keep me informed of your progress. I am very interested in attending. Mid-June or anytime will be a good time for me. I'm looking forward to see everyone again. As you said I have never regretted our trip to Hope. It will always remain a very fond memory. Particularly in meeting Mr. K and Miss Valerie. Bill J.
  13. John, if I'm being counted as on the fence -- I vote for Indy.
  14. Gil/John, thanks for getting this started. I am interested in such trip. My preference would be Indy, however, I would not be opposed to returning to Hope. It would be wonderful to see everyone again and some new faces as well. Keep me posted. Bill James Oklahoma City
  15. As a owner of both a SACD -- 222ES and a Rega Planar 3. I find that I enjoy both. My SACD IMOP is the best CD player I have ever owned. Both of these machines are recent acquisitions. I still have close to 300 LPs and have started a collection of SACDs. I think each have thier merits. But I must say SACD will blow you away with the proper setup. ------------------ Bill J. 16. My C222ES player does have bass management. I have go access it through the menu on the player. It give me options to engage the subwoofer function. But it is dependent on the media being played. If I am playing a SACD through the analog 5.1 inputs the subwoofer is active. This is not the case if for me when I play a standard CD. The digital tracks are not picked up through the analog outputs. Although I find that standard CDs sound just a pleasing through the analog outputs. The bass is cleaner and more natural then in the digital domain. My music preference is classical, so for me it is not essential that I have a thumping bass. SACDs are fantastic in their clarity. Get the cables and get out your favorite CDs and switch between the analog and digital and I think you will be surprised. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System
  17. Owned a 1218 at one time and it provide excellent and trouble-free service. I still own recordings that was played on it. No noticeable damage to the recordings. They still sound excellent. I would say $20-30 dollars would be a fair price considering condition and age of the player. I would make sure that it the platter spins and has not frozen up due to inactivity. I have a Denon TT that was given to me that was DOA. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System
  18. MaxG, I have the Snell Mahler 10 both on LP and SACD and I must say that there is very little difference if any between the 2 recordings. I agree with the soundstage of the SACD going through my Herseys is awesome. I think I can go as far to say this is true with regular CDs. These players are phenomenal. ------------------ Bill J. 19. I have been fortunate with my Panamax 1000. I get dead silence with my input sources. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System
  20. All I can say is WOW. I purchased a similiar pair of KSP-6s two years ago (mint) for $650. Individual had purchased them and his wife objected to the color. She thought the white ones were better suited for thier decor. I don't believe they had 10 hours of use. I have been extremely happy with them. The narrow width of the KSP-6s fits my listening room better than the the RS-7s and matches up with my Heresy's and RC-3 quite nicely. Don't believe I would part with them at any price. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System
  21. Outstanding Tony, I will make plans to attend. Thanks for keeping us posted. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System This message has been edited by willjam on 02-12-2002 at 11:08 PM
  22. There has been several posts in the past of this forum pro and con on surge protectors and line conditioners. I have a Panamax 1000+ mainly for peace of mind. Some posters feel that surge protectors will detract from the music, particularly the highs because of the line conditioning feature found in some units. My 1000+ has such a feature but, I have not noticed and significant difference in the sound of my system. I'm not familiar with the particular model that you are looking at, but I have had good service so far out of mine. I have had a surge that causes the Panamax to kick in. ------------------ Bill J. 23. Speaker matching is a issue that is discuss frequently on this forum. However, realistically following through can be an expensive proposition as well as other issues of concern. Such as not having the space or in the case of the heritage series not having any true matched units. You have to go with your ears and budget. However, you are making a good start. Get what you can at this point and build from there. Make note of the weaknesses in your system and plan to improve with the next investment. Use your ears to determine what is best for your given situation. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System
  24. I'm using a RC-3 with my Heresy's and have been very happy with the outcome. I know you will hear alot of discussion regarding timbre matching, but I have found that not to be a huge problem. At least in my system the RC-3 blends very well. I would recommend you go with a stronger center. Remember in HT the majority of the sound you will be hearing will becoming from the center. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System
  25. My Sony c222ES to my ears sounds significantly better than my Denon DVM-3700 DVD. Even regular CDs come through with clarity that I have not heard before. I have been surprised. My purchase could be considered an impulse buy. I attended an open house given by my Audio dealer with a friend who had come along specifically to buy this particular unit. This unit was on sale for $600.00. My friend had auditioned it the week before and was really impressed by the sound. So at his recommendation I also purchased one. I have never had a truly dedicated CD player always relying on combos. I think I made a really great spare of the moment decision. ------------------ Bill J. My Music System
