  1. Ray G., you look so intelligent in your Avatar[] You think your CD's sound good? You need to go here: http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue22/cjdiaries.htm Don't blame me if you go off and spend $575.00 + $156.00 for blanks and fluids either[] Just poking you on that first line as you seem so sure of your perception[] Peace Out[H]
  2. I'm blushing[] Seti, you are too kind! I have to give all the credit to my awesome wall mounted rack and of course that little BAT VK-P5 pre[] Analog is where your music starts out and really for the best sound where it ends or comes out those speakers. I will never deny that digital is the most user friendly format on the planet but falls way short of a good analog rig and cleaning is essential but well worth the time and effort in my book. Sure I'm a 50 year old neanderthal but my ears have never lied to me and I enjoy the vinyl ritual. In our fast paced I can't wait world today I find vinyl a peaceful retreat. I'll take a ritual and physical lobor to flip to the other side over convenience and laziness any day O'the week[:@] Don't get me wrong here folks because listening to music anytime anywhere comes first and foremost for this music lover and I do have a MD Recorder (Compressed anyone) for my portable Sharp and Blaukpunt car rigs as well as my mini pod but when I'm really serious it's back to the proverbial table[] Keep rockin' gang and great thread Duke[]
  3. And if you are of smaller wallet this week these are also avail! http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1137344005
  4. Sweet Price on them also[] http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1137416778
  5. The big horn on the left speaker was a 402! I forgot what Roy said was on the right one. I have always been a two way fan since my Advent Larger days and as I said when I walked out of Roy's demo. When I build our new HT we will have the 402 Jubilee's as our mains period, end of discussion[]
  6. Dee I hope you have recovered even more since Tony' post and I speak for Seti and myself we truly hope you a fast and speedy recovery[]
  7. I am soon establishing a long relationship with BEC! []
  8. Correct on the Artist and the song is Rabbit Fighter off "The Slider" Did anyone ever take a stab at: "Sittin' on a spinning top...........hoping time ain't gonna stop"[]
  9. That is an absolute riot Dragon[^o)]
  10. Loved it Wuzzer, it's the anticipation of what you think your fixin' to see[]
  11. Let me give the opening line to this one and take yourself back to the 70's[] "Shady Politician in my bed"
  12. The boys are back in town (Phil and the Lizzies)[] "Tying Bolts of lightning to his head"
  13. JB, Sunday, Bloody Sunday "sittin' on a spinning top........hoping time ain't gonna stop......"
  14. A pleasure and real joy to be around[] Hope we have another Hope gathering next year with him there or it will seem incomplete[] He also works wonders with ones aura[]
  15. Cute Amy but I run my LaScalla's with mine! I like the look and I'm sure it sounds way better than the Blose or JBL unit[]
  16. Great setup CTP, I know it will grow and change as you do! I had my first system shipped to me when I was 11 by my older brother who was stationed in Germany (1968). He sent me his used Grundig valve shortwave stereo which had 2 two way speakers (3/4 inch tweets & 10" woofs), the crazy thing had DIN plugs all over it so I went to a pawn shop and bought an old Dual turn table and had a shop custom build a DIN to fit my Grundig. I put a (probably from the proto runs) Sure V15 cartridge on it and the rest is history as they would say! So 37 years later and look were I am today[]
  17. CrazyTube, just get yourself a copy of Passion! Gabriel's take on the "Last temptation of Christ"
  18. I don't know Duke, at 6 grand for a new pair these look a lot sweeter for his asking price!
  19. Seti is the real joker here NOSValves as he knows first hand my listening room is only 8 1/2 feet wide! I plan on (W/WAF) putting my Scally's in our living room as the mains on my HT system. Of course I do have an idea of some other items I'm going to pick up to run them in a 2 channel setup but once I have them parted out they will be house puppy's from that point on. I have been wanting to put together a flea setup with them from the time I knew I was going to get them. This will probably make many cringe on this forum but I have this crazy Idea I can run my (Dare I say it) MiniPod straight into one of those Zvex imP amps at 1 watt per side at 12 Ohms! If a guy can be driving a pair of 98db monitors with good room filling sound surely I can crank them on 104db[] I can't wait to show people listening the power and source[] If it fails to drive them there is always my BAT VK-200[] Here is a shot of my babies courtesy of Mr. Cuemanaz (Many Thanks Todd)[]
  20. Right you are Larry, have not heard from you since Hope! I think what most people will find is that any valve amp with valve phono stage has lots more real estate taken up by the valve phono stage than the amp section itself if it's a good one. You are also correct in that both the BAT VK-P5 and P10 have 10 tubes each (4 6922s, 2 6SN7s and 4 6C45s) unless you go SE Super Pak with the 6H30 super tube. I think I would look for a used VK-P5 before going with the Solid State board on a VK-3 but that is only my opinion and we all know about those[]
  21. Excellent question Danny, however this rack was given to me by my good buddy who is Manager of a Dillards Department store loading dock. It was used for merchandise display and he had taken it home for his wife to keep shoes of all things on. When he remodeled their bedroom/bath and gave here a 16' X 16' walk in closet he said that if I wanted it that I could have it and I knew immediately what I was going to do with it. One day several weeks back we were talking about it and he told me that when he took it home they threw out (Garbaged) about 2 dozen more of these full rack systems which come with 9 of the shelf units each. I could have gone into business! HaHa The main rails in the back are 2" round thick wall tubes with notches cut into them to receive dog ears that are on the shelf end plates. The shelves are just screwed into the shelf plates. On the back of the main tubes are 4 extension fingers that have U-Channels welded to them. The U-Channels drop down onto (Not sure if you can see them in the photo) a solid steel bar that is 1/2" thick and 2" wide X 24" long, one 1/4 way down and one 1/4 way up on the main tubes. I have the 2 steel bars butterfly mollied to the back wall. Not wanting the weight of my gear to pull it off the wall I did the fat daddy test on it before any gear went on. That test consisted of my big 230lb butt sitting on the second shelf up for 2 hours while I read stereo rags[] Sure wish I could have had all his dicarded racks now!! Thanks for asking and have a good one[]
  22. Indeed and thanks for recognizing it to be from the Usual Suspects! I recently had to explain it to a few of the other Klipsch enthusiast at the Hope gathering. I have tried to attach a file of my system! All I have to do now is finish the rebuild on my newly aquired LaScalla cabs[]
  23. Sounds like a sweet setup Boomac, the VK-P3 is Solid State only and I'm pretty sure Victor has not designed a plug and play valve phono card yet! I have a BAT VK-3i and VK-P5 valve phono stage which was/is one of the 2 stand alone valve phono stages they offer but an excellent unit I might add. I wish I could find someone in my area who owned the full blown SE VK-P10 so I could see just how much better it sounds than my VK-P5! You can pick the VK-P5 up on AudioGon from $800.00 to $1,200.00 just about any time. Good luck[]
