  1. "My Wife".... 's in jeopardy. The Who. Cool tune. Next: "We go dancing nighty in the attic While the moon is rising in the sky If I'm too rough, tell me I'm so scared your little head will come off in my hands"
  2. Michael, please listen to side 1 of "Moonflower." "Yo le digo, caballero..."
  3. That's a good one, Michael. LOL. Funny, but it's in my Classic rock collection - misfiled, of course. "You le digo, caballero, que Michael habla un chiste. Si, el habla un chiste. Si, el habla un chiste." What's that tune remind you of?
  4. I think you're right they we you have it, Michael. Klipsch seems to be made for rocking. Don't want to rock? Get some B & W's. [] Actually, I was impressed with those little Bose speakers in terms of how they get that kind of sound through them. Not rockers, though.
  5. It's Corns for what you're describing you want. Get Dr. Who to take his Chorus over to Pete's. You'll hear the difference. I have KHorns. I ruled them out because you did. But, when you get to Pete's, try his KHorns as well. My bass test for my KHorns vs. my Cornwalls has to be Yes's "Roundabout." At the end of the song, when Chris Squier hits that "deep, warbling" bass note, the Khorns do it the most justice I've ever heard. Be sure to bring that song with you.
  6. Derek and the Dominoes, "Bell Bottom Blues" Next: Ouch!!!!! What? Did you beat me by 3 seconds? Look at the time-stamps. Michael, please help the lady settle on Corns for her hubby on the "Upgrading in Chicagoland" thread in Technical (or was it 2-way?).
  7. Here an addition to my documentary about my Corns vs.my friend's Chorus. My friend, who is in Houston, had his Chorus for a while, and he came up with some other friends to my place in Austin at the time (I was going to school there). We were getting ready for a summer road trip to Colorado, and I thought I'd crank a few tunes before we left. His reaction was "Oh, my God!" True story. EDIT: I just re-read the posts and your priorities. I need to add ".... and the bass will knock you on your butt." If you rock loud as you say, Rush's YYZ is phenomenal through Corns. You will be absolutely blown away.
  8. Meagain, Dr Who is knowledgeable about alot of technical aspects, but keep in mind it is impossible to describe in words what he might be saying. For example, he says the Cornwall is in your face, and the Chorus sounds weaker, but just as forward. Know what that means? I don't, except that I have heard both speakers. I have Corns, and my friend has Chorus. I told him not to buy those Chorus. But anyway, if Dr. Who would have left off the last "just as forward," he'd be right on the money. Cornwall is more in your face. They are killer for rock, disco, jazz, orchestra. I do not think a majority would put Chorus over Cornwall, but if they did, I'd suck it up as not being in the majority. Chorus is comparable, but not as good as Cornwall. It's what you get if you need a cheaper and/or smaller profile speaker than the Cornwall. Chorus is very good, and I doubt you would be disappointed in them. You'd just be disappointed when you later heard a Cornwall (properly of course) and remembered my advice. Plus, Chorus are mdf.... bad. Corns really sound so great. Make a date with Pete in your area since he offered. Once you hear those Corns, you'll be sold - as long as Pete has a serious amp and will crank them nicely. You've got to hear them full bore, whether you will regularly use them that way or not. Really, a serious amp is imperative. Not a mid-fi Marantz or something. When I bought mine, they were hooked up to a mid-fi Marantz, and the Corns sounded no better than my old mid-fi Pioneer HPM 100 speakers. My brother was with me and told me to "have faith" since the seller had only a mid-fi amp. I had faith, bought them, ran them through a Crown Microtech 1200, and they blew my doors away. Corns are that good.
  9. Here might be a shot at testing my theory. Hooting-monkey always sees Klipsch displayed well at his local Best Buy. Compare sales of Klipsch at his Best Buy to say, the Best Buy at the 9000 block of either I-10 (Katy Freeway) or Old Katy Road in Houston. It is probably known as Old Katy Road and not Katy Freeway or I-10, but I gave them all so a comparison can be made.
  10. Uh....... "Never Been to Spain" by Three Dog Night. Next: "So, this ain't the end - I saw you again today I had to turn my heart away You smile like the sun - kisses for everyone And tails - it never fails!"
  11. Yours is "Out on the Tiles" by Led Zep. Next: "Oh it's simple, All the pain that you go through You can turn away from fortune, fortune, Cause that's all that's left to you It's lonely at the bottom, Man, it's dizzy at the top But if you're standing in the middle, Ain't no way you're gonna stop"
  12. There you go! Check out Pete's Cornwalls. You'll like them. Of course, you'll like the KHorns sound more, but $$$$ and space.... Okay, guys and gals! Any bets on what they will wind up buying?
  13. Yes, you would! Go with what you just said. No more inquiries needed. Cornwalls are a great bang for the buck. I'd get Cornwalls of solid wood, as opposed to mdf (if they ever began making Cornwalls with mdf). Solid wood is far superior IMO. Not for sound, but durability and long-lasting beauty with the ability to re-finish nicks and scrapes.
  14. I'll throw this in as a suggestion to Klipsch as well. I don't think putting alot of money into training come-and-go sales guys at Best Buy will remotely pay-off. Just a working set-up is all that is needed, along with a sales rep who is given the lattitude to crank it. The speakers should sell themselves. Me? I don't know alot about what makes these speakers stand apart from Bose or Pioneer, nor do I even care. You can tell this by my previous posts, asking some of the why's to these questions. Fact is, what I've learned will not change my opinion. I got the speakers FIRST because I heard them when my brother bought them. Hearing them is all I needed to know. So, all that is needed is working displays. Make them tamper-proof - even as to sales goofs, and make them so they can't be stripped for sale as demo components. I'd say you'd be 95% there. Klipsch, please send your check in the amount of $10,000 to my attention for this great advice. Alternatively, a gift card in the same amount will be fair compensation as well. Unless you have a more long-term lucrative offer. []
  15. "Have a Cigar" by Pink Floyd Next: "There's an angel on my shoulder, In my hand a sword of gold Let me wander in your garden. And the seeds of love I'll sow. You know."
  16. Glad to see Amy's thoughts and to know they are aware of the issue. Me? I think it's pretty simple. A handful of regional guys that do little more than run around checking to see that displays are tidy and operational. What I can't fathom is why they would EVER be non-operational. I connect all the cables to my stereo, and it NEVER becomes non-operational. Once you set it up, it should work forever. The only thing I gather is the sales goofs at Best Buy keep swapping components and maybe selling displays. That way, they are constantly messing around and risking getting beyond their limited skill sets - like many don't know it's red to red, black to black. I'd set my displays up so that the sales goofs could not get in them - the same as customers. I'd also set the speakers up so they are not salable as display items. Some sort of mounting or something to make them not desirable for taking home. This stuff at Best Buy is way fungible - not like Klipschorns where the mom and pop dealer needs the option of selling the display. But really, there's no excuse - not just for Klipsch but Best Buy as well. If they say they are too swamped during the Holiday Season, they should keep in mind that it is this time of the year when these items ought to go like hot cakes. Think of all the missed sales - not just folks who would buy then and there, but folks who wondered what Klipsch was about - and if they HEARD it, might decide to put some priority into saving or planning for a future purpose. These folks are not likely to return, having not been given a special reason to do so. So, they go on, still not knowing about Klipsch.... and later, not recalling what the funny named speakers were called. They just forget it. Big time lost opportunities! If I was Klipsch, I'd pay to do it myself before I left it in the hands of a gorilla institution like Best Buy. Reason? Their JBL display did not work. Their "this" did not work, and their "that" did not work. Really, nothing worked.
  17. I see your point, there, but I'd focus on letting them have exposure to all those things and decide for themselves what they like. They might still gravitate toward dolls and play-houses, but that's okay. But if they find they like hi-fi, guns and race cars, I say go for it! Women have come a long way and have entered many professions long dominated by men. So, these days, I have no concerns whatsoever. If a woman wants to be a lawyer, doctor, scientist, architect, etc., there are already plenty there, and the avenues are wide open for the taking. Equal pay is a bit of a different issue. I am bothered by its remaining and unresolved problem - but far from insurmountable for the woman who persists. Great gains are made for women one woman at a time. But then, who are we to define what "great gains" are? These observations are not too far away from a subtle discounting of traditional womens' roles.
  18. I went to my local Best Buy last night just for the heck of it. I thought I would check out the Klipsch just to see how they display them and maybe hear these series that I've never heard. They have these display gadgets where the receiver is locked inside a box, and you press these outside button configurations to sample the speakers. The thing did not even work. Here, we have a seller who is supposed to be selling speakers that are supposed to set themselves apart from the run of the mill crud out there. But nobody could test them. What a joke. I'd suppose the only people who would buy Klipsch are those who know something about them to begin with. So much for expanding your market. But I bet Klipsch was delighted to sell to Best Buy for volume's sake alone - even if a better job could be done. But think about this, Klipsch. If Best Buy was doing it right, your sales through them might even double. I'd put a force together of sales reps who go monitor and correct things like this. I've seen a few similar posts to mine in this forum, so I know my experience was not an isolated incident. Klipsch, make me an offer, and I will get this under control.
  19. Heard the song, but can't place it. Since you authorized and time has flown by, try this: "I am all there is Negative! primitive! limited! I let you live! But I gave you life What else could you do? To do what was right Im perfect! are you?"
  20. Marvel, I wasn't aiming anything at you in a serious way and hope you did not take it as anything other than goofing around. But, cutting through all the sarcasm, I will maintain there is a difference between men and women, generally. That's why this hi-fi site is a magnet for men more than women. That's why more men ride motorcycles than women. If it wasn't for these differences, the distinction between the sexes would be more blurred, and there would be far less to appreciate. And in case anyone is looking for something in here to recoil at, note that I never claimed anything makes men superior to women, nor do I believe women should be paid less than men for the same work, nor should they be excluded from military combat if they want to fight wars the hard way, etc. Nobody should be denied their dreams and ambitions and a fair playing field.
  21. For $150, that's a steal in any shape. But you can get that formica off, and I would. There will likely be to much glue resin and damage underneath to restore the original wood. However, you can buy sheets of veneer and re-veneer them. There have been a good number of threads with people posting some photos of their DIY re-veneer jobs. Folks, you know who you are. Why don't you post your pics for John? Congratulations and good luck!
  22. No, check the hint. I was kidding around about how the youngsters might consider this Classic. It's actually more recent than Classic, but we've all heard it a million times. []
