  1. This is an old post but i wanted to post a follow up. I have owned the Peach II for over a year and I have done several A/B tests with my Rotel receiver while in HT Bypass mode and I have often wondered what difference the Peach actually made. My Peach actually had a random part fail so I have been without it for the past few weeks. Two things. 1.) The Peach certainly makes a huge difference. The Rotel sounds flat, thin and somewhat harsh by comparison. 2.) Even though this should not be technically possible, I am convinced that even in Bypass mode the Peach makes the Rotel sound better.
  2. I am already using a Peach II as a preamp and B&K for an amp. How much would i stand to gain from going all tube? I have heard that 80% of the "tube sound" comes from the preamp.
  3. How about the MC275? It looks powerful and the reivews are stellar.
  4. Makes sense. But with 102db sensitve speakers wouldn't 60 watts get you to 120db? Is the total SPL the only thing to consider or do tubes not handle dynamics as well.
  5. What is the downside to using the tubes for HT and music, besides tube life? Would something like the BAT VK-55se (55 watts) be sufficient to drive the RF-7s for movies as well? BAT claims their tubes last 5+ years and since the Peach has to be on for HT mode, might as well have the tube amp as my sole amp.
  6. never thought about that. Is that as simple as connecting each amp to the respective connectors on the RF-7s? Also how do you switch between the B&K and the VRD? Does a switch or selector box degrade the sound?
  7. I currently have the RF-7s with a Peach II preamp and a B&K 200.2 amplifier. I am happy with the sound but curious what a tube amp would bring. Anyone using the RF-7 with a tube amp? I am using them for music and HT. I would want a low maintenance option. I think BAT has an auto bias feature.
  8. yes the Peach off then on again. However, i changed out the power supply tube and the problem stil remains, in fact it cut off today and it won't cut back on.
  9. I have the Peach II and it recently shut off and then right back on again. This happened a few times so I e-mailed Mark and he recomended changing the tube in the power supply. The unit has worked fine for the last few days and I changed the outlet that the unit is plugged into. When the unit cuts off it always comes right back on like a short interuption in power. Could this be the a power issue from the wall or is the rectifier tube the most obvious problem? Everything i have read about a rectifier failure indicates that the unit would not power up at all. I will change out the tube once i determine that it is not the wall.
  10. would using the mono switch on my peach II on the stereo mix be comparable to the mono version?
  11. Zu is selling their speakers directly again and the price of the Essence is now $3,600. I am still happy with my RF-7s but this new price has me even more interested. Anyone heard the Essence?
  12. I just wanted to alert any fellow music lover of this incredible band. I have been following them for a while now and they are on the verge of hitting it big. They have a new album scheduled to be released in Sept. that I predict will put them on the national map. Check them out on iTunes, Grooveshark or directly on their web-site. The songwriting talent is up there with some of the best of all time.
  13. I think discussing other brands makes sense since we have a common frame of reference in Klipsch. I have found that on other forums, like the Martin Logan forum, the members have very different listening taste than I do and their opinion is therefore not as valid. I have RF-7s and love them but the Zus look interesting. I am curious how the Essence would compare to the RF-7s
  14. i've read jus the flagship, p-39F
  15. Anyone? Anyone hear the Zu Essence?
  16. I have a question about these 2 subs. I currently own the RSW-15 and have been very happy but may upgrade in the future. I have read great things about the F113 but wonder how a sub with one 13 inch driver could compete with one that has 2 15s? Does the RSW-15 really have 2 15 inch drivers, since one is passive? I understand that the F113 gets excellent reviews and has excellent excursion but can it compete with the RSW-15 in music and movies?
  17. Own the Peach curious how it compares to the Cary?
  18. How would you describe the sound? How is the imaging? Do you have a center channel or strictly 2 channel?
  19. I already own the RF-7s, have for 5 years. I am happy with the sound but always curious what else is out there. I want more midrange presence while still maintaing the dynamics of the RF-7s. The P-37Fs look interesting (not happy they are made in China) and the Zu Essence look like a potential. I have also read great things about the upcoming Gallo Acoustics Ref 3.5. I ask on the Klipsch forum because I know that Klipsch owners value the same type of sound that I do but I am open to trying other brands if the price/performance is there.
  20. Any thoughts on these new speakers from Zu? I read a few reviews online and they get great reviews, would like to know how they compare to the RF-7 for 2 channel.
  21. I was looking online to find the 6H30 tube for my Peach II and could only find the following: 6H30Pi tubes and 6H30 DRs. Are the DR or Pi versions compatible? Also, I have never changed out tubes, how easy is this to do? I don’t even know how to open to chassis.
  22. Any suggestions for a Media Console/Credenza that has enough space for the RC-7? I want something made of wood that will hold the RC-7 in the middle and can accomodate 6 components on the sides. Standout designs has something very close but would like some additional suggestions. The center channel opening below is 25 3/4 inches wide, 1/4 inch shy of the RC-7.
  23. I have typically kept my amp on 24/7 but this would be a simple solution. I do not keep the Peach on 24/7 just all day on Sat and Sun since I listen through out the day. It is easier to switch the Peach into HT mode when I am not listening then Standby or Off because of the poping. I can certainly just turn off the amp to avoid any popping but then the amp is cold as well (maybe that does not matter)
  24. Thanks, I wonder if I burn the tubes more in the HT mode than in the Stand by mode?
  25. I have a quick question for Peach II owners. When I am not listening to the Peach on the weekends I often keep the unit ON and in the HT setting. My reasoning is I can quickly turn the unit to the LO or HI mode for listening without waiting for warm up or the MUTE function. The MUTE function is what I am avoiding, the unit often lets out a loud pop when I engage the Hi or Lo mode. The only way to avoid this is to turn the unit on in HT mode and wait several minutes before engaging the Hi or Lo, the problem is I have no I idea how long to wait. I realize this is what the Stand By mode is intended for but the HT setting is a quicker option. Is there a downside to this solution?
