  1. Michael, Thanks, you were right. My "random" placing of the speaker actually generated the greatest amount of interference. I moved it back 3-4" and everything was grand. Thanks again!
  2. I recently received about half of my order of Klipsch speakers (got the front half, the back is on, well, back order). They are the Synergy F-3 system. I'm loving them except for one thing. The C-3 is great, but is causing magnetic distortion on the TV. I have a 30" Insignia HDTV (yeah, if you can't tell, I work at BBY). I had to raise the C-3 ~6-8" before the magnetic distortion stopped occuring. Should I have expected this? According to the product description, both woofers and the tweeter are magnetically shielded. Yeah, I know, buy a DLP or LCD TV/projector but that is not really an option. I love the sound out of the box - haven't had time to do any tweaking to make it "perfect." It just looks kind of tacky to have my nice C-3 sitting on a stack of books to raise it high enough to get rid of the distortion. Do I have unrealistic expectations of the magnetic shielding or might something else be wrong? Thanks!
  3. As an employee of BestBuy, I have the opportunity to get some of the Synergy line at a really good price. Because of this, I am tempted to go all out and get an F-3 system (F-3s, C-3, 2 pairs of S-3, and sub-12). However, I am pretty sure that these are too "big" in terms of sound for pretty much any room I have or will have in the next 5 years (or more). My other option is the Quintet III w/ a sub-10 or sub-12. I know it depends on the actual dimensions of the room and acoustical properties, but are these sets rated for an approximate square footage? For example, don't get the F-3 system if you have less than x square feet or the Quintets sound great if you no more than y square feet. Also, the Klipsch web page for the Quintets recommend pairing them with a sub-10. Is the sub-12 too "big" for the quintets? Another bonus with going with the quintets is that I would not need as big of a receiver. Pros and cons anyone? TIA!
  4. I'm looking at setting up a Sub-12 connected to a Yamaha HTR-5990 for primarily HT. I've noticed that there are three ways of connecting the Sub-12 - LFE, Pre-out left and right (RCA), and left and right high levels. Is there any one way that stands out as the better way to connect the sub? Or is it a matter of personal preference and wiring allowances? Any suggestions/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
  5. I am getting ready to purchase some of the Synergy III series speakers. I have two main questions. First, as I look around at receivers, many of them are at or going towards a 7.1 speaker configuration. Is this really used by anything? Is there an advantage in getting the extra set of surround speakers? Secondly, I've browsed the forums and I have seen multiple people bashing Monster cables. However, they seem to be bashing the commercialization and price of the cables, not the quality. I have the opportunity for a pretty good discount on them, but before I make such a decision, can anyone speak to their quality? Oh, and I guess I have a third question too... Are there any links to "typical" or optimal physical location setup for the Synergy speakers in either 5.1 or 7.1 configurations? I know it depends a lot on the room and physical layout, but, for example, I've seen some people suggest on the forums that in the 5.1 configuration to put the surround speakers on the side walls towards the back third of the room or so instead of on a back wall. Again, I realize that a lot of people are going to say "it depends" but is there anywhere to find good guidelines? Thanks!
