  1. Tried a GFA-5802 once. Blew up the first day. “Smoke on the amp stand”. Exit stage left.
  2. I trust my own experience. Others can believe what they want. That’s them not me. BTW it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with steady state absolute spl levels.
  3. In my case I’ve used many types of amplification and can state without reservation this is by far and away the best sounding power amp I have ever had. The tube preamp ads a touch of magic.
  4. Amp is not very well known here the Alluxity Power One stereo amplifier. Extremely good. The preamp is the ModWright LS100. Tubes are a prerelease evaluation of new USA production 6SN7 due for release later this year.
  5. After 40+ years of using the same Klipschorns in my main system with many kinds and types of amplification I find my recent total amplification change to a new tube pre and powerful SS amplifier has given me the best results I’ve ever had and by a substantial margin. Anyone else here found that a similar setup suits their preferences?
  6. No. Not in a great space. But I’ve used my Klipschorns in many differing spaces and they perfectly suit me. I’m an average 85db- 95db listener.
  7. Klipschorns. I’d never change mine unless absolutely necessary like having to move into a shared space like a condo. Spent over 40 years now and finally optimized the driving electronics to my liking.
  8. Agree. I found with my Klipschorns the combo of my new tube preamplifier and great SS amplification that works wonders for me. Best sound with the same speakers I’ve been using exclusively in main system for almost 50 years now. BTW ran La Scalas before that.
  9. Way back ran my Klipschorns with a KR amp using KR 300BXLS tubes. Great sound for what it was. Heard really good things about the WE 91E. I’ve taken quite a different direction now though.
  10. Many years ago I originally purchased La Scalas. It didn’t take very long to trade them in for Klipschorns. No comparison. I’ve been running them steadily in my main system for close to 50 years now and with my recent upgrade in driving electronics they perform substantially better than I ever hoped they could. Truly a “Lifelong” speaker system. So happy that I made that original choice so many years ago.
  11. Love my recently bought ModWright LS100 pre. Fantastic sound. Might be worth checking out. I feel it’s a really great bargain at its price.
  12. I’ve been using the same speakers for over 40 years now with all types of systems, all tube, tube pre and SS power, and All SS. I’ve just gone back to a tube preamp and SS power The system sounds better now than ever before in so many ways. Perfect balance for me.
  13. I’ve run my Klipschorns for well over 40 years now and with many different combinations of amplification. I’ve used tube pre/SS power, all tube and all SS systems. My new system is a tube preamp and an SS power amplifier. This is by far the best these speakers have sounded and by a rather large margin. The amplifier design, construction and performance is absolutely amazing in so many unexpected ways. Nothing previously has come close and it was immediately apparent. The amplifier is not very well known as it’s made in Denmark out of the Vitas family. The Alluxity Power One Stereo Amplifier.
  14. Wow, it’s great to know after 40+ years of use that my Klipschorns were meant to be placed in the corners. Imagine that!
  15. The pre has XLR outs but not fully balanced circuitry. The amp on the other hand is fully balanced. Since the signal would be in essence single ended and the runs are short I’ll probably stick with RCAs.
  16. Thanks. It’s been many years since I posted here.
  17. Thanks. I have wanted to get back to tubes in my chain after many years of all SS. I’ve had all sorts of amplification driving my Klipschorns over the years and a tube pre and SS combination does it for me. As a previous McIntosh owner I was on the verge of getting one until I ran into the Alluxity.
  18. Just upgrading my main system and wonder if anyone here has heard Klipschorns driven by the Danish Alluxity Power One SS Stereo amplifier and can offer their impressions. I have this amp and a ModWright LS100 tube preamp on order and awaiting arrival. Thanks.
  19. My take on it is an extremely positive review. It concenrates on the things that the speaker does best....reproducing music in a realistic, dynamic and enjoyable manner and, doing so while being driven with sensibly powered quality amplification and "front end". I enjoyed my La Scalas when I had them and certainly enjoy my Klipschorns now. Great review and one that will definitely open some eyes (and hopefully) some ears as to what the Klipsch "Heritage" line is all about....enjoyable and lifelike music reproduction. Too bad it has taken so long.
  20. Actually if you can find a good really strong leather headstrap........
