  1. Hi! I just bought soundcare superspikes to put under my Klipsch KLF 20´s and while attaching them I found out that they didn´t go all the way in so to speak and I found that a little bit weird. Aren´t they supposed to go all the way in? Although the speakers are steady and that I find that the base has improved significally I still wonder. Have any of you out there had this "problem" also? I´m not sure if they sell these spikes over there and if not here is a weblink for those of you who want to see what i´m talking about. Regards! Mike www.soundcare.no
  2. Hello! Unfortunately while it is only a rip in the membrane I saw a hole about an inch in diameter in the cone when I lifted the element up. The people i´ve been talking to over here in Sweden say I have to replace the whole base element and as AR are pretty unusual here it has to be shipped from the U.S. On the plusside it seems that my insurance company will help with costs regarding this matter and I think this is the best thing to do, to replace the whole thing that is. Thank you for your help though. Regards! Mike
  3. after speaking to several sources here in Sweden where I live it seems that I have to buy a new base element which will be shipped from the U.S. Too bad but I will read my insurance policy and see if something covers this sort of thing. Thank you for your inputs though. Mike
  4. Give me a day or so. Have to borrow a camera
  5. I also put this question in a different forum on this site. I managed to damage the paper membrane, i.e the material that you see if you turn your sub up side down. I made a crack about two inches long and how will I fix this? Will it affect the sub´s performance? Do I have to buy a whole new element and if so, where?. To clarify, there is nothing wrong with the base cone but the crack is in the material closest to the floor. It´s a "downfiring" 15" Acoustic Research ARS 500. Any ideas? Mike
  6. When moving my Acoustic Research ARS 500 15" sub I stumbled and made a crack at the bottom "papermembrane" of the sub with my knee, about two inches long. How will this affect the sub´s performance and how can I fix this problem. Can I fix it with some glue or do I have to buy a new element and in that case where? To clarify, there´s nothing wrong with the speakercone, it´s the membrane that has the crack. What to do? Mike

    low bass

Hi! I have a problem with a very low bass in my center speaker when I use the mode 7channel stereo. The rear center though, gives out plenty of bass. And no, I haven´t connected the speakers to the wrong terminal. In for example the Dolby Prologic II mode the center gives out all the bass I need. I just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as I do. I have the following setup: Denon 3802 receiver Klipsch KLF 20´s as fronts Klipsch KLF C-7 as center Klipsch KSP S-6´s as surrounds Klipsch RC-3 as rear center Yamaha YST-SW800 as sub Pioneer DV-737 as dvd Also, how do you guys set your speakers. I don´t find that much of a difference between small or large setup though there is a significant difference between setting the crossover to 80hz instead of for example 100hz. Any recommendations and hints will be appreciated. Regards! Mike
  8. Hi! I tried a lot of speaker settings and haven´t yet decided which one is the best. When I play music with Prologic II music setting I have bass in the front center so it´s funny that I don´t have it on 5/7 channel stereo. At first I thought I had a bad speaker cable but it works great with movies and, as I said, the Prologic II setting. When I watch TV on the Prologic II setting I can´t help but to feel that the center sounds a little bit flat, I mean it´s so big that I feel I could expect more but maybe I have expectations that are to high. And maybe TV-programs are not the correct element to decide the speaker capacity, although I have a digital cable box the sound isn´t like on a dvd disc. It would also be interesting to hear what you guys have set the different speaker channel levels on and which result this makes on the volume setting when watching movies. What I mean is which volume level you feel you have to use to give you a decent soundstage. I will experiment some more and I will also try a different center speaker cable to see if the fault lies there. I now have a Straight wire cable but will try with a monster cable. I hope you guys could help me some more. Regards. Mike
  9. Hello! I finally got my new receiver, the Denon 3802 and my setup is now as follows: -Denon 3802 receiver -Klipsch KLF 20´s as fronts -Klipsch KLF C-7 as front center -Klipsch RC-3 as rear center -Klipsch KSP S-6 as surrounds -Yamaha YST-SW800 as sub I have a few questions that I hope that someone could help me with: 1. As my Klipsch set-up works at 8ohm, is there some setup on the receiver that I have to make to receive the best sound? I know that a friend of mine set the receiver on 4ohm which gave him a boost in sound but I haven´t found such a setup on my receiver. 2. When I play music in 7 channel stereo i´m not getting any, or just very little, bass from my front center but a lot of bass from my rear center. Should it be this way. Is there some additional setup that I have missed? When I watch movies the bass is certainly there at the front center so it makes you wonder. Other than that this is a very competent receiver which works great with my Klipsches. The 6.1 versions of Gladiator and 7even are awesome. Hope that someone has time to help me. Regards. Mike.
  10. Hello! You can ignore this topic because I have solved the problem. Mike
  11. Hello! I just received my new Denon 3802 receiver and I have a problem right from the start. As speaker contacts I have these thick plug-ins, we call them banana plug-ins here in Sweden and maybe you do to, and on my former Sherwood receiver the only thing I had to do was to take out the little plugs on the speaker connectors and then plug in the bananas there. But now on the Denon I just can´t seem to take these plugs out so I don´t know what to do. Also, the connectors on the Denon are a little bit longer than on the Sherwood and if it so, that the bananas should be plugged in from behind so to speak, I get a feeling that they are to short to make a correct connection. It doesn´t seem right that I have to unscrew the connectors and force the bananas in there and then screw it back again. If some words seem funny to you guys it´s just because I don´t have the right ones to explain my problem. Please help me with my dilemma. Regards. Mike
  12. Hello! As my all around Klipsch speaker system run at 8 ohms, what does this mean for the receiver setting? Someone told me that I will have to adjust the settings in my Denon 3802 receiver so that the sound will be optimized. Can anyone point me in the correct direction I.E what setting will have to be made? Regards. Mike!
  13. Thanks HornEd! Does it matter then if I on the RC-3 connect to the upper or lower inputs as I can? Mike
  14. Hello! I have an RC-3 and will soon receive my new KLF C-7. The former is biwireable but can you also do this with the C-7? And, if I choose not to go the biwireable way does it matter if I put the two speaker cables in the upper or the lower hookups. On my RC-3 I currently have the speaker cables hooked up to the upper inputs on the back of the speaker. Thanks. Mike
  15. Ooops! Of course I meant longer chains up front. My bad!
  16. I pretty much understood your twomike joke and i´m also not much of a comedian so this was the only good comeback I could think of As for the speaker placement i´m thinking of placing hooks in the cealing and from them hang chains down to a speakermatching shelf. The chains will be shorter up front so that the speaker will point downwards. Of courese then I have to include a wall about an inch high at the front of the shelf which will prevent the spekaer from falling in my head. What do you think about that? Mike
  17. Thanks for your input HornEd. Haven´t you heard the phrase from a certain movie that goes: "There can be only one" Therefore twomike wouldn´t sound to good in my opinion. If I should place my rear center pointing down, how do I make it stay up there without falling down then. I´m asking because I have a really tough concrete wall to work with and I guess I have to put the speaker into something right? Any ideas? Mike
  18. Hello! I just bought a KLF C-7 with which I plan to replace my current RC-3. The question now is where on the backwall I should place my RC-3 in my ES/EX setup. Unfortunately i´m forced to have my sofa against the backwall which isn´t the best solution. If someone has a good idea where to place it I would be thankful and if so here are some useful measurements to concider: From listening position to TV screen: 9 feet From TV to left/right fronts (KLF 20´s): 4 feet From listening pos. to L/R surrounds (KSP S6´s): 4 feet and they are mounted 4.5 feet up on the wall pointing inward towards the listening position. I will put the RC-3 right in the middle of these which also will be direct in front of the TV screen. What I want to know is if I should: a. Put the rear back in the same height as the KSP S6´s b. Or should I put it higher up as I have my couch against the back wall? c. Should I try to point it up or down or should it just be completely horizontal. The C-7 will be placed under the TV at the same height as the horns on the KLF 20´s. Thanks! Mike!
  19. Thank you for your input. It´s not easy here in Sweden to find the right brands. As always in the U.S everything is more available to the customer than over here. As I got a complaint from my landlord when I had my 15" Acoustic I thought I´d better find something smaller but still powerful and these two came up as a good buy. The SVS is as hard to find over here as there would be to find a raindrop in the Sahara desert. See ya. Mike
  20. I searched around and found a dealer in our neighbor country of Norway. He had some in stock and would gladly send me one. Now it´s just a matter of the price. I´m getting that Christmas feeling, and it´s great. Mike
  21. Hi! As i´m having real trouble finding a KLF C-7, i live in sweden where they are rare, I would like to know what other brands would match the Klipsch speakers. My setup: KLF 20´s as fronts RC-3 as center KSP S6´s as surrounds What I was thinking of would be to get a C-7 for new center and move the RC-3 to the back as rear surround. I know they have C-7´s on e-bay but the cost to ship it over here is about $250 so it would be to costly. So, does anyone have any idea of another centerspeaker that would function as a surround back speaker with my other Klipsch speakers? Also, does anyone know of some dealers that market Klipsch over here in Europe, maybe in Germany, Netherlands, Great Britain etc? Mike
  22. Hello! I posted this question in the home theater forum and got the advice to post it here also. I´m thinking of buying a new sub since I sold my Acoustic Research 500. I didn´t think that this sub had "a personality" so to speak. It wasn´t clear and crisp in it´s sound. Anyway, i´m now looking towards the Yamaha YST-SW800 and the very small K-9 from M&K. So, do you guys outthere have any personal experience or just thoughts about these two, please let me know. How are they with music and home theater? I now have KLF 20´s, RC-3 and KSP S6´s as speaker setup. A Denon 3802 will supply the power. Looking forward to your inputs. Mike!
  23. Hello! It´s time for a subwoofer change and I´ve been looking towards the Yamaha YST-SW800 and the ultra small K-9 sub from M&K which measures 10X13X10 and 21 lbs. Anyone outthere who owns one of these and play them together with other Klipsch speakers, please feel free to put your $0.02 in. Where do they work best, in music, home theater or both? Thanks! Mike
  24. Hello! To answer this question please use these products when you, hopefully, are helping me with ideas/answers: Receiver: Denon 3802 DVD-player: Pioneer dv-737 My questions are if I would be better of buying a real good coaxial digital cable (for example Harmonic Technology Cyber link platinum) and let the Denon "handle" the music or if it would be better to buy good analogue signal cables and use the Pioneer´s D/A converter and let it handle the music? The reason for asking is that the Pioneer has been rated excellent for musiclistening as well as for DVD:s. To listen to music in for example DTS Neo 6.1 I guess I have to go through the digital coaxial and taking this into concideration I guess I should spend my money on a descent digital cable. If any of u have any ideas regarding this matter please help me. Mike
  25. Well, HornEd is it? You seem to have been missed by a lot of people in the "Klipsch family". I guess you´ve been helping the members of the forum in the past and surely will continue to do so in the near future. So you claim to be part Swedish, doesn´t it feel great to finally announce to the world which the beautiful country is that you have to thank for your existence I myself can almost claim to be an american citizen. My parents lived in L.A for 20 years and my older sister was born there but unfortionately they moved back here just 2 years before I was born. Still I have cousins and aunts in both California and Florida and I also went to school in Orange County for a year. My many trips to these areas make me almost feel like one of you guys, i´m blessed right? So, as I have the KLF 20´s as mains I guess I would be better of with a C-7 and I guess e-bay is the place to get one, but I don´t know what it would cost to ship it over here, will check it out though. Will maybe also get one for rear surround as many on this forum prefer that instead of getting a pair of additional S6´s. I asked the main distributor here in Sweden about the S6´s but they said they don´t market them anymore. He instead pointed toward the new RS-7´s but the price almost blew me away, $1300 for the pair. So, it´s not easy to be a Klipsch fan over here, it empties your wallet pretty fast. Anyway, see you in the future and I didn´t mind you using my thread, so you can sleep well tonight. Mike!
