  1. Hi everyone.....My HT speakers consists of RP5's up front, RC3 center, RS3s rears and a RW-12 sub behind my sectional. The RP5s up front have 12 inch powered subs and with the RW-12 in the back of the room, it sounds awesome. My setup is about 5 years old, the RP5s I bought a year earlier and hung onto til I could get the rest of the speakers and reciever. I basically am wondering 2 things : 1 - Can someone give me some tips on setting up the RP5s and the RW-12? All I did, was hook them all up and play. I set my front speakers to small, and that was about it. I know they both can be tweaked but I have no idea how. When I read the specs, Im lost. Setting crossovers and the phase on the sub are somethings I want to learn about, now that Im getting into the blu-ray movies. 2 - I just bought the new Yamaha RX-V663 receiver (havent hooked it up yet), and it has 2 sub outs, so just for the heck of it, I was considering getting another RW-12, but I see its discontinued, and the RW-12d (digital) looks about identical. Is this ok to use both of these, or would it be overkill? I currently have the RP5 subs and the RW-12 "Y"-d off and run off the single sub out on the back of the receiver. Ok I know I said 2 questions, but I just thought of 1 more. [8-|] 3 - Would my front end sound better with different speakers and a separate sub than the RP5s? Im not sure of the quality of the RP5s compared to other Klipsch front speakers. My whole system (speakers) are Klipsch and would like to keep it that way, but Ive seen some articles suggesting Klipsch subs are pretty much on a much lower level than their speakers, and that compared against other subs, theyre junk. I love the way mine sound, and thats all that matters. Just makes me wonder how much better it could possible sound. Thanks for the help folks, I appreciate it!
  2. Thanks guys for clearing some of that up. I have one thing that still is not clear to me. If the cabinets say 800 watts @ 8ohms, (in the manual) can you send it a 4 ohm signal? I dont see anything in the manual that says 4 ohms thats why Im wondering. Thanks, I appreciate it.
  3. Hi folks....Im a big Klipsch fan as you can see from my previous posts, but my questions have to do with P.A. gear, specifically subs, and matching amps. I cant seem to get a straight answer anywhere thru friends, and even local music stores, so I figured I could probably find out here. I play bass in a local band and recently purchased a pair of Behringer b1800x pro subs. They are rated at 800watts RMS@ 8ohms. The simple question is how do I select an amp? I guess the simple answer is one that puts out 800 watts. What Im trying to figure out is, doesnt using 2 speakers put the load at 4 ohms per speaker? So does that mean I should use an amp that puts out 800 watts per side at 4 ohms? Also, most of the amps Ive looked at at www.musiciansfriend.com dont say "per side", they say something like 900 watts @ 4 ohms, but dont say if thats per side or not. Im just really confused on this. One friend of mine told me that if the speakers are rated at 800 watts, I should get at least a 1000 watt amp. He says when it comes to bass, theres no such thing as too much overhead to get clear sound. If anyone can clarify some of this for me, Id much appreciate it. Thanks!

    3 Subs

Thanks for the reply Michael. Im still new at this, big time, so Im confused. If I remember right (its been a long time), my receiver is set to "sub only" for the LFE signal. So out of the sub output on the back of the receiver, is where I plugged in the Y cable, then connected each end of the Y cable to the LFE inputs on the back of the RP5s for the subs. The RP5s also have LFE outs and LINE in and outs. Am I wrong for thinking the LFE ins only go to the subs? I guess thats where Im confused in regards to your reply. Do I want the LFE to go to the mains too? The sound as it is, is awesome, always has been, but I wanted to kick it up a little by putting another sub right behind, up against the sectional, and Wuzzzers reply sounded like I would have an easy hookup for the 3rd sub. 3 Subs

Thanks wuzzzer.....yep they have an LFE out....I can do that? Ive had this setup for like 6 years and always wanted to put a sub as close to the sectional as possible cause the other subs are up front.

    3 Subs

Howdy everyone....Ive had a pair of RP5 front main speakers for probably 6 years or so. They have powered 15 inch subs on the sides. I used a Y cable from my amps sub out, and ran a cable to each. Sounds great but I want to put another powered sub, 10 or 12 inch (Klipsch of course), behind my sectional. Can I just use another Y cable and break into the signal going to one of the RP5 subs? Thanks for the help I appreciate it! Juan
