  1. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on places I could search for a pair of the older Maple Reference bookshelfs? I have been looking on Audiogon, eBay, Google, etc... with no luck. PS: Why did Klipsch stop making their speakers in the Maple Veneer, were sales that bad? Thank you
  2. I am looking for a decent used pair of RB-3 or RB-5 II in the Maple veneer. I want to use these as rear surrounds in a 7.1 system. I have the RF-5's in Maple, RC-3 II, and RS-3 II in White. Also have the HSU VTF3 MK II in Blonde Maple. If anyone has a pair they want to sell or have seen an old set at a local dealer please let me know. I just got outbid on a pair of RB-3's on eBay, the first I had seen on there in about 5 months. Thank you very much, Jay
  3. Thanks Fish and WolfsBane for your comments and complements:) I really like the HSU VTF-3 it has made a really big improvement with the overall sound of the system compared to the KLH K-SUB 10 that I had before. I have tried different options with the crossover settings and it seems that the sound is very smooth and transitions the best by setting all of the speakers to small and only LFE to the sub. The vocals especially from the center channel are easier to hear and the system overall sounds louder and clearer. I am not sure if this is because the Yammy now has more power to disperse between the center and surrounds? I really, really want to set the RF-5's to large though so I will try setting the sub to about 50-60hz. I was testing before with it crossed over at 35-40hz. Do you know what happens with the crossover in the Yammy if you set the fronts to large but set the LFE to sub only? I also tried this and it seemed to get more of a punch especially in the front but still did not sound as good as like in a seamless front soundstage. I tested with movies and music and suprisingly so far using the Yammy's crossover at 90hz sounds fantastic and huge improvement compared to the KLH I had before. Also I have the RF-5's in Maple veneer and I got the HSU in the all Blonde Maple. The finishes do not really match but they are close enough to make us happy (especially with my wife). The HSU is set at +3db on the volume (tested with a Radio Shack meter) on the unit and with music I set the Yammy's sub level at -3db. This seems to really work well. Also the HSU volume dial is set almost at the minimum and I have one port plugged for Max. extension. Watched Underworld Evolutions last night and was completely blown away by the sound. There were a lot of helicopter scenes and wolves and vampires growling that really made you feel like you were there. Thanks again for your responses... Jay
  4. I want to ask everyone here what are the recommended or preferred receiver crossover settings I should use for my 5.1 setup. Yamaha HTR-5560 75 x 6 Klipsch RF-5 Klipsch RC-3 II Klipsch RS-3 II HSU VTF-3 MK II The receiver only has small or large speaker settings and the manual states that if you select small nothing under 90hz will go to the speakers. My question is should I set all the speakers to small including the front RF - 5's and choose bass only to the sub and let the receiver cross the sub over at 90hz. Or should I choose bass for both the fronts and sub and set the fronts to large. Then set the crossover on the sub to like 35-40hz??? The RF-5's can go down to 34hz and I wasn't sure if I should have the HSU going all the way up to 90hz. Also would getting a new receiver such as an Onkyo or Harman Kardon that I can adjust individual speaker crossovers be a big improvement? Thank you, Jay
  5. I am looking for a pair of RB-3's in the Maple finish. I have the RF-5's in Maple, RC-3 II, and RS-3 II's (white) and would love to match these with a pair of RB-3's for a 7.1 system to use as rear surrounds. Thanks, Jay
  6. Anyone out there selling a pair of RB-5 II's or RB-3's in the maple finish. Or any suggestions on how to find a pair in decent condition. I need them for rears in a 7.1 set up to match my RF-5's (Maple), RC-3 II, and RS-3 II's (White). Thanks[]
  7. Has anyone seen the HSU VTF series subs in the Blonde Maple compared to the Klipsch RF-5 or 7 in the Maple finish. I also would like to know how they would sound together. I am considering purchasing the HSU VTF-2 MKII in Blonde Maple but only if it closely matches the beautiful finish of the RF-5's I have. I am limited on budget and also size due to the WAF... thus cannot get the RSW-15, HSU VTF-3, or the SVS Ultra or Plus. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. THX, JAY
