  1. Unfortunately,it WAS a typo. BUMMER!!!
  2. I bought PM 5.0(6.0 is now available)for $50 at buy.com. It had a $15 mail-in rebate at the time, so net was $35. It has an easy to use interface(Wizards)and is practically fool-proof. I've also seen a demo version available on several of the Maximum PC CD's,but I'm not certain which functions are disabled in the demo.
  3. Dman155 Partition Magic allows you to MERGE the 2 partitions. The data on the D: drive will be put into a folder(which you name) on the resulting larger C: drive. After this is done, you can allow Drive Mapper to repair the drive letter associations or you could do that manually.
  4. Try www.zdbop.com You can download the files(some are rather large) or I believe you can order them on CD.
  5. We use Southwestern Bell here. The cost for 1-line basic service is $24. Each additional line is $13.50. The customer service is something to behold! It took 6 weeks to have a second line put in and for some strange reason we had to contact the Kansas City office to do so. After several phone-tag sessions,we threatened to hire a lawyer. We got that second line the next day. As for long distance,we haven't paid for a single call in months. We use Speak4Free or I-Link Talk Free. We've managed to save about $40 a month this way.
  6. The T-Bird 1000 MHz can be had for $497 at www.tcwo.com
  7. geekysteve--Have you been to http://grc.com/default.htm to test your firewall with the Shields Up scanner?Maybe this info will help you or someone else choose an effective firewall.
  8. From what I've read, the choice comes down to Zone Alarm or Norton Internet Security 2000. NIS 2000 allows you to tweak the access to individual ports. It also integrates well with Norton System Works and includes a copy of the Norton anti-virus program.Norton is very good at posting new virus definitions and software updates so that would be a big plus. Personally, I try to use freeware when possible but I can see that a firewall might not be the place to save a buck or two!
