  1. I have a 555 that I'd let go for $350 + shipping or an Onkyo M-504 for $400 + shipping. Both sound excellent with Klipsch but props to the cool factor on the Onkyo with those big green vue meters.
  2. Debbie Davies: Loose Tonight Anna Popovic:: Hush E.G. Kight: Trouble Just a few of the female blues crew (electric) to listen to.
  3. Here's Orion Bluebook listing: KLIPSCH SPK, KG-5.5 (PAIR) Description: (2)10" WOOFERS, 1" TWEETER Manufacture Years: 1994 - 1997 Additional Information: Power: 100 Retail MSRP: $1,000.00 USED: $414.00 Wholesale Mint: $245.00 Average: $145.00 Click here for a definition of Bluebook prices.
  4. At one point in the Klipsch pyramid I've been climbing, I had a pair of KG5.5 and KLF 30's at the same time. The sound between the 2 was more similar then dis-similar. I see that you really like the Reference line, but the KG's are more Heritage like in sound. As far as price, I think $450 is fair for the KG's. Especially when you would be paying 2X that amount on KLF. Good luck on the sale.
  5. Thanks. I thought it would be OK to use. It looks to be a better quality cable then some of my current interconnects. I didn't think that $20 was too bad for it but it was a spur of the moment decision. I have seen the Blue Jean interconnects and these seem to a bit thicker. Thanks again for the info.
  6. OK. So here's the situation. I'm at Rat Shak and I see the following cable on sale from $40 down to $10: http://www.monstercable.com/productPage.asp?pin=150 Without blinking, I clear the shelf of all 4 packages they had. I get home only to see I purchased "Digital" coax. I wanted to connect another amp and pre-amp, but I guess I can't use this cable...or can I? I understand digital is 75 Ohm but is analog the same? I was hoping to use a pair for the amp-pre amp connection and to upgrade the stereo connection coming from my SACD player.
  7. I talked with Craig about a couple of months ago and I thought things were looking up. I am sorry to hear about his loss.
  8. You are aware that the spending has just begun, right? You will see mods at bike shows and "just have to have it" for your bike, which does looks outstanding. Now get out there and put some more miles on it. Later
  9. Congrats. Take a nice long ride. Let us know how it was. Don't forget the pics.
  10. Luther Alison lost his fight with cancer too. Play "The Little Red Rooster" and they will all be on their feet. Good luck with the gig.
  11. Aren't these the preferred CF4's? I remember a while back there was a thread where we learned that the CF4 came is 4 variations. The 4's with the 6" port depth were the most valuable of all as not only was the port longer, the drivers were very expensive. My 4's have a 2" depth port but still sound fantastic to me. Look for that old post and check the info.
  12. I sat on one of the M109's at the bike show in the Sun Dome a few weeks back. The only thing I really didn't like about it was the shaft drive. Other than that, it looks really nice. It weights around 100lbs more than my bike but the extra 30+hp would more than make up for the extra weight. I have been itching to get a more traditional cruiser for a while but I always end up buying more speakers. That and I really like my bike. We're off to Leesburg today for the Bike Fest. Should be a nice ride. Last year it rained most of the day and wasn't a lot of fun. Remember, Blues Fest is next weekend.
  13. Believe it or not, these are holding their value better than a lot. My buddy bought a 05 Road King and was going to trade it for a Street Glide and it was a sin what the dealer offered him. The Street Glide is a sweet looking ride too. Still not a Fat Boy, but not to shabby. I am also not a speed freak. I had a scare 25 years ago and don't want to ever have access to speed like that again. Anyway, thought I'd post of my bike the way most Harley owners see it. [] (And I don't mean parked!!)
  14. I know Harley has an almost Scientology cult like following, but expand your horizons a little. There are many metric (Jap for the non-PC out there) cruisers that will run rings around the HD's.Here is 102ci that will smoke a HD with anything less than a Stage 3 kit installed. It will take the V-Rod in the first 3 gears but with around $2K in engine work, even the V-Rod won't have a chance. Even with engine work done, it runs thousands less than a V-Rod or equivalent HD. And when I go to the local Bike Night's, even the HD owners like this bike. Now even though I said all that, my favorite bike is still a Fat Boy. I just like the style. The Yamaha has the Road Star, which is Fat Boy like, but it's not a Fat Boy. If I had a spare $11K at the time, I would be displaying a picture of the Fat Boy instead of my Warrior.
  15. Price is often contingent on how patient you are in selling them. A pair went last week in Orlando for $450 and I have seen them sell off e-bay for near a grand. Shipping those beasts is a chore too. I sold mine to a board member and the packing and delivery to the shipper gave me a backache. Also, the write up on e-bay or Audiogon could be the difference between several hundred dollars. Good luck with the sale.
  16. Anyone here try yourmusic.com? Go to the search and use Album Title and search for SACD. There are 4 pages to choose from. Albeit a limited collection, they are $5.99 a piece. You are charged tax but not shipping. I have purchased around 10 discs so far and continue to have several in my que.
  17. I was. And I'm a biddin' too.[]
  18. I too, will check my schedule. The week after is Leesburg Bike Fest so I will have to ask the ex if she wouldn't mind checking in on the kids. Don't want any parties at my house while I'm away.
  19. Bob, Get well soon. You know the old saying "A day without a soldering iron is like a day without sunshine". I think that's how it goes. Take care.
  20. After even more listening it has become crystal clear that I'm still undecided as to which sounds best. There are some songs that sound better on the 1's than the 2's and some sound better on the 2's than the 1's. I have also found that while the bass section is basically the same between both, the 2's do have a little cleaner upper end. Still love the tweets in the 1's as thay are the exact same as the tweets in my Khorns. I guess that leaves me no alternative so I'll have to skip the gym tomorrow to keep experimenting ..... OK, I'll go to the gym and keep testing when I get home. (any excuse to get out of working out)
  21. I never opened up the 2's to find out what's in there. The 1's have a type B network. All drivers are original from the time. I think it's the K77 tweeter, which I just replaced the diaphrams in. The Mid is the K55V (?) I think. Since I put them back together I can't remember exactly.
  22. I finished my '78 Cornwall project last week and have been A\B'ing them with my '87 CW II's this weekend. Not really using the "best" equipment, HK930 (thanks Craig) and a Sony SACD player, but the same equipment between the 2 sets of speakers. I didn't want huge space between the sets so I stacked and inverted a 1 on a 2 and visa versa. For the most part, highs and lows, pretty much the same. I really don't think one has more bass slam than the other and the high frequency is too close to call. It's the efficiency and mids where the differences lie, at least to me. The 2's seem more efficient to me. At the same level on the receiver, the 2's are noticably louder. Also the midrange on the 2's seems more spacious. The 1's mid is more direction oriented. Let me put it this way, the 2's almost sound like you push the "stadium" button in and the 1's sound more direct. But I guess the question is which one I like more. I really wish it were that simple. I flip on the 1's and listen for a while and the choice is clear, I like them the most. Then I switch and play the 2's and think I like the 2's more. And it keeps going on like this. Need some input from y'all as to which I should keep as both pair will not fit in the house.
  23. I have tested an Academy, KLF-C7, and KV-4 and found them all to me more similar than dissimilar. My current theater has an Academy centered between my Cornwall II's. When I switched to the KLF it was very close with the KLF a very slight more forward sounding than the Academy. The KV-4 was a bit more relaxed in the mid but seemed to go a bit deeper than the Academy, which may be due to the size of the speaker. All 3 went well with the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cornwall's although I do prefer the sound of the Academy. If you can find any of these at a good price, grab them.

  25. bdbaba, I have a CS Ultra. I was using a Carver TFM 35X and an Adcom GFA 555 to power it, but it never really knocked kidney stone's loose like the BPS. I wish I would have had a nice Crown but $1.5K for a dedicated sub amp just was never in the budget. It is a very nice sub and maybe one day I will hear it's potential, but for now I really like the Mirage.
