  1. I have not seen > 1" @ the Depot or Lowe's.
  2. Islander, Thanks for the tips. I don't really need 100', closer to 40-50', so I may try some of the local commercial electronic shops to see if they sell it by the foot. Unfortunately, I live in a medium sized city, so availability and demand might be working against me.
  3. Where is the best place to buy large diam 1.5 to 3" wire loom, as it looks like a bowl of spaghetti behind my component stands? Are there any cables/wire that should not be housed together?
  4. Success has been achieved! My unit apparently reset itself after being unplugged x 48h. You don't know what a relief it is not to have to disconnect everything, haul it to the repair shop, then rehook everything back up, not to mention a repair bill. Thanks again for all of your help! P.S. I posed my same problem to a couple other web sites w/ only a smattering of responses vs the doz or so replies here. This is the one for true adiophiles!
  5. I have ttied the Impedence Selector in both positions, but nothing happened.
  6. Ubfortunately, the power strip is OK. That would have been the easiest solution vs unplugging everything & hauling all 64lbs into the repair shop. I also unplugged & replugged the speaker wires, but that didn't help either.
  7. I bought it used from a guy that was moving overseas. How can I tell the age of the unit and is the warr transferrable? I went to the Yamaha site & there are no auth service centers within 100 mi of where I live. I will try unplugging the spkr wires, however. Thanks!
  8. I appreciate your help & advice, but the unplugged x 5 min didn't help. I can't find a fuse on the back panel, so it must be internal. I guess I'll have to unhook everything, which I am dreading & take it in for servicing. There are no authorized Yamaha service ctrs where I live, so I going take it to an independent or maybe Best Buy. I know there is prob a $25 diag fee, which can be applied towards the repair.
  9. I checked the outlet w/ a hair dryer & there is juice.
  10. James, Thanks for your reply. I also replugged it directly into the wall and nothing. I looked for fuses in the rear panel, but I didn't see any. There is no mention of fuses in the owner's manual, so they probably don't want to encourgage wannabe techs. Glenn
  11. I was switching surge suppessors earlier today and now my Yamaha RX-V1 A/V receiver won't turn on manually or w/ the remote. I followed all the trouble shooting recommendations e.g., unplug x 1 min & replug, reset Impedence Selector. Any recommendations?
  12. Fish, I'd read somewhere that 48" was the magic figure for dead center, so my dead center right now is 67" vs your 42". Luckily mine has a tilt mount and I have it angled down as much as possible. My stand for the center channel speaker is right below the TV, which prevents me from lowering the plasma anymore than 6". R
  13. The bottom edge of my 50" set is 51" above the floor & my couch is 14-15' away. The TV height seems fine when you are standing, but I was wondering if it should 6" lower, since most viewing occurs in the seated position. What is the mounting height of most of yours?
  14. I found the device I needed on E-bay, Electroline 4-Port Standard 1GHz Cable TV Amplifier. Thanks!
  15. I was told that the surge suppressors that accept A/C power cords and cable, decrease the cable signal. Would a pre-amp device upstream from the suppressor offset the loss? If so, any economic recommendations for signal pre-amps?
