You have to expeirment with almost every pair of headphones, and allow for break in (the drivers as well as the head band, foam and or cups) The only pair of Cans that I've never had fitment problem with are my AKG K701's but those things are huge. I have to fiddle with the image ones a lil bit to find a comfortable spot, both witht the headband and earcups. They are comfortable, and the sound stage has improved some from when they were new. Im still pleased with mine. Between the Image ones and my Denon D1000's The Image ones always come out first. The Denons just stay in the bag on the shelf.

Update. I've had my image ones for almost three weeks now. I have roughy 200 hours of play and some burn in on them. The sound has mellowed out. The bass has calmed down a bit certainly not as boomy as it was new. As a reference I have some AKG K701's which are about the most neutral headphones and very "bass shy" cans out. So they are my baseline comparison for bass response for other cans. And how so many cans have bass boost built into them. I think the Image ones have a happy medium while not neutral at all the bass isn't over blown either. The sounds stage is still a bit tight. I do wish for a little more seperation with them. I listen to a lot of jazz (horn jazz) Miles, Marsalis, Sean Jones and separation or lack there of is really noticeable on certain songs. Overall I'm happy with the Image Ones. They are a "fun" can. They fit the bill for what they are designed for.

I guess that depends on what you mean by "state of the art" At that price point and what they are designed for, I think they are as good if not better than most other headphones on the market in that price range. (Certainly better than Beats) From my view point these cans are designed as portable on the go cans designed specifically for iPXX devices. They are not designed to be top of the line sit at home desktop headphones that need an dedicated DACS and headphone amp. The price point I think is fair, They sound better, and are built better than my Denon AH-D1001's which retail for 149 ( you can get them cheaper than that though) Again way better than Dr Dre's Beats. which cost more. Im sure you can find a better more "state of the art" can. But at what cost, portabillity, easy of use, not power hungry? I dont think there is a do it all can. Which is why I have more than I care to admit. I still plan on gettin me a set of Denon D2000's maybe even the 5000's but these will be my choice for closed listening on my dedicated rig with my tube headphone amp (closed can so as not to upset the wife..she's sick of the K-701's) Apples to oranges and the price is relfection of that too.

Ok.. So I took the leap and picked up a pair Friday evening. So far after quite a bit of listening over the weekend, my overall impression in one word. Impressive. Klipsch hit the nail on the head with the size, build quality and look of these cans. Nothing as gawdy looking or bulky as the Beats. The gloss black with Chrome trim really looks good and the "leather" backing with "Klipsch" adds a classy look to the cans. They are a bit smaller than I thought they would be. But this is a good thing as it allows you to have a "full size" set of cans that you can travel with or listen to on the go without looking like a wanna be DJ. The case and abilty to turn the cups in so that they lay flat really helps with the portablilty. Throw the cans in the case and the case in a back pack and you are set. Comfort. Very VERY comfortable. I was able to do something in these headphones I havent been able to do in most of my other cans.. And thats fall a sleep with them on. The pading on the ear cups and texture are spot on. Very impressed with Klipsch gettin this right on their first set of full size cans. Sound. Very detailed. Sounds very much like the S4's. Mids and highs are very good, and accurate. sepreation is decent, and overall sound stage is good. Im still on the fence on the Bass. It seems there is just a touch of "boost" to these cans in the Bass department. Not so much that it is overbearing. But nothing like the bass boost on Dr Dre's Beats. However it's not bloaty just not as nuetral as I like.. I'll continue to do some critical listening over the next few weeks and report if the sound changes, but for now, if you are looking for a set of full size on the ear cans that have iPad iPhone controls with easy portablility and great sounds. I dont think you'll find anything in this price range that has all those features.

I too have an itch for some new cans. Not that I need a new set.... I have the S4's in ear and they are very clear. they do lack a little down low and the sound stage isnt as nice as some of my other full size cans ( I know apples to oranges there). Im hoping the New Image 1's fill in that gap, with a better sound stage a little more seperation and just a touch more bass down low. I plan on going to the Apple store with my own Ipad/iTouch loaded with my own music and trying a set out before I purchase them. The other set of Cans in the running right now are the Denon AHD2000's I have a set of the Denon AHD1000's and while good they just arent exactly what Im looking for in a closed lightweight can. Ultraones Proline 750's I have are by far my best set of Closed cans. But there is a pretty big price gap between those and the Image one, and the 750's really sound good with a Headphone Amp. I'll report back once the Apple store gets them in stock and on display.
  7. Friend of mine always asks me questions "whats the best" so and so... I always answer Depends on who you are and what you are looking for. I can see how the XF-48 line could be what a lot of people are looking for. I can also see how it's something that some people would not want.To each his own.
  8. So this line is more aimed at those who want big sound without all the Amps and processors..etc to go along with it?
  9. Very interesting. I would like to hear them...not that Im gonna get rid of my 54's [] Those things just rock! Was listening (watching) the Dave Matthews Tim Reynolds @ Radio City. The 54's imaging was specatular.
  10. Dont forget about the Cinema Series. Reference sound in a much smaller package http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/cinema-10.aspx
  11. And How do they compare to the RVX-54's They are bout the same size (lil deeper i think)
  12. Kind of interested in these, just to see how they stack up against the RVX-54's Hope they dont turn out to be another great Klipsch speaker that gets the second class treatment. (Like the RVX-54's)
  13. Yes very happy with the RSX-4's Watched "Identity" on Bluray lastnight PCM uncompressed sound track the movie had constant surround sound effects, and the RSX-4s performed very well.
  14. Sure that will work. 54's as surrounds should work out just fine.

  16. I have the RSX-4 for my rear surrounds, coupled with the RVX-54 for mains and RCX-4 for a center. I too struggled between the RSX-4/5 for a while and decided on the 4's simply because of WAF and space. The 5's are bigger and do give off a lil more sound, but the 4's are very impressive for surround speakers. As for the Onkyo I have an 804 which is close to the same power rating that the new 805 and 905 have. For surrounds I'm not too worried about blowing the RSX-4's up because typically surround speakers dont get full power that the mains and center do..unless you are doing PL-II or Neo (which I dont do) HTH
  17. Ovations here in Cincinnati is selling "B" stock Cherry 83's for 1500. I would much rather go with those than some used 83's with no warranty.
  18. Dont see how you can justfiy this statement. Wii has sold 4.5 million units in 4 months (or less) 360, 10Million units in 13 months. There is no such thing as a "bottomless market" No matter what you are selling. But to call gaming a Niche market..nevermind a "limited niche market" doesnt make sense to me. All markets have thier limits no doubt about that. I remember people sayin that the "videophile market" was a limited niche market with very little potential. Boy those guys got that one right too.. Also keep in mind that there are the "Core gamers" who have one of every console availble. Then there are those who buy them cause lil Billy "just gotta have one Mom" That pretty much gets rid of the "limited niche market" Because there are always gonna be Lil Billy's, and parents who will buy them what they want. I have yet to find a 13 year old kid that can afford to buy ANY of these consoles...
  19. You know I recall reading articles of the same type about a year and some months ago. Just change Wii to PS2 and PS3 to X box 360... 360 is still around... Looky here http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20051228-5862.html MS is hoping the 360 will make a profit almost 1 1/2 years after it hit the market. And yet they are still losing over 100 bucks on each unit sold... They make their money on games. Sony is no different, the PS3 isnt going anywhere. Even as a Cheap BD player (to get BACK ON TOPIC) Sony is losing money on the PS3, as a unit. Where they will make money is 1. Games. and game license And 2. since sony is a pretty big movie house BD sales.
  20. Actually as far as PS launches go the PS3 was one of the better ones...and thats not saying much. Most consoles sold in the shortest amount of time. How quickly people forget that the PS2 was a horrid launch with HUGE supply shortages, and to top it off an even bigger shortage of Memory cards. If you got a PS2 you couldnt even save your stinking game progress...took me a month after launch until I got a memory card...All the naysayin on the PS3..is really a waist of time. Sony is not going to let the PS3 die...Period.At any rate. The last level of RFOM you need to use your big guns. There is plenty of ammo stashed around so keep moving. Lob as many granades as you can at the Chimera when they are far away. Shotgun on the ones closest to you. The Big flying spider thing (forget the name) Use the Lark on him. Basically its an all out battle the faster and better you are at changin your weapons the better off you'll be.All the while keep shooting at the Rods with your Machine gun. Also dont forget to use the Bullseye tag, this way you can shoot and the bullets go directly to the target..you dont have to aim, and sometimes the bullets go around corners. Im on the Frozen Thames river now my second time through on "Hard mode. It is much harder cant wait to see how hard the last level is.
  21. Huh...the PS3 doesnt do ANY upscaling of DVD's....at all..(not yet) It does a decent job of playing DVD's its no better than my Samsung Upconverting DVD player at 480p. It does not however upconvert DVD's to 720 or 1080i like my sammy does. The fact that it plays BD and SACD and has a 60gig Hardrive in it makes it a no brainer for my HT. MP3s at 320kb hundreds on my HD has replaced my CD changer. And SACD at 176.4K via HDMI into my Onkyo 804 in "Pure Audio"mode.. Sounds amazing. Be advised the PS3 DOES NOT do SACD via Toslink..for some reason it's Stereo or HDMI. So keep that in mind.
  22. I hate to "Thread Jack" here, but could you please give a lil more detail as to how you tested the 82 vs the 83. Im in the process of selecting new mains and at this current time I have an Onkyo 804 to run them with. I heard the 82's just today, and was impressed. I'll have to travel 30 miles (one way) to here 83's this weekend. I'm just trying to figure out if I'll be happy with the 82, and, or if the 83's would be too much for me, and my lil AVR amp right now. TIA.
  23. Its that darned Yamaha v1600. I set up one of these for a client, with some Polk surrounds speakers. Smaller than RSX5, and it choose Large. Dont know why the Yami does that
  24. I have been fooling around with this for the better part of a year. I cant tell the difference on my DirceTV HD reciever between HDMI and Component. Both connected directly to the tv, just switching inputs back and forth on an HD channel (Discovery HD or ESPN) 1080i and 720p. I cant tell the difference. I read somewhere that with a properly set up Tv you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between HDMI and component. At least at 1080i and under, I cant tell the difference
