  1. I have the Cobra 3 and 5 LD offset woods, like em but still slice. I am self taught and guess I am a lousy teacher. I enjoy going to the golf range and walking "cheap" courses. The range I go to has had 6 to 10 deer hanging out in the evening, they are about 400 yds out so no one messes with them much. When someone gets close they scamper but drift back in a few minutes. My inlaws live on "The Landings" outside of Savannah. They are very nice courses but I cannot see paying 80 bucks to hack when we visit. So I drive the beer I mean golf cart.
  2. think we could glue a false pioneer face plate on the thing so my wife would not notice Of course the remote would give it away. Hmm, I need to sell something fast, don't I?
  3. I cut a seperate hole in the back of the entertainment center just for the sub wire. It was pretty jammed going through with the other wires. Seems to be doing fine. Now if I could just figure out how to get everything back the way it was as far as connections go.
  4. Well, I posted this prior to trying anything. At lunch I went and purchased a new cable. That fixed the immediate problem. I guess now I need to try and figure out what caused the problem with the other cable. I know my wire management is probably not the best.
  5. Continues after being plugged in. Buzz, Humm whatever can be volumn controlled on the back of the sub. I guess the volumn was set in a spot that when it originally occurred it was blaring loud (made your hair stand up) There is a floor model SUB 12 at our local BB for $399. Our local BB is remodeling and they are selling of loads of floor model stuff, TVs,. audio equip. But I do not want to spend just to spend, if I can get this working I would be fine.
  6. makes a loud noise, constant buzz, humm, I really do not know what I would call it. How do I check the fuse? I am guessing it is inside since I see none on the outside. Is this something I can do EASILY?
  7. I went to change the DVD player, since I would be using all the same wires as the old I just unplugged the wires. As soon as I unplugged the cables that ran from RCV to DVD my subbed went ballistic. I now have the new DVD in place but the sub goes off as soon as I plug it in. Any ideas?
  8. In the only room they would work there is only one good corner. The other corner has windows on both sides and to build a false corner would partially cover two windows and the wife would not go for that. If we ever move, finding a house with corners will be a priority (FOR ME) but I will have to make sure that is not a known priority.
  9. I use Heresys outdoors on a covered 15 by 24 foot patio. I purchased the widest curtain blackout material I could get reinforced the corners with denom so I could put grommets hang it on chains and pull it tight with ziplocks to keep it from blowing in the breeze. It works great and is ran from the inside so what ever is playing inside can also be played outside at the same time. In NW Arkansas we are fortunate to still have a drive-in. $10 bucks a carload with a double feature. They used to only run old movies and never new releases but last year they did a pretty good job showing new releases. They are showing Pirates and Wild Hogs this weekend so load up the pickup, pop some corn and fill the cooler. And if you live in the area enter from the north on 112 to beat the line off 540. The only bad experience we have had is once we parked next to a deisel subburban that decided to start up so they could run their AC. Everyone asked him to shut it down but he wouldn't
  10. I lived in Belgium for a few years and picked up two OLD tube radios. The best thing about them is they were free. Folks were just throwing them away, on one of those put your big trash out by the curb days. Neither worked but looked good cosmetically. I saw several others and wanted to get them but my future wife said I was nuts and would only let me keep the two. I moved them around for several years and when we moved to Dallas, I pulled out the yellow pages and found several folks that fixed old radios. The first guy I went to offered me several hundred for one of them and then also told me it would cost several hundred to replace. I walked out and told him I would just keep it for looks. That really made me want to get them working. My next step was to draw a diagram and mark the tubes as I took them out. I remembered as a kid going to a store to check the tubes from our TV. So I went to another shop but this time just took the tubes in to be tested. Two were bad, they had replacements and I took them home put all the tubes back in and both radios work great. One has a cool see-saw dial that has city names instead of numbers. Turns out that where we are now one of the local channels hits right on Paris, I mess with the kids and ask them if they want to hear what the Paris station is playing, my oldest got wise when she was listening to the same channel on here mp3 player.
  11. How is the sound with a wood floor? Particularly the bass. Look's great, I wonder if I could talk the wife into letting me trade in on the new Lascalas.
  12. I do not know the seller nor have I inquired about this speaker. Just saw it, wanted to purchase it but knew I would get killed. The only place I can put a center speaker is ABOVE my TV and I did not think I could get by with putting a CW up in the air. So I thought I would pass the info along, I live here and can store for you if you need time getting here to pick it up.
  13. Yes, I have a degree in Math, and I am teaching Math. I would have not been hired without the degree. There are things I would like to do and watching folks do those things, I think I could do the job just as good. But, without the degree I would never be looked at for those jobs. I did not start out teaching but always thought I might enjoy teaching (which I love). Having the degree opened that door for me and I am grateful. At one time I sold TiO2 (figure that out), was hired because I have a minor in general engineering. Did I use that knowledge? I guess you could say yes, because I called on several plants that had different manufacturing processes and I was able to easily pick up on those processes. I am sure someone without a degree could have done just as good or better, but again they would not have been looked at because the company specifically looked for engineering backgrounds. That was a great job if you liked being out of town on the road four days out of the week. As one previously mentioned, I think higher education keeps more doors available to you, but as I get older the idea of changing professions again would scare me to death. I hope to be doing this for another 25 years. I have thought about going back to school to get an administration degree, but I do not kow if I really want to deal with those politics. I think we are unrealistic to expect EVERYONE to complete one class above Alg 2 in highschool. I bet if you were to give congress a geometry or algebra end of course test SEVERAL would not pass. But, if they had those classes a fast refresher would get them throught.
  14. If you are going to be returning, I am sure someone would be willing to hold them for you and make sure they stay in good working order and dusted!!
