  1. I had the same problem with my player pausing and at one point stopping when I popped in the first movie "Phantom of the Opera." I immedietly did a firmware update and have not had a problem since. After I completed the update, the player told me the current software was up to date and that I did not need to update the firmware; however I have not experienced the problem since. I might just be lucky the player has not acted up again. If it does, I am taking it right back to Best Buy. I am sorry to hear you are 3 hours from an electronic store.
  2. The 10db problem only occurs on Warner Bros. discs. I watch Serenity after Phantom of the Opera and had to lower the volume by 15db because it was too loud. Once Warner Bros. fixes the problem I think everyone will be happy with the sound. I think the DTS conversion sounded really great. Granted I do not have the best equipment, but I was very hapy. I saw a noticeable difference in the picture quality of Phantom of the Opera, but I was not awed by the picture quality in Serenity.
  3. I just picked up this unit as well last night. Unfortunately, they would not sell me any movies at Best Buy so I cannot give any feedback. The only reason I picked it up is the analog signal through component. I want to enjoy the HD content while I can. 1080P doesn't matter because only recent televisions accept the signal. Once they force you to use a DVI or HDMI cable for piracy issues, I will be a very angry consumer who wishes they would pick one type on encoding and stick with it. It is so fustrating to spend hard earned cash on technology which will be obsolete in a few years. I understand I am taking a chance with HD DVD, but I did not think my HDTV would be obsolute in a few years when I first purchased it. In the meantime, I will be enjoying my HD picture with my Toshiba player.
  4. I will be the proud owner of an Ultra II system in two weeks.
  5. Showcase Home Entertainment just put the floor model of the Denon 4806 on sale for $2,499. I really want to take advantage of this price break, and was wondering if anyone had experience with purchasing floor model receivers. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I have a question about the installation of the Ultra II system. I just found out my house is closing on April 26th, so I will not be able to purchase the in-wall version of the Ultras II system. The installer was going to use a rotatable bracket to install the speakers to the wall. Should the speakers be flush mounted to the wall, or should I use the brackets to direct the sound at the listening position? I am not very happy with the installer. He should be able to answer my questions. Also, what is the best way to calibrate the system once it is installed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Thank you for the information. I will make sure and pre-order.
  8. Does anyone know when the THX Ultra II in-wall speakers will be available for purchase?
  9. Thank you for your advice and input. What do you think of Sunfire's Cinema Grand 200 ~ 7? I would buy the speakers from someone, but I am able to roll them into my mortgage.
  10. I am almost ready to move into my new home and I will have the Klipsch Ultra II Series speakers installed upon completion. I currently have a Denon 3805 to power my 7.1, but I am getting the itch to upgrade. I really like the 4806 receiver, but it is a bit on the pricey side. I want to get a receiver and a new HDTV when we move into the home, so I want to get the most bang for the dollar. Money is a concern. Any feedback from current owners of the speakers and the receiver they use would really be appreciated. I am not a Denon fan boy, so input on any manufacturer will be appreciated.
  11. I made the decision to replace my Pioneer 510HD with the Sony SXRD after a lot of research and comparison to both Pioneer and Panasonic plasmas; however I am going to hold out until they come out with a model that has a 1080p input. It should be realeased in late summer or the fall. I did not want to buy a TV and not take advantage of the latest technology.
  12. Thank you both for your help. I am going to order the in-wall speakers. I am hoping they will be available in May.
  13. I am buying a new house and purchasing the THX Ultra series, however I have a dilemma. The room I am using for home theater is a great room. It consists of a living space and the kitchen. I am not having any issues with the front or side speakers; however I do not know what I should do with the rears for a 7.1 setup. The only way I can mount the rears is to the ceiling. I have two choices. My first choice is to purchase the current available Ultra II speakers and mount the rears to the ceiling. My second choice is to purchase the in-wall speakers for astetic purposes, but I think it would look funny to have my fronts and sides in-wall and my rears mounted to the ceiling. Are there any ceiling speakers which will match up with the THX Ultra Series? I do not know how important the rear channel is to the overall sound. Any help or guidance would greatly be appreciated?
