My 2nd grade grand-daughter is taking a 'music appreciation' class at school. An "old guy" with a silver pony-tail plays MIDI-ish music for them, and then asks questions.

My daughter asked my grand-daughter what kind of music he plays for them. She replied, "Pop music."

"Oh," said my daughter, "popular music, like on the radio." "No," said the grand-daughter, "Pop music, like Pop plays." ('Pop' is my grandchild pseudonym) "You know, music with HIGHS and LOWS."

  2. There was never a tuner per his daughters. Did some research and in those days, tuners were mono which most here are aware of. Maybe someone could suggest a tuner that suits this unit? I'm thinking a modern tuner would be less 'older is better' ish? Am I right about this? More interested quality overall function than vintage for vintage's sake.

This is what I use with my 299D. It has 'Rec Out' lines, and works and looks great.

  3. In due time.

Amy... thank you. You have been nothing short of gracious and conscientious in the few years I have known you. May God bless and keep you and your son in the days and years ahead.

  4. Did you need one for Elijah Wood? Saw the pic on FB - pretty cool to have Frodo wearing this shirt while sitting on his LaScala! Well done!

So I guess you found one, then made the gold-on-black one that Elijah Wood is wearing.

Any chance Klipsch is going to do a run of those shirts?

  5. Mike has leaned how to thread crap in just 3 posts. He'll fit in just fine here!

    Hahaha....

    2 things:

    1) this is NOT my first forum.

    2) PM Summer started it by asking about the box score when he likely knew the Rangers had a bad top of the seventh. Goes back to a discussion we had over the weekend on how they'd do this year.

Most weekdays I'd be at work and not using a vacation day to watch a baseball game, so they'll be less thread crapping in the future. :)

    It's a rough crowd.

Nope. I had no idea what was going on. Too busy cleaning bug juice off my car. I just checked. 7-7. Go Rangers!

  7. Until this trip, I never even noticed Oakhaven before (saw the signs and that's about it). It's a little community of 20 some-odd Coloniastyle homes just outside the Klipsch plant on the way to the airport. I drove through it and decided it must be the remnants of the officers' quarters for the Southwest Proving Grounds. Indeed.

If I had known this earlier, I would have looked for 383 Oakhaven.

  8. On a side note, be sure to get Mike to sign in to the forum. He's a hoot. I had a great time with him and Otis outside after dinner.

Ask and ye shall receive. Here I be.

Great time, and thanks for making me feel so welcome even though I wasn't a member of the forum and not really all that educated on stereo equipment. pmsummer invited me to tag along, and as I had vacation days to burn and love a good road trip, how could I refuse? It was my honor to join you gentlemen (and Ron).

    What's the box score now?

  9. Think of this past weekend as a bit of a 'reconnaissance in force' to what the possibilities were for future incursions into southeastern Arkansas. Honestly, if people want the Paul Klipsch heritage to thrive beyond a scatological marketing slogan, they need to be prepared to do it without the parent company (which frankly has bigger fish to fry) doing the heavy lifting. This event was pretty much the result of one man's dedication (BIG thank you, Steve!), and his effort (and expense). That's all he ever said it was going to be.

If Steve is interested, I half-joked about us forming a 'Friends of Paul' annual family reunion in Hope. We FoP folks could even go so far as to lend support to the non-factory Klipsch Museum, which is currently closed due to property squabbles.

I had a blast. Great folk. Interesting music, neat gear (I didn't bring anything to my shame), fantastic food, wonderful people, fun in the surrounding area: exploring the official "Rock'n Roll Highway" that runs through Hope (bet you didn't know that) and the Hillbilly Williamsburg that's Washington State Park).

The weather on Saturday and Sunday was even proof that Paul's working in engineering in Heaven.

Hello. My name is P.M. I'm a Friend of Paul's.

  10. For future reference, there is still taxi service in Hope, according to a flyer I saw in the hotel lobby.

And I'd bet more than one forum member with a vehicle would shuttle if need be.

You are absolutely right, but the problem is the Amtrak schedule. Arrivals from South/West are at around 9 at night. EZ. Arrivals from the North/East are around 5 a.m. in the morning. Flop those for departures.
