  1. I have in the past owned one of his creations really nice sounding.. I think you can find him on the Audiogon forum under the name of autospec or something like that...
  2. Thanks Tarheel TJ, Yes treating your room and using a DSP will bring your system to a whole different level.. There is no going back, as for the analog sources all you need is one good tape deck. Then I can help you with getting copies of Master tapes like the ones I have. You have never heard anything like a master tape until you hear one, soo much more info in the music it's insane!!!
  3. You will not find a good reel to reel deck for $100, now days the best bang for your buck is the Otari MX 5050 BII-2.... It is a record and play 2track machine that also plays 4 track tapes...
  4. I am very much like you in that aspect, I like a lot of different cars but; I had German made cars in the past and knowing how smart the German's are it was an easy choice.
  5. Hey dtel, Yes it is that is the fuel tank lid, you just push it on the corner and it pops open...
  6. Yes it's a MT6 speed, I wouldn't own an automatic.... They do look like a 911 from certain angles, I thought about getting a 911 but, after driving the Cayman there was no going back. The balance the Cayman has is superior to the 911 because it's a mid engine chassis, the 911 has a rear motor quite a bit of difference....
  7. This arrived yesterday finally the hunt is over, this is my new to me 2014 Porsche Cayman S model. I have wanted a Porsche since I was a kid, I had talked myself into buying the new 2020 Corvette but, due to the demand and lack of building per the Corona Virus Chevy stopped production and stopped taking orders. I learned that they will only take orders now for the 2021 models, well I didn't want to wait until this time next year. So I started looking at Porsche's and with all this time on my hands because of the quarantine I found what I wanted, made a deal and had it shipped to my door!!!
  8. At one time I had a Marantz 10B and the Scott 310E should have kept the Scott, anyway as Craig says the Scott 310E properly gone through sounds glorious!!!
  9. Hey Gary, Glad to know all is well, yea that getting old thing I know I turned 62 in January...
  10. Hey Gary, Good to see you here again too! How are things?
  11. Believe it or not you would be surprised at how much money I have in the decks! Only one of them was real expensive the others were just great deals after a lot of looking!!! Now the tapes that I have are another thing all together!!! They are very pricey!!!
  12. LMAO!!! I see you still have a sense of humor!!!
  13. Gary, What's up brother? Nice to see you here again too. Hope you are doing well...
  14. Hey Craig, How are you doing brother? I hope all is well with you and yours?
  15. Wow!!! Allan I haven't seen you on here in a very long time! How are you brother?
  16. Slight correction, the only thing that I might change would be some of the settings on the Xilica just cause I can!!!
  17. Chris, I agree with you on the learning it will never stop especially if you chase it. My learning now is about the tape machines, since they are big and hard to move I needed to learn to do as much as I can for them to avoid having to send them out. This is where my focus is currently and I am good with that.
  18. Agreed, I thought about Jub's as being the next thing but, my room isn't big enough! Hell the Khorns are really to big but I have had them forever and gotten use to the sound quality. I can't go backwards!!!
  19. Yes all three decks are Otari's, I need to change my signature. I sold off the Studer's because the Otari's sound better by a good margin...
  20. Well my journey is finally over I have been on this ride starting with this system in 2005, I love the way it sounds as is and will not be changing anything else ever again. My collection of tape decks is complete my TT will never be changed so I am good to go until I can't hear anymore. Does anyone else feel the same???
  21. This is what happened to me with my khorns, the difference was staggering to the point I went ahead and tri amped. i am never going back!!!
  22. Neil, We have a couple great FM stations here in New Orleans and I do like to listen on certain day/nights but, the compression just ruins the sound and makes it hard to enjoy... Jay
  23. Chris, Ok firstly my name is Jay, LOL!!! Now while I agree with you I was thinking more along the lines of using the Xilica to adjust just the FM Tuner channel I have created in the Xilica. Like maybe boosting the tweeters or mids a little but, you are correct there is more to it and I think I am hearing some bass and that's what may be creating the muddy sound... Jay
  24. Since the FM signal is so compressed with the ability to adjust individual drivers which area would you increase to offset the compression? Mids, or Tweeters?
  25. I had a couple friends over last week to listen to my system and check out two of my for sale reel2reels. Now to put things into perspective these are two guys that travel to alot of the audio shows during the year, they also both have deep pockets!!! So I let them get use to hearing my setup for a few tunes then I broke out the Master tape dubs I have!!! To say the least they were blown away by what they were hearing to the point they bought both tape decks and asked where they could get more tapes from!!! They both have recently bought the Xilica 4080 DSP and started to learn about REW, needless to say they want my help with that, I gladly said I would help. So I am thinking now that what I have thought for a long time is true, my system is sounding really as good as I thought. For these two guys who really don't know much about horn speakers and have a ton of cash in their systems, to give the praise they were giving just confirms everything that the members of this forum have known for a long time!!!
