  1. Hello: I'm just about finishing a new home and have the following laid out in a non-dedicated HT room. RF-7's, RC-7, KS-7800's surrounds and CDT-5800 backs. I want the RF-7 as close to the front wall as possible. Take a look at the pic. I was planning on using a VERY short 90 deg elbow on the back of the RF-7's port to re-direct the air up (which I have plenty of room). Hopefully a 6" elbow won't re-tune the speaker. But it will definilty allow the speaker to still breath. I plan on using a plumbing type fitting to get the air up. Should I even try it or will I get bad results? I'll be in the home in about a month. Jonathan
  2. Southern: Yeah I figured the R-5650-s didnt have the range of the RS-7. But there's no way I getting the wife to allow me to throw those on the sides. Has anyone here listened or have the R-5650's or KS-7800's?
  3. Hey All: I have a new home being built right now. I have a media room 13W x 17.5L x 10'H. I plan to use the following: RF-7's up front, RC-7, CDT-5800's for Surround back and a SVS PB12+/2 sub. The only thing I'm not sure with is to use R-5650-S for surround in walls or fork up the extra cash for a pair of KS-7800s. I just don't want to go with the R-5650's and then later find out it dosen't have the bite like the rest of the speakers. The only thing is heard the THX are for rooms larger than 3000 cuft and will it have the same timbre matching of the other speakers?. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks. Jonathan (cali)
  4. Thanks Wuzzer. I figured that. I also know that I'm supposed to be a couple of feet from the back, but thats just not do-able with the size of the room. I also know Its a rear firing port, I might try and see if I can re-port the air towards the front. With a plastic coduit, ie, pool or port matching tube. Hopefully that won't re-tune the enclosure. Jonathan
  5. Hello All: I'm currently building a new home, framing is up, so the media area I have isn't changing. I'm planning on using RF-7's up front, an RC-7, R-5650's for surrounds and CDT-5800's as back surrounds. I have a couple of options, with the media cabinet. I can leave the RF-7 on top of the cabinet and angle them inward, but i'm afraid the sound might be hindered being so high, dont think I can flip them upside down. Whats your opinion? I have 10' ceilings by the way. Or I can leave 18" off on each side of the cabinet, so that the RF-7's are flush w/ the floor. What do you guys think? Thanks. Jonathan (Cali)
  6. Is the info on the new Ultra's posted on Klipsch product site yet? Couldn't find a link for specs & dimensions. *** Duh-Oh......, thanks for the link above. ***
  7. Thanks Soundbroker: A couple of questions though, noticed the in-walls R-5800 and R-5650S don't have enclosures .... have you noticed any differences in bass response? Do you have to treat the wall cavity or build an enclosure inside? How did it perform at Reference levels for HT tracks? Was thinking about going with what you suggested.....but just saw online the RS-52 & 62 for surrounds. Have you tried these or installed any of these. Thanks.
  8. Buckeye: Just picked up a pair of RF-7's (goooood deal) going to be building my house this summer. Was thinking about matching them w/ the RC-64, (2) RS-62's and R-5800's for the back sourround. My room area is about 3000cuft (22x13.5x10). Also have a SVS 20-31+ to go along with it. What do you think will they all blend pretty well? Hope its not too much overkill. LOL. Jonathan
  9. Hi there: Couldn't pass up the great deal of Refurbished RF-7's directly from Klipsch on ebay. Picked them up today. I'm also currently planning to build my home...late summer/fall. Also going to structure wire the whole house, looking 5.1 upstairs bedroom and 7.1 HT/Den. Not going the fully automated $$$ way. Want to wire for future though. My home theater/media room (not dedicated) will be about 3,000 cuft(20'x15'x10'). Which Klipsch speakers should I match w/ it. RC-7 (center), R-5800's for surround & backsurround? Bummer is there no LA area Retailer that has theses to demo and I wanted to test these at reference levels. I called at least (10), including Ken Cranes in Calif. and no luck. Or should I go with KS-525 for the surrounds. This is my first MAJOR up grade. The fronts & center will go into a built-in cabinet. Using floor standing for the surrounds and back won't work (wife and young children and foot traffic). Told my wife, I'm gonna stick w/ these speakers for at least 10 years, (not sure she bought that, lol). Thanks for any help or tips.
