  1. I have a pair of unused Beyma cp25 tweeters for sale $250 shipped. Thanks
  2. Looks Good JC, Thanks for all the posts on your projects progression. I think you had mentioned going t work on a tall bass bin somewhere inthe near future. Is a tallscala next?
  3. Hi Chris, Those sound like some nice Cornwalls. Would you be willing to share your cad files for the original cabinets. I would love to bust out a set off a cnc machine. If you were I'd help share expenses etc, whatevers fair, I'm easy.
  4. Hey Chops, I've been able to pick up tidbits of info from every post and I was glas to hear you gave the thumbs up to Bob's tweeter. I'll be interested in hearing how his network tweak works on your Cornwalls!
  5. Wow, Great input everyone! I'm not at all stuck on using the stock Cornwall cabinet. I only have one and it is in storage in my warehouse down in Torrance,CA (I'm now in Portland, OR). Bob- Can you give me a detail list on the parts you put forth on your posted pic. Are those eminence 15" woofers, I assume your 125 tweeter, and what ebout the mid section who's driver etc. Also can you make a recomendation for a network for that combo. Please shoot me over some pricing it looks like a great setup! I really want to get going on this. JC- Wow! I really like the look of your latest cornwall incarnation. I would really like to build something like that. I think I would use Bob's components he layed out in tht pic. If you were to rebuild a pair, are there any cabinet changes you would make? Congradulations on all your hardwork, you're really an inspiration! Keep up the awsome work. Bhendrix- I like the layout, kind of a CornBelle. I also like the idea of using the trachorn from Al K. al little pricey though for a first time build.
  6. Are you wanting to use the original driver? Not especially, only if it is a general concensus that one should utilize original pieces. My cabinet is empty so I would need to buy everything Are you wanting to use the same midhorn? Not especially, if building the ultimate is to fill the cabinet with OEM pieces then so be it, but I see Crites and others developing better tweeters, networks, etc so I have to assume there is a better cornwall out there waiting to be built. Do you want a one cabinet design that includes all drivers or have a seperate top section? I think it could be either way, it would be nice to have seperates so one could tune in a room a little better. Do you want the same shape such that it remains the same width and height? Nope, but again I guess keep the same spirit , it shouldn't morph itself into a corner horn (natural evolution path). Want to make Custom grills or want a "decorator" look? I guess it would depend on the final incarnation, I like the decorator look, maybe cone covered with mesh cloth and the horn section exposed? Do you want to change any crossover points such as bring down the mid crossover lower than 600Hz? I would think it might be a good thing to drop the crossover point down a little bit. BIggest of all...how much do you you want to spend on the entire project? Lets say $2000 in parts tops for the pair. I Know Crites has built crossovers and a nice looking tweeter. I don't know if those tweeters would be appropriate in a cornwall or not. I searched the sight here and in the 2-way forum and couldn't find a lot of coverage on Cornwall mods. I thought it would be interesting to here peoples thoughts. Forget what I'm after, how would YOUR ultimate cornwall be put together. Let me reword it .... ' Describe the Perfect Woman ' GO! Thanks again fo the input, I do appreciate it.
  7. I'm interested in building a set of Cornwalls. I have an old cabinet to pattern it from, but would like to hear everyones ideas on building the ultimate DIY Cornwall. I know there are a number of upgrades to factory stuff including crossovers tweeters etc. I'd like to hear from all including components and cabinet mods. Give me your ultimate.
  8. Hello All, After twenty years of not having a descent stereo system I'm ready to get back into something. I used to have a set of La scalas powered by a Macintosh Ma6100 integrated amp. As a youngster I absolutely loved it. I used to crank everything from Judas Priest, to the Chili Peppers to Stevie Ray Vaughn. Today I still have the same spirit but I'm a bit more refined. I have a home Theater so I don't need a bunch of channels but want a nice stereo with one set of speakers in my living room (18 x 24') and an alternate set outside to fill in my veranda (cheaper outdoor in wall stuff). I've been looking at the Mcintosh MA 6500 amp and it brings up memories of the good old days (demoed it with dynaudio 220's nice but too much). I've also checked out the Rotel stuff and it seems pretty nice too and a lot cheaper (rb1090?). When it comes to the speakers I get lost. I instantly gravitate towards Belles or Lascala (no room for Khorn) and then think maybe a smaller cornwall would be better, or maybe the new Rf-7 or 83. My goal is nice tunes singing through my living room be it some nice smooth Jazz or the Chili Peppers. I also want it to be clean at low sound levels as well as really crank when I feel 21 again. Any input on systems and speakers would be great, I know every ear is different, and everything should be auditioned in every combination available. Unfortunately I can't find anyone in Portland, OR that has alll these components to put together or borrow so they can be put together. My target price for the speakers and amp/preamp is no more than $5k. Thanks in advance for the input!
