  1. Got a single Chorus 2 for sale but none of the original flavor.
  2. Three and a half hour camp out netted one Wii for myself. Wii sports is a blast with each sports game play being very enjoyable. I really enjoy Boxing, Bowling and Tennis. Playing two person boxing or tennis will have just about anyone sold on this system. I am holding off on playing Zelda until I get my componet cables in the mail tomorrow!
  3. I have a few pairs of Fortes and one set of Chorus for sale in the North County (Carlsbad) area of San Diego. Shipping either of these speakers is not advised, all of mine were aquired through local pickup. The Chorus pair are WO with good corners and a few veneer dings (one big scrape) here and there 8 out 10 veneer condition / 10 out of 10 driver condition. Three pair of Fortes, one WO in excellent condition 9-10 out of 10, one OO sans risers in 8 of 10 condition (rear passive is missing dustcap), and one OO with beatup risers and pushed in dust caps (I believe) 8 out of 10 condition. I will try and post a few pics of the Chorus later today and if needed go take the pics of the Fortes. Give a PM or post back if you are interested.
  4. Samsung has been on the bleeding edge of DLP technology since Texas Instruments started selling their chips. Mistubishi had some of the best quality CRT front (for computer monitors) and rear projection CRTs. RP CRT still has the best overall image quality for DvD movies when compared to any digital tech IMO.
  5. I don't know a whole lot about front projectors but if you head over to avsforum.com that would be the first place that I would start for learning. Cheers
  6. Another vote for Yammie and Klipsch combo. I got a helluva deal on a used RX-V1500 through craigslist - $200.00. The HTR series specs makes me cringe at .7% THD. The digital panny listed in this thread might be a good option to go with Buckster.
  7. Nope, not buying one nor have I bought any Sony hardware since the original PS1. Nintendo has it right IMO for this generation. No super high res, 480 p, easy to use development tools. no multi core processing, new controller tech (they were first with the d-pad, analog stick now the gyro controller) and a back to the basics fun that video games are supposed to have. Games have become way too bloated due to an emphasis on graphics over game play. There were a handful of titles that were really unique on the PS 2 but alas that did not make me want to buy one. Gamecube had a ton of unique titles (mainly from Nintendos in house developement) which for me drives the sale of the hardware.
  8. If you are looking for a good set of floorstanders and want vintage Klipsch might I suggest buying a pair of Fortes instead. They dig much deeper (-3 db @ 32 Htz) and IMO are just better overall speakers than the Heresys for two channel listening. The Quartet, Forte and Chorus are what some would term Neo-Heritage Klipsch as PWK still had a hand in their design.
  9. Not real familiar with the AR 142 but I have restored a few pairs of ARs in the past. I don't exactly know what might be "broken" on your speakers but my guess the foam surrounds went south and need replacement (which you can do yourself). Check ebay for vintage-ar seller as he tends to stock parts for most of the 60s to 80s AR speakers. Next head to classicspeakers.net and try to gather any information or parts that you might need.
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-KLF-20-Replacements_W0QQitemZ280047239532QQihZ018QQcategoryZ61378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thought someone might have a use for em.
  11. KG 4 is a good choice but you could also get the KG 5.5 at around $300.00. I listen and own a pair of 5.5s and they are a pretty good speaker but the three way heritiage and neo hertiage klipsch blow the doors on them.
  12. Another vote for Orange County Speaker Repair if you are on the West coast. This is a fine place to go for all repairs and less costly components.
  13. I second throwing another $100.00-$150.00 in the pot and getting a good floorstander. My suggestion would be to get a local Klipsch Forte for $400.00-$450.00. Forte is a lot of speaker for the money.
  14. Eghad 2 gigs of ram? Heck no, unless you plan on running high end games, video / music recording / editing, or heavy duty photoshop use there is absolutely no reason to get 2 gigs. Dual core? Please people don't buy in to this marketing trickery. Your average computer user does not need that much computing power. If you computer was working for you just fine and dandy the first few years (and your application use has not changed) then stick with the old machine as it is still viable.
  15. Well the whole no two channel listening throws me for a loop here. In HT your L, C, and R speakers are the most important. First off go demo (in two channel) the Synergy series and the RB series and find out which is more pleasing to your ear. Take the winner of the comparison from the above and compare it to the Jammo offerings. My point of all this is buy speakers that are pleasing to your ear. Many people do not like the sound of Klipsch.
  16. I've been very pleased with the capability of a Marrantz 4300 amp / receiver. I am guessing that most of the other vintage Marrantz 70s stuff would have a tuner at least comprable to the 4300.
  17. 4. Old OS install with lots of stuff in your systray is my guess. How many icons do you have running to the left of the clock? Do you have antivirus running in the background? 5. Could be quite a few issues, hard to nail it down but my guess is something is writing to your hard drive when this happens. 8. Msofts defrag is Nortons old tech (they bought it from them). No idea which is better... 9. Backup to optical, partition the new drive so that C: is reasonably small (6-10 gigs for XP) so just your OS will be installed on it, reformat (it is probably way overdue), reinstall and never install anything on the C drive if you can help it. Reformatting and backing up is much easier when you have the OS install and anything else on seperate partitions. Do the backup in 10-30 minute increments a day and you wont get burnt out doing it all at once. All of the Windows operating systems tend to bog down after years of use. Only option that I have used to avoid this is to use Linux instead of M$.
  18. I always thought these were an amazing design and piece of furniture. I still have yet to take up a friendly San Diego Macintosh seller on his offer to listen to his set. "No other loudspeaker developed by JBL has the mystique or desirability of the D44000 Paragon. It was a landmark product, based on a unique design principle, that remained in production longer than any other speaker system from JBL. It was introduced in 1957 and continued in JBL's line-up until 1983. Richard Ranger Article Courtesy of George Augspurger The Paragon is a stereo speaker system installed in a single cabinet. It is based on a diffusion principle developed by Richard Ranger as consultant to JBL. The midrange drivers fire towards a curved wood panel that reflect the sound waves to create a wide, spacious stereo image."
  19. Hey Ear! What do you think of the JL compared to any of the Sunfire dual and single driver subs for two channel music listening? On the whole what do you think of the Sunfire subs for two channel music listening? Reason why I ask is I can hook a deal getting Sunfire subs and just want to know how musical they are. Thanks in advance!
  20. First time for owning tube amps myself (age 34) and I am sorry it took so long for me to own a pair. I can pretty much echo all the comments that Fritz has already said. Sadly I still have yet to hook these up to the big bad *** speakers (Chorus 2 and AR 9s) but I did dial the bias in this morning while powering a pair of old Infinity RS-1 bookshelf speakers. Need to make a trip to Frys for some speaker wire and terminal lugs (ugh, no bananna plug recepticals).
  21. Very sad to see him go. I don't watch much T.V. but I make it a point to try and watch 60 Minutes every Sunday as it is such a good news / interview program.
  22. For around $600.00 you can build yourself a brand new awesome close to top of the line system these days. $400.00 would net you something very good in the used market. My suggestions: 939 Athlon 64 @ or around 2 Ghz Reputable mobo manufacturer (Abit, Asus, DFI, EpoX) 1 Gig o Ram 80-300 gig HD Lite-on or NEC 3550 DvD drive Fotron or Sparkle power supply - buy good PSUs
  23. Do you use your machine for gaming, rendering, photo editing, or massive multitasking operation that would need lots of CPU cycles or memory? If you are just doing normal MS office apps, outlook and a few other programs my suggestion is to check your hard drive RPM and PATA interface speeds. Hard drive speeds are the most limiting factor as far as precieved computing speed for your average user. If you have 7200 RPM drives ATA 66-100 speeds then upgrading to a RAID, SATA, or even SCSI won't net you that much as far as speed increase for cash outlay. I've done installs of Win XP lite on a pentium 200-500 mhz machines with 128 megs of ram and it is fine for running 2-3 general appications (outlook, word, browser) at the same time. Next biggest peformance increase would come from a fresh OS install.
  24. Not a DvD but a must have listening test disc for low instrumental bass: Flim and the BB's - Tricycle Tracks 1 5 or 6 are pretty amazing Title wise: Thunder and Birdies and the 8:05 Absolutely an amazing digital recording.
