  1. The Pearl is the river in question. She is 1-2 miles from a boat launch into the Pearl. It still appears as though the water is going down (in their yard) pending the cresting river and "branch" overflow which runs walking distances from their property as well. They are projected to receive electric service back late tonight or possibly tomorrow. Will update if necessary.
  2. UPDATE FROM THE DTEL CLAN: This is Jennifer, Dtel's middle daughter. All are safe. No damage or flooding at this point. We are still catching the outer bands of Isaac with some pretty heavy wind and rain. Dtel's Wife (my mom) made this post on FB from her cell: "As of now we still do not have power. There are several trees down and across the roads which have taken power lines out with them. The flood waters have risen to levels that make either road leading to and fin our home impassable. Still have some fuel for the generator and are anxiously watching the radar and crest times for the river. At this time the water is still flowing AWAY from us, but the water level surrounding our home is causing enormous stress. Thank you God for sparing us thus far from the misery and despair so many others are experiencing. Lord please comfort all of my friends and relatives who are in the midst of this storm. Please give them strength and courage." My home has maintained power throughout this storm. As you can see, however, my parents can not get out to get here. Please continue to pray for our family and friends down here as Isaac leaves and we pick up the remains and rebuild, once again!

  6. Well, for those of you who don't know me, I am Dtel's middle daughter. From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of my grandmother, my mother, an my father, I sincerely thank each of you for your thoughts and prayers. Each of you have become a part of our extended family and I appreciate all of you for being there for my parents. I sure am lucky to have such a wonderful family. It is with sadness that I say I regret that it takes something like this for me to tell my family how I feel!
  7. Is it safe to assume that those of us so unfortunate to not have been "titled" are just lowly serfs??
  8. I think I probably hold the record for fewest posts.....this makes the big 8-0-!!!

  11. Anyone got travel plans coming up? Summer is approaching, just wondering where the "hot vacation spots" are this year! Perhaps someone in the Dtel clan (besides me) can inform us of their quickly approaching travels????? I'm not telling but I will tell you that my six year old is completely excited to be going with her Maw Maw and Paw Paw!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. "Woman in love" By Barbara Streisand Geez, I'm a youngen!
  13. How awful!!! A few months back, here in our town, a freak accident occurred that certainly makes you think about how precious life is! A mother and father were home with their toddler (18 mth old). The grandmother came over to visit and the little girl, by the end of the visit, was napping. Well, the parents started arguing over something, apparently over something to do with the grandmother. The grandmother exited the house and got in her vehicle. She was backing out of the driveway and ran over the child (the one that was supposed to be napping). Later, it was discovered that in the middle of the argument between the parents and the grandmother, the child awoke and made it out of the house while the parents and the grandmother were in and out of the house arguing. I, personally, don't know the family but at one point in time, the child attended the same daycare as my youngest daughter (who is about 6 months younger than this child). Needless to say, the parents didn't press charges on the grandmother and the charges that were picked up by the state were dismissed because the parents of the child testified that it was a freak accident. There are so many tragic events that for only a short time make you wake up. But it's saddening to see how quickly we go back into our "normal" routines of life and begin to take life for granted again. I know there are times that I need to just slow down and enjoy my babies growing up. Life passes by so fast and it's difficult to just STOP and enjoy it!
  14. Working on the husband as we speak....will inform as soon as I have a definite!
  15. I am assuming that should my husband and I decide to attend, we are covered under the headline "and the rest of the dtels" as Amy has labeled us? I want to attend, it's talking my Husband into it that's the problem!
  16. We make jokes all the time about Dtel regarding his "hearing" or lack thereof.... I was watching a movie with one of Dtel's grandkids and Dtel's Wife one evening. It was some sort of horse movie or something....They said the horse's name and I didn't catch it. So I asked Dtel's Wife "What was that horse's name?". She replied "Lightning". DTEL, who was in another room occupied on the computer (probably this forum), says "Where?". He missed everything except the word "LIGHTNING"!!! Selective hearing, selective memory, IT'S ALL THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Not too bad.... 16 out of 20. There were a few tricky ones though!
  18. Does wishing that I lived in California count? I am currently in Mississippi, but wouldn't mind temporarily relocating to Cali....heard there's some traveling to be done and sights to be seen out there ....[^o)]

  23. YES! That will help ALOT. And yes, without you saying...you are probably right! Jamie told me that the suspense was killing her and that she was asking everyone in the house questions. Finally, someone gets to surprise mom for once! We (the daughters) have never been able to keep secrets from her. I think this secret is killing US more than it is HER!
