  1. The switch on the CP-1 just mutes the speakers (+sub), it leaves the headphone jack and everything else on. ?, it probably cost more money, and to compete with the other speakers coming out, Klipsch had to drop some good features to keep the price reasonable. I haven't noticed any problems yet, and besides muting the input when I go to bed, they're always on.
  2. Well I think Paragon has definitely earned his "worthiness" He doesn't even have the Pros, and yet he's still posting.. Have fun with your Pros!
  3. I don't think I've ever seen that smiley before.....especially not on this BB.
  4. Okay so the general contention is to buy another non-Pro sub. What does everyone suggest? And how would you connect it?
  5. I thought this topic was about sub placement. What's this about reincarnation?
  6. Yes that's easy. I had that same soundcard and the Pros sounded just fine. Just go to your local radio shack and buy a y-jack (the model number is in your manual). It's only about $5 and it has one male plug and 2 female jacks (looks like a Y, hence the name). Then you should be able to get sound from all 4 sats. I had that setup for about 6 months before I bought a Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer 5.1. The 5.1 part is not necessary and will not help the Pros, so if you feel the need to upgrade, look for a regular SB Live! (Value, X-Gamer, MP3+, they're all the same card, just with different software bundles.) Enjoy your Pros! Sam
  7. lol You can always return them and buy the others if you decide differently.
  8. Who thought up the name of LAME? I must say, it's original.
  9. XPhys is right. Don't just crank the sub all the way up when you first get it out of the box, do it all gradually and become accustomed to the Klipsch sound. Also, refer to a much earlier post (I think by Seb) about "breaking-in your pros". It'll add to the longevity (or something like that, but check it out anyway) Hope this helps, Sam
  10. The location of the sub really matters when determining the 'boom' of the sub. It will sound much better if it's set up (positioned) correctly, versus just lying there in a large open room next to your chair. When I moved my sub from the corner to behind my desk next to the wall, I noticed a hugedifference in how it felt.
  11. Calm down! Klipsch will release the speakers when they run out of 'old' Pros. Buy a set of 2.1s and then return them when the 4.1s come out if you're really that impatient.
  12. Seb, the posts are a minute apart and the flood control time is now set to 30 seconds instead of 1 minute.
  13. No matter what system you get, you should be pleased.
  14. You could turn the bass down, and adjust the mids in an equalizer, though. But since you said you've done lots of tinkering, I'll assume you've done it already. Anyway, about your question, I've heard good things about the Sirocco Crossfires, and it's around $425 or so (US price, it's much cheaper in the UK). The reviews I've read have been excellent (like the reviews of the Pros ), and if you've got the money, it's worth the price. Hope this helps, Sam
  15. I have one and am pleased with it. I don't think it was a waste of money. The speaker on/off is nice, the headphone and line-in jacks work as promised, and the higher gain is really nice. The entire unit seems much sturdier and tougher, and as far as sound quality goes, I think it sounds better, but that could just be because I rearranged my desk. I don't know if someone with more experience has it, but they probably would be a little more helpful.
  16. Can you use VMWare (or a related product) on a Win98SE based machine?
  17. It also helps where you put the sub. I noticed a huge difference when I got my new desk in and I put the sub behind a cabinet with a glass cover aimed at my chest. Or you could just turn down the bass a little (or don't use winamp's equalizer on full bass )
  18. Sure thing Amy! Have fun on your vacation!
  19. that's true. Otherwise you would have been posting, and posting, and posting, and no one would have replied...
  20. 10th Page? 10th Page? it'll be a while. ---------- Klipsch Rules.
  21. There was an article in the November 2000 issue of Maximum PC on that. It showed you exactly how to do that (2 ways). If you can't find it on their site (www.maximumpc.com) email me at sam_dalton@Hotmail.com and I'll scan it in and send it to you or upload it and post it here. Hope this helps, Sam
  22. If I remember correctly, there was some software for this exact purpose. I don't know what it had in it, as far of hardware or anything, but it had a real simple name, like Internet Connection Sharer or something like that.
