  1. IDK, one listen of the RF7 llls and I wouldn't be thinking about when the next gen is coming out, they sound pretty dang good!
  2. Wouldn't it be a blast to compare speakers all day, sign me up!
  3. Jason is right, but in your case with the couch against the back wall, that will work WITH you if you mount the surround speakers on the back wall. I don't really like book shelf speakers on stands in this case, just because they take up so much room. This doesn't look like a dedicated home theater room, it looks more like a normal living room in hopes of making it sound better. I'm all for just mounting them flat on the back wall. If your receiver has a set-up mic, that'll help with any miss-placement issues.
  4. I'd love to take the JL Audio sub for a spin. I have a 13W7 in my car, wow
  5. I turned on the system, I noticed right away that the sub was not playing, RSW10-D. The screen turns on, but it's blank, it just lights up. I unplugged it for about 10 minutes, still nothing. Is there a way to reset the unit?
  6. So are the Khorns the set to aim for? I wonder what the differance is between those and the RF-7's?
  7. Maybe I don't understand the "speaker envy" comment, but that is something I have for sure! Many hours on product web pages. I just can't listen to the speakers I didn't buy yet, so for now, I play what I have:)
  8. I'm thinking it's pretty damn great! Depth, clarity, detail and the ability to make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Even though they're not in the reference line, you still can't lift your nose at the KG5.5's. I have mine teamed up with a Denon AVR3808 with the Audyssey EQ set-up and a Klipsch RSW10D for a sub, I've also upgraded to the titanium diaphragms. Just lost in the moment while rock'n the Black Eyed Peas album. Now I just need a room that doesn't resonate:)
  9. Damn, well it looks like I'll be spending some more money:) I already have the titanium diaphragms for mine, I might have to step up to the cross overs too. I'm powering mine with a Denon 3808, seems like a good combo.
  10. I'm running a set of KG 5.5's. It's cool to hear this line still talked about. I have them powered by a Denon 3808, I'm sure my neighbors can comment on the sound:)
  11. Not to get off topic, but Bill, how do you like F113's?
  12. I live in Champlin, but sorry, I don't have a torn harley shirt:)
  13. In addition, I find iTunes very easy to use, music bought on iTunes can also be burned to a disk, and you can also load music to iTunes from a CD or any music that has been down loaded from a web site. Check out the iTune Nano.
  14. Any update on the JL sub, are you still not happy with it?
  15. haha, well come on, you did notice the "" after the question though, right? I would feel better about this if my financial situation was just a weeee bit better. And come on, the RF-83's can't sound THAT much better then my current KG5.5's anyway, can they? I have a feeling that's another dumb question:)
  16. An authorized on-line retailer has a set of RF-83's for a $1,000, shipped. Someone tell me why I shouldn't do this:)
  17. Alright, I just installed my new Ti diaphragms. I don't know if they need a break-in period but I gave them a work out from the start. They put a smile on my face, but not really what I was hoping. Digging through the settings on the Denon 3808 receiver, I found the Night Mode was set to High. Haha, I turned off the night mode, and I got another smile on my face:) But still not where I'd like it to be. I'd like to know where the cross-over point is between the horn and woofer? Because I don't think my problem is with the horn. I want to say my 5.5's are still a little muddy between about 400Hz to 1,000Hz. I'm sure the horn doesn't go as low as 1,000Hz. It's like the 5.5's should have had a 6.5" woofer to handle the frequency between the 10" woofers and the horn, I don't know. It's like the 10" woofers don't respond as fast as they should. That's a little confusing for me because while wiping the dust off the woofers with a dry micro towel, I noticed how freely the cone moves, no effort to make it move at all. Another thought I have, I wonder if it would help sound quality if I tore the speakers down to bare box and coated the inside of the box with Spectrum from Second Skin. I have some laying around. Maybe I should have started a new thread, don't mean to hi-jack.
  18. Alright, I just got the new Ti diaphragms from Crites. When putting them it, I noticed a black plastic piece that covered the dome of the factory diaphragm. Do I need to reinstall this? I don't see it used in the installation steps from Crites.
  19. Montigue231, What did you have done to your 5.5's to have everyone drooling over?
  20. Sounds good. I hope these new diaphragms liven up the highs.
  21. I'm going to be calling Crites tomorrow for a set of the titanium diaphragms. It looks easy to install and should be able to do it myself, but where are you located, I'm now in Ramsey. Are there any modifications to the cross-overs I need to do with these new diaphragms? I see they offer a cross-over repair kit. Does this kit keep the cross-over at stock specs, or does it modify it? I'm curious to know, but I'll find out when I call them.
  22. No way, this is awesome!!! I haven't been on this forum in a while. What brings me here today is to find out how to make my KG5.5's sound better. I'm targeting the highs. After installing my new car stereo with 2 sets of Boston SPZ 60's, the highs on the KG5.5's just don't cut it any more. The tweets on the SPZ's are unbelievable. So I'm willing to learn what I can do to the KG5.5's. I'm using a Denon 3808
  23. My Denon DVM1815 multi DVD player crapped out on me. Stopped picking up the disk. It's under warranty, looks like I will get $300 in-store credit at ultimate electronics rather then fix it. So, the question now is what to get to replace it? I was looking at at getting a Denon DVD1940CI. Multi disk is not important. I had the thought of getting a HD or Blu-ray player, but feel it's best to hold off on those until they get hashed out. My denon 3808 receiver has HDMI in and out, my 1080i rear projection TV only supports component input. I'm looking at updating the TV to a Mitsubishi XX733 or XX734, which both has HDMI. With this set-up, what type of resolution can I expect with the Denon 1940CI using standard DVD's? It says the 1940CI will up-scale to 1080p. Now, does that mean I can view standard DVD's at 1080p if I get the up-dated Mitsubishi TV? I'm also looking at getting into DVD audio and SACD.
  24. Wait, there's more. I just noticed a pile of sheet-rock dust on my A/V cabinet right above one of the ceiling lights. Turns out it shook the shit right out of it. I'm going to end up getting the cops called on me. WOW
