Matrix, quadrophonic, it's all fun. Was a thing, upon a time.

With an old Sansui model, more fun.

My favorite is listening to my 5.1 mix SACD's with my RF7/RC7/RS7 HT system.

Ha! I never listen to 2 channel. Up until last year I was like the Southern gentleman for almost 2 decades with multichannel concert videos thrown in...That said, lately I've been watching YouTube videos matrixed into 9.2 using Dolby PLIIz and am impressed how it works.

I go on vacay and use a tent!  Carry on!  lol   :)

That used to be me--My favorite trip was a solo 5 week adventure that started with my first night of camping (ever) in Berlin where I stayed for 5 days. I then took a night train to Amsterdam where I stayed another week and then made my way to Mainz along the Rhine in a Northface Tadpole tent for the remaining 3 weeks or so...

When balancing the SPL's, the RF-3's needed a slight level increase, which tracks given the stated 98db v. the 99db of the RF-5's.

Ha! I did an in-store comparison using an SPL meter to level-match them when I was using the former as surrounds with RF-7s up front. I couldn't tell them apart so I stuck with the 3s until I found a second pair of RB-75s to use as surrounds and back speakers in a 7.1 (2) configuration. 😊

  4. Thanks for posting this @Paducah Home Theater. There are no frequencies that dip below 4 Ohms so I don't understand where the Fortes would struggle using a quality, mid-grade AVR...

I've had Fortes sustaining 110 db on bass boosted Eminem with a 40 watt half sized Marantz NR 1607 so yeah it will work fine.

Impressive and that's with a lower end AVR. 😮 Did you hear any clipping?

Biggest problem with receivers is that when there are big dynamics that coincide with an impedance dip, which will happen, the receiver can kind of choke and you can hear it.  At lower volumes you probably won't be able to tell them apart.

Interesting...Where are the impedance dips on the Fortes that cause the most problems? 🤔 I actually thought they could be classified as "8 Ohm" speakers because they didn't have the jagged Frequency Response Curve that affected the RF-7s (and assumed others in the Reference line and below).

RF7 networks  sounds great with 0 complaints   whether the 1st-2nd or 3rd generation

I wouldn't say "0" complaints, but most seem happy without purchasing aftermarket crossovers. I toyed with the idea once but decided I was happy with what I had.

I currently live in a new home and have to use our great room for watching movies, listening to music, etc. My wife and I are in our 70's and have downsized. The sound equipment we have are:

    Marantz SR7015

    Klipsch RF 83 Front

Klipsch RC 64 1st release purchased shortly after the RF 83's

    Velodyne Optimum 12 Sub

The Fives for surround connected wirelessly to avoid cables on the floor

Bowers and Wilkens 4 each CCM663 ceiling speakers for Atmos

I am considering purchasing the Forte IV to replace the RF 83's and want opinions, Is the 7015 ok for power and would this be a good upgrade?

Fwiw, you have a very nice system already and I would listen to the Forte IVs before considering them an "upgrade." It's easy to spend someone else's money and at what cost? Regardless, thank you for your service.

I am running them large.  That was the first thing I changed.  I do find them  still a bit brighter than I like but one step at a time ;)

Fwiw, if you are running them as Large you aren't crossing the lower end to the subs. If you set them back to Small I'd definitely lower the crossover to 80 Hz or below.

I'm old school too, but I did find these alternative helpful, and got me to a live person the fastest:

You can also send an email to service@klipsch.com or contact them through the "Contact Us" page on their website.

This seems like good information and should be on the first post as an alternative. Fwiw and given this is pinned Roy's response could be outdated  My unsolicited 2 cents.

Lol, yes going to sell my Klipsch because of CS.

    Get a better gripe...

Fwiw, I didn't see anyone making that claim. Otoh, saying anyone should "get used" to lousy Customer Service on the company's Forum seems outta place.

anytime peak season hits , backlogs are to be expected ,  klipsch implemented a ticket system  a while back that avoids being on hold on the phone  ,

the customer fills the online support form , once the form is received by klipsch CS via email , the request are handled in the order they were received , and CS responds to the email once the person's turn comes around based on that list  ,

If that's the case maybe THAT'S what should be on the first post of this thread instead of what's there? This is a current stickied thread dealing with a problem Klipsch acknowledged on the first post they had.

Again, I have to think YOU could have the answer to this guy's question. @Erik WithaK take a shot and ask your question here. 🤔

This experience just might have changed my dedication and support to Klipsch. Frustrating to say the least.

Hopefully after reading this they will reach out to you. Fwiw, I had a similar situation 15 years ago and I'm still here.

    Unacceptable. Sorry Klipsch.

    Of course not.

you'd better get used to it , cause that's the new reality across all North America   and with all industries  , forget the old days, the world has changed ,

Fwiw, this is a CUSTOMER SERVICE problem and Klipsch should be able to respond to the OP appropriately. That's my take and feel they will resolve the situation with this dude...Heck, if it's advice he's looking for you may be just the person to help him!

Happy New Year to you all! This begins my 23rd year on the K-forum. Ha Ha, I don't know what to think of that.

Happy New Year, Mark! I'm almost a newbie compared to you and who knew you were an excellent photo artist???😎 Heck, I enjoyed the 15 years of "tell me what you really think" days but everything, everywhere has calmed down since then. Lol as the kids say.

Probably right, he will be a happy camper. For many if not most, the Forte is the sweet spot with regards to the number of rooms it would be ideal for. Not too large, not too small...

    And surely

...So, my question to the group is, will I hear a noticeable improvement switching from the RP-600m and sub to the Forte IV?

    The answer is, "Yes."

As I said, my current setup sounds really good to me, but curious if the speakers would make a noticeable improvement.

I still think what I thought before though:

Am I missing something or are you comparing a $250 speaker to a $5,000 speaker?

    Do any car analogies come to mind? 🤔 {Note: I'm being rhetorical :)}
