  1. IMO, if you buy RB-75's -- You won't have a small system []
  2. If you can find a used Denon AVR-3803 I don't think you will be disappointed. I have mine running a 5.1 Legend setup in a 1600 sq. ft room and it sounds sweet. I picked it up a couple of years ago when it was discontinued for under $800 NIB. $500 on EBAY sounds doable. []
  3. The RS-7's are good speakers and have the "WDST" technology that helps placement in less than perfect situations. That being said-- IMO, your RB-35's (I thought you said you had floorstanders) would work equally as well if you can put them where you want. {edit: The RC-7 would be a better investment than purchasing RS-7 surrounds if you already have the RB-35's []}
  4. I don't think you will be disappointed in them, but keep the receipt . [] That also is a good price. Were you able to audition them in the store against the RF-5?
  5. Thanks for posting the pictures. Are we going to see any footage of you guys in High Definition on HD NET? [:^)]
  6. I agree staying in the budget is very important for true happiness in this Hobby. [] That being said, I don't think stores are going to have the RF-5's or RB-75's in stock for very much longer (if they have any at all) since they are discontinued. That's not to say that the new Reference line won't have some great speakers, but there may be a sale on remaining merchandise and you could get a good deal. [] Good luck. {edit: The RC-7 center channel would be a great investment to use with any of the speakers you mentioned and if it could be picked up at a good price, would keep you from feeling the need to upgrade your system--Maybe ever }
  7. Hey mojoX, It would be a close call between the RF-5's and RB-75's if you are using these in a multi-channel or HT situation. If you have a sub and I would have to choose on a "Bang-for-your-buck" basis--the RB-75's. I use those for mains in my bedroom (and rears in my main HT) and they really fill the room with quality sound for music and work seamlessly with my RC-7 for movies. When you decide to add surrounds, they will still be great to use as mains--or if you are lucky enough to find a pair of RF-7's at a good deal--Move the RB-75's to surrounds and have an obscene Home Theater. []
  8. My Denon AVR-4802-R THX Ultra II receiver is awesome. I've owned it for over 2 years and have never had a problem with it. It allows you to have 2 sets of side surrounds which is a cool feature for speaker aficionados. I run my "A" surround, RF-3's for multichannel audio and add my "B" surround RS-7's for DVD movies in a quasi-9.2 scenario. []
  9. No, I haven't. There is a long story why I have two subs. The bottom line was when I put the RSW -15 behind me without the RSW 12 in front, the sound was directional. Adding the RSW-12 really balanced it out and sounds incredible. They are positioned at right angles of each other (one on side wall facing in, the other on the rear wall): The pics are in the photo section.
  10. I missed that thread, but the Klipsch forum was also down all weekend.
  11. In the set up menu you should have something that asks you if you have a subwoofer. If you answer no, your AVR will do the rest.
  12. Some of what you write I agree with--some of it I don't. The lecturing aspect of your view was interesting [] For the purpose of this thread I must say, I like touting that my speakers were made in Hope, Arkansas. []
  13. {Edit: Oops. I thought you were asking about the price difference between the AVR-3803 and the RXV-800 at the time--not the 3805. [:$]}
  14. When I originally purchased my Yammi RSV 800, I talked myself out of the Denon 3803 (It was about $400 difference, if I am remembering right) because I thought their WPS was similar and watts were watts. To make a long story short, after hearing the performance difference in the two I tried to rationally deduce why. What I came up with was that the Denon used better amps (weighed more?) that needed more power (don't have the 3803 book in front of me but the AVR- 3805 is similar and it's power consumption is rated at 7.1 Amps--considerably more than the Yamaha's) to deliver the goods at higher volumes into 5 or more channels. BTW, I ended up getting the AVR-3803 at a good deal when it got discontinued. If I would have purchased that AVR first--I wouldn't have needed to get another receiver and would have saved money in the long run. []
  15. So was the Denon AVR 3803 when it was released. I think the difference in the 2 units, and in similar comparisons, is that the Denon's are high current designs. BTW, they also weigh more than the Yammi's.
  16. Try and find a good deal on the recently discontinued RC-7 center. That would be your best matched center channel and it is awesome. There are several routes to go on the sub and I am a fan of the RSW-15, but I feel there are cheaper alternatives. As for your SF-1's? I think they would suffice as surrounds, but I would be on the look out for used or discounted upper end reference. IMO, you can get by without a sub, but not after you have owned one [].
  17. If I am remembering right-- the RF-7, RC-7, RF-5's (and I think the RB-75's) along with the Heritage line are made in Hope. I wonder if anything in the New Reference line is made here in the US [:^)].
  18. I feel it will. Not only that, if loudness isn't an issue in your apartment, I think you will notice a difference in sound that you could appreciate there as well. My Main HT listed below is in a less than 16' by 22' area (albeit with high ceilings) and I am fortunate that I can crank it as loud as I want for as long as I want and my ears don't suffer.[] But again, that is just my experience--keep your receipt [])
  19. Yamaha makes good products. I was perfectly happy with my Yamaha's (owned 3 AVRs) until I put my RXV 800 and Klipsch Legend HT in a large room where it sounded bright, before it sounded loud. I couldn't stand it. After auditioning several receivers, I purchased the Denon 3803 ( right when it was being discontinued--good price []) and it made a MAJOR difference in sound quality in that larger room (1600 sq. ft). I now have the AVR listed below and haven't felt the need to upgrade--That is my experience.
  20. I have a pair of RF-3's that I use as side surrounds and they are lifted a foot off the ground ( with RS-7's on top of them to use as "b"surrounds[H]) to get the horn tweeters the same height as my RF-7's (which are on 3 inch stands). I can post a pic.
  21. Get the RC-7 and save up for another RC-35 (used at a great price) to use in a 7.1 configuration (if your HK is 7.1). If you really want to keep the RC-35, the The RS-7's would be good to add for 7.1, but I wouldn't opt them over your RF-25's for 5.1.
  22. Welcome to the forum CUTTERS. I would also go with PKG 2. I have the RB-75's/RC-7 Combo in my bedroom (paired with a lower end sub and RS-3's) and it sounds better than practically every home theater I have heard (outside of some outrageous ones that I have experienced through Klipsch get-togethers [])
  23. The RS-7's are nice speakers and would work well with your set-up. That being said if budget is important I would look at other upgrades []. My 2 cents. {edit: everybody's HT room is different--I suggested what I would do in my room with your stuff)
  24. brokenarrow1, I would upgrade to the RC-7 and keep the RF-25's for side surrounds. If you are pleased with the thump the RSW 10 makes (which I think you would) I would save up and purchase a 7 channel AVR (edit: if your HK isn't already) and maybe use your RC-35 for a rear 6th channel (and even try and find another one at a good price later on for 7.1)[]
  25. Which format does yours play, HD or Blue Ray? I thought the NeuNeo's only upconverted 480p DVD's.[:^)]
