It's just too heavy! ---------------- In light of WS65711 observations, I would disregard my comments and consider bvkirby recommendation
  2. I am not familiar with the newer models of Mitsubishi so I don't know what series the 65-711 is. I have a Mitsubishi 65-909 Diamond and have been COMPLETELY impressed and pleased with it. I chose the upper end model for several technical reasons but I didn't realize that the piano finish (i.e., hard plastic) would be one of the biggest benefits. For the last 3 years I have had not only my center speaker on it but 2 DVD players, DirectTV decoder, monster hts 2600 and AV receiver. I have no signs of bowing. Of course YMMV.
  3. A belated welcome to the forum from Texas.Definitely post pics when you get it set up. Insofar as speaker stands for your center channel--I highly recommend a Mitsubishi 65 inch Diamond RPTV

While a great disk, in terms of multichannel I felt this was a missed opportunity. ---------------- I have to admit "Sweet Emotion" on this SACD makes it for me. I like 2 or 3 more of the songs. I think concert videos have spoiled me because I am accustomed to having more quality songs to enjoy.
  5. BTW. My favorite Elton SACD is "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy." I can't include "Yellowbrick Road," because I own that in DVD-A. Foxman, I appreciate the Bon Jovi & Roxy Music recommendation and may consider them. I can't bring myself to buy the Alison Kraus SACD because I purchased one of her DVD video's and wasn't impressed--I guess it's not my style of music. I also won't buy The Who's live SACD because it was something like $26.99.
  6. Peter Gabriel's "UP," sounds great in multichannel SACD. Both David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" and Aerosmith's "Toys in the attic" are good recordings and bring back memories. I agree with the Elton John collection. I don't understand why more superstar groups don't release multi channel recordings. In fact, I think we just named all of the SACD's worth owning.
  7. We had a thread going over the weekend where we realized that several of us had mislabeled RC-7's with a similar problem (i.e., "Power rating 125, 150, or 200" on the sticker.)The moderator chimed in after being e-mailed and said that some RC-7's were mislabeled and RC-7's are all rated at 200 watts. I don't understand how this could be done on a consistent basis with several different numbers, but "stuff" happens. He also said that labels from an authorized dealer are gold and brown. I am sorry I didn't get with you sooner--I was off duty yesterday
  8. Thanks for the consideration again, Art. It's getting late and I had better get to bed. Speaking of friends and moving--It appears Russ was a help and neither one of us had to buy his beer. Seriously, If you can sell it tonight--Do it! Good night. In Russ's best voice "Elvis has left the building!"

Russ, you're killin me...too funny.... ---------------- Russ IS having a good night and I appreciate his help I also understand where you are coming from--If it comes together tonight for you I COMPLETELY understand and wish you luck.
  10. Welcome to the forum. I had the same problem you are having when I moved my Yamaha RXV 800 from a smaller room to a larger room to power my Klf-20's. In the smaller room it sounded fine, but when I switched locations, at higher volumes it sounded bright. I switched to a Denon 3803 in that room and now it sounds fabulous! I don't know about the HK you mentioned but numerous people on this forum like the way HK's sound with Klipsch. I also have a Denon 3805 paired with my RB-75's/RC-7 combination and it sound great. I like the Denons because you can hook up a second set of surround speakers. IMHO if you upgrade your receiver you can accomplish the goal you are seeking.
  11. We better keep my wife out of it--She's a 3rd Degree Blackbelt with a short fuse. Does the Sunfire connect to the Denon with RCA type connections?
  12. Not really Art. You have been all I have been thinking about--It's making my wife nervous (in more ways than one)
  13. Thanks Russ, I was worried everyone was on the beer truck with Capone (or watching for him) on the other thread and I was somewhere in a dry county with no wheels
  14. I heard there was something interesting going on in that "4802R as a preamp paired with a...thread." Sorry for the hijack but I may have to make a decision tomorrow
  15. My Home Theater is listed at the bottom of this post. It sounds wonderful and I have no complaints. My last "upgrade" was exchanging some RB-75's with a pair of RS-7's to use as rear surrounds in a 7.1 (9.2 depending on how you look at it ;-) setup. It really didn't make that much of a difference. I am now considering using my Denon 4802R as a preamp and wondering if a multichannel amp would improve my sound dramatically. I plan on renting an amp to try first, but I was tempted (and still am) to buy a Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature 400 x5 without hearing it first because it was a good deal. I also contacted a Parasound dealer and got his opinion on their product. I read pretty much every thread in the last couple of years regarding different amplifiers on this site so I am not ruling out any companies, but I prefer to buy locally in the DFW area. My questions are these: 1) With the sunfire rated at 400 wpc, do I risk harming my speakers and would this be a tremendous improvement in sound quality (the loudest I play my 4802R is - 15 and it sounds great)? 2) Any advantage with the high current, heavier Amps that are rated at lower WPC than the sunfire? 3) If I decide to get a 5 channel amp to run my main 5 speakers, is there any problem (if I adjust the gain) with running my other 4 surrounds with the Denon 4802R? Any help would be appreciated.

Dragonfyr you must be totally disinterested in this topic because usually I find it entertaining when you are pushing peoples buttons.
  17. I agree this was a solid "B" movie. The cinematography didn't bother me. I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was because of the genre. The surround sound was superb and the hits made the RSW's thump. I bought it used also--a heck of a deal for $9.99. I don't buy new movies anymore. The wife and I watched "The Incredibles" last night--Definitely worth the $9.99 once again.
  18. My fondest memories of Mayday were 7 years ago. I was in Interlaken, Switzerland and had been there a week. It was cloudy and dreary almost everyday I had been there. I hiked and cross country skied which was fun, but no where near the views of the landscape that Switzerland is famous for. I had 2 days left befor I had to go. I woke up the morning of May 1st and the sun was shining and the sky was crystal clear blue. I remember the crispness of the air and the tremendous beauty of the mountains. The atmosphere was electric and the skiing was GREAT!On every May 1st, I remember that experience as if it were yesterday. The Jungfrau region of Switzerland, the most beautiful place on Earth IMHO. Thanks for reminding me its Mayday.
  19. I really like the guys at Tweeter in the DFW area. They are friendly and knowledgeable. They aren't doing well financially. They had another quarter in the red and are closing 11 stores. I understand they are going to more "in home service," but so is Bestbuy as well as alot of smaller outfits. Alot of competition to lay wire. I think they are missing the boat by not stocking some of the higher priced DVD players and separates. They are not stocking any 5805's in the DFW area and only one DVD3910--both special order items. It's easier to get that stuff on the Internet (although I wish to keep these guys in business) oops. sorry for hijacking the thread--Yeah what about those RC-7 specs?
  20. I use the RS-3 with mine and am happy. Of course the RS-7 would be slightly better. If it were me I would try and find another pair of KLF-20's Seriously, if a pair of KLF 30's go on sale in DFW I would snag them as my mains and move the 20's to surround duty.
  21. ---------------- On 4/30/2005 3:42:22 PM Brian_J wrote: Thx Bill. Another question: Are the SF-3 and the F-3 relatively the same or is there a drastic difference sound wise? Price wise the difference is ~350 clams for the pair. ---------------- I know you asked Bill, but I will chime in--I don't know from experience but looking at the spec sheet I wouldn't think there would be $350 difference. I owned the Synergy series from 6 years ago which my brother has now. I am still impressed with how they sound. The F-3 looks cosmetically nicer. When you start talking the price difference then you are looking at getting closer to the reference line and that is where my recommendation would lie at the $1200 to $1500 for your front 3 speakers. YMMV.
  22. BrianJ, I agree with bill. If you liked the way they sounded at Bestbuy, you will like them better in your home setup IMO. Later when you decide to upgrade you may even find moving your F-3's to surround duty (some of us here use towers as surrounds;-) and upgrade your front mains might be a good decision. Welcome to the forum

I bought these back in 2002 from Tweeter, which was, than, an authorized dealer. Maybe Klipsch did some additional testing over the past couple years and updated the specs to more closely reflect what the speaker can actually take... ... He told me I had a very nice setup, but I gotta do something about the Denon. ... He pretty much told me that other than considering a good pre/pro, I have a very impressive system and I should be set for a long time to come. ... Kinda puts me in a quandry as to who to get the pre/pro from. I've always had great service with the local Tweeter (plus I know I can get a decent discount on one), but at the same time, I really want to support the smaller, local business. ... ... hell, i got a pair of RF-5s acting as surround duty! ). ---------------- I know where you are coming from and I identified with a lot of what you said in your post. I too have friends at Tweeter and purchased my original HT Klipsch purchase from them. The last several times I stopped in there I kept trying to tell my friend that if they were going to remain a high end dealer they really need to be selling Separates (they used to sell b&k but are discontinuing). In fact, my last 5 to 10 conversations with him has been about buying 7 to 9 channels of amplification and how much of an upgrade it would be for me! He was real informative, but didn't have what I was looking for. I use (and am extremely happy with) Denon receivers and have a 4802 R in my main theater and use RF-3's as my "A" surrounds. I tried the RB-75 in that position and didn't like them as much. I REALLY like being able to use 2 sets of side surrounds. To get back on topic--Yes, it will be interesting to see why the discrepancy from authorized dealers on the RC-7. Thanks for the original post. I e-mailed Ms. Unger in customer service.

I wonder if a Klipsch rep could step in and explain the discrepancy I know what the spec sheet says.
