  1. Actually, no. Head's are usually near the top of the screen and angling down works well.
  2. Our center is above the TV and angled down towards the MLP.
  3. Me too. I'm mainly a multichannel guy and use a sub to get peaks in the 102 to 106 dB range for really slamming bass on a few songs.
  4. Ummm...Isn't 120 dB at your seat pretty outrageous and deafening? I can see the LF hitting hard and low with a sub, but a speaker doing that seems kinda OT, imo. By his math it seems more realistic levels could be attained with a solid 100 watt amp for most folks. That's my take.
  5. Yep. That's another thing. We had a similar thing happen with our Denon AVR-4806 and decided to replace it with the AVR-4311CI about 10 years ago and definitely don't want to replace it, although those Atmos units look cool, but pricey...If both it and the subs go out at the same time, I'm more than likely changing hobbies. 😐
  6. Hey Picky, welcome back! I didn't realize Klipsch had a new sub that could compete with the RSW 15. 🤔 That's good news and I have often/worried what I was going to do when either of my RSW subs bite the dust...It won't be good cuz we sure do like having that lower end covered, espessialy for multichannel music and concerts.
  7. It could be. Check your service manual where it tells you how to connect your speakers and see if it says if you can connect 4ohm speakers ( on Denon models it's where that info is).
  8. Wait! Not sure if this was directed at me but my comment above was only about differences between SS amps compared to Tubes. I totally think speakers are the most important and one should work backwards from there.
  9. Sure. I understand Tube aficionado don't usually like SS amps. Well...Given how much this has been debated, all I can say is if they provide enough current to drive the speakers efficiently at the volume you want, its going to be the processor that will make the most difference. YMMV. 😊
  10. no , it does not I have no idea what the Frequency Response Curve is of the Epic CF-3, but with RF-7s the problem is providing enough current to handle a jagged curve on a couple of frequencies that dip below 4 Ohms.
  11. I didn't see the question but if you have a 100 watt amp and it's not distorting at the volume you want then adding another 100 watts isn't going to do anything. The speaker is only going to use the power it needs and adding more wouldn't be used. That's my take.
  12. I also would move the speakers at least 8" or so from the front wall. And as much as you don't want to hear this, a little carpet in front of the speakers will help on brightness issues. I agree with wuzzzer on experimenting with the sub but corner placement should give you more bang for your buck. {Note: I just saw you are in Germany. I love visiting there and lived in Bad Godesberg, outside of Bonn for 4 years. 😊}
  13. Definitely do this and if you bought them used make sure the jumpers between terminals are connected and run one set of wires to each speaker.
  14. No. I screwed up and confused "former" with latter as I was typing. I apologize and hope the follow-up post explained what I actually was trying to say....Multi-tasking while at work is to blame. 😮
  15. It has been my recent experience that the interaction between Color me embarrassed! I meant the opposite of what I wrote. Tubes (latter) can color the sound and equivalent SS amps (former) should sound the same. My bad and I will go back and correct it. 😑 {Note: My follow up post better explained the point without the error. 😁}
  16. First off, I've never owned a tube amp but have always heard/read they can color the sound(i.e. make it warmer, for the most part) but have enough current to drive speakers to cover impedance dips. If you have a smaller room or don't listen incredibly loud it only takes a few watts. Otoh, most SS amps sound essentially the same to each other as long as you have enough current to address possible wide swings in speaker impedance, espessialy when it goes under 4 Ohms at loud volume or in a large room... If you start hearing distortion then the chances are in either situation you don't have enough current to drive the speakers at that volume. That is my understanding.
  17. When I saw the original question I thought differentiating between SS & Tubes would be important for the 2-channel aficionado. I understand the latter could affect the sound, but the former would be at the bottom of the list as long as it had enough power to drive the speakers efficiently at the level you wanted.
  18. Neither have I. Otoh, we converted our den to a library, and then into a Home Theater, which has bookcases and shelves pretty much all over it and found they work great as "room treatment--Win/Win and the wife likes it as well to get that bonus Win. 😁

    Ha! Don't get dieting advice from a Speaker Forum. 😁
  20. What do you think about room treatment in a dedicated HT or music room?

    Fwiw, I still eat meat and dairy products but a vegetarian friend whom I respect clued me into the suffering of animals in the food chain and it gave me a different view of what and how we consume nutrients

    Every time I see this guys name it reminds me of discussions we had here on the open forum and ironically we couldn't discuss given the misinformation being given at the time. I've enjoyed the latest discussions on this thread so I went back to the first page to see how it started... Ha! I also have a personal true story: lightening struck a tree close to our house and we lost our DirectTv, AVR, and our rear Klipsch RSW-15 sub. It happened the evening of the 2004 Election and I hadta think it was a message from God that I spent too much time following current events on TV--we haven't gotten cable or renewed since. Lol! {Note: It also could've been a sign that I was spending too much time on the Klipsch Forum given how they handled repairing my RSW amp, but Amy smoothed that over.} If he would only not exhale, but then we would have never gotten the Internet. Okay. Now THIS was funny, but...
