  1. So returned the sub to BBY and got a new one. The differences is amazing. Must have indeed been defective. The YPAO process set the subwoofer within more reasonable limits. huzzah.
  2. Yea I was afraid of such .... Thanks for all the help and being patient in my ignorance Good news is I can just return to BBY as a defective product I suppose lol.
  3. Sorry should have also mentioned it started actually reflecting the volume knob on the device, but still stops working.
  4. Ok so here is an update. When I plugged in my computer directly using an RCA-Y cable like before it was SUPER loud, and seemed to ignore the volume input on the back of the sub itself. It would not turn down. So I stopped that and plugged my MP3 player in the same way... it also started super loud, but now does not seem to be returning anything from the sub. The volume was all the way down when first plugged in, as was the crossover. Now when i try to play from my mp3 no matter how high i turn the volume.... nothing. Stopped the mp3 player, unplugged, replugged in cables... slight feedback... started music again... sub worked for 3 seconds then stopped.
  5. I'll go back and try those steps again just to be sure. You never know with electronics and a Novice . A side question, I am just using a normal digital Coax for my LFE. Is the Subwoofer cable with grounding wire really necessary? Could that be part of the issue as well?
  6. I increased the output to the sub from the receiver to +5db to no effect.
  7. So playing with it some more when the sub stops firing when I unplug the cable at the Receiver and plug back in nothing happens. When I unplug from the Sub itself there is feedback then it starts working again, but only for a little bit.
  8. Ok, so I manually set the crossover to 120hz on the receiver. I was gone all weekend and when I came back there was more oddity... The subwoofer wasnt firing and removing and reinserting the LFE cable didn't work. I then plugged into the PC as I had done previously and the Sub still did not fire.... then started mysteriously working. Both from the PC and the LFE... I'll just have to keep an eye on it. :/
  9. I set the volume to half, the crossover to bypass, and ran the receiver setup again. It now sounds MUCH better. Very happy that it wasn't my sub Crossover seems a bit high on the receiver though... 200hz. Thanks for all your help!
  10. Hmmm or maybe not use the LFE and instead switch to speaker inputs....
  11. WOW, so found my headphone to RCA splitter, plugged in my desktop 2channel output into the input... the thing nearly blew me away... i had to have it way turned up for my Receiver..... I'm guessing this means my receiver is the issue lol
  12. Yes, I was originally using a flimsy RCA that wasn't really shielded. When that was having issues I went and bought a properly shielded RCA cable to use. Having the same problem, although the quality is better.
  13. Hey all I apologize in advance for my ignorance... I am rather new to higher end gear. That being said I recently switched from using Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 system to using a Yamaha RX-V373 Receiver with a Klipsch SW-350 Powered Sub for my computer speakers. I am still using the Satellites from the ProMedia setup. The Sub is brand new, but doesn't always seem to fire when music is playing. At first I thought it was because it was on Auto. I had seen several forum posts about that, but I switched it to being on all the time and still have the problem. When it was on Auto it would turn on but wouldn't fire. When I had it powered on it would fire, but super quiet. I have to unplug the cable and plug back in while music is playing then the sub plays beautifully. Any ideas? The Receiver is connected to my computer via Optical Out and the sub is connected to the receiver using a digital coax from the dedicated sub port to the LFE port on sub. Thanks!
