  1. nice drawing and thought out placement. my one suggestion is this, once you figure out the angle of your surround speakers, play with the height of them. the side and rear speakers don't need to be the same height either. in my old set up, my side speakers were a foot (or so) taller than my rears. have your favorite HT tuning DVD ready, have a buddy sit in the sweet spot and move the speakers in 6" increments. for me moving my rear speakers to 36" was the equivalent to turning them off (perfect was at 42"). i made super cheap speaker stands out of 2x4's and once we had all 4 at the right height, i mounted them to the wall. wide dispersion vs direct: i found out the distance from listener was the key. for side surrounds the Wide won every time. the rear speakers have a lot to do with distance. if you are 4' or LESS (sweet spot measured to speaker) then the Wide will sound better. 4' or GREATER the direct fire is best. i spent quite a while using RS42, RS52, and RB61's to figure that out. being close to direct firing speakers (for surrounds), you lose the "sound" effect. it basically fires the sound over your head and you hear it like it's in front of you, instead of being behind. that's my 2 cents...
  2. so, just to add closure.... when the time came for me to actually say yes or no about selling my 7's, i almost threw up. i was literally shaking and really felt i was going to vomit. i told him no, and honestly i wouldn't sell them even at full MSRP value. i would gladly help him find his own and even mod them, but i wasn't letting go of my 7's for anything.
  3. thanks! that helps out! he's made the decision to get a projector and screen. he laughed at me when i suggested a home made screen....basically he said with a 100K HT, why cheap out on the screen....lol. so what he is going to do is go with a fixed screen, keep the RF7II's and RC64II out in the open along with the subs below the stage. he just changed the ET center (again) and doesn't want to get another huge bill (at least not right now). my suggestion was to have the screen acoustic transparent and have the 64 and both subs behind it with the 7's out. i haven't heard back from him if the projector can be mounted outside the room (like a movie theater) or if we have to hang it. i know depending on location it will change the projector up (i think). i believe i would have to go to a "short throw" if we hang it. i don't have all the numbers so right now i'm just guessing. since i'm a wire rat, what's making me pull my hair out is he has a separate room for the gear, which is cool, but it's not located in the front or back. it's off to the side. what i don't like about that, it increases all the wire lengths, which can cause a headache! ok, i'm whining a bit there, it's really not a big deal, it has more to do with my personal OCD's. does anyone have a suggestion on a fixed screen and a 1080P projector? i found one for $1700 that seems bad a** (link above). oh, this is a basement (granted it's a 2600sqft basement) so no issues with windows or lights.
  4. no. Jason said they will look similar to Klipsch THX subs and the port will be on the bottom.
  5. UPDATE: JoeDirt orrb_05 The Dude JoeDirt has a niece that will be driving down to OU in about 3 weeks. this will be the best option for Brian. however, there has been a wrinkle in his Living Room plans. his wife is ordering granite, paint, cabinets, etc to finish out that basement and outdoor kitchen. although he wants the RB-75's really bad, it's lower on the list. if orrb_05 doesn't sell the speakers in the next few weeks, Brian may be able to get them. he needs to wait for the final bill to see if he has enough for the speakers. thanks to all who have helped so much!
  6. so, on that web site...Panasonic PT-AE8000 is the 2015 editors choice. would that be a safe bet? right now i don't understand the specs... Lumens: is brighter better (always) Contrast: bigger is better (always) technology: 0.7"?
  7. ok, if you let me be lazy....which projector is the one most chosen? i picked that Sony solely based on it was the #1 reviewed one, or at least was #1 out of 10. so why would 4K be bad? like i said, zero experience with projectors. i thought if you projected a 1080P image on a 125" - 150" screen, then it won't be as clear. kind of like a TV, a 60" at 1080P looks ok, at 4K it's amazing. a 70" at 1080p is garbage, but at 4K, it's a real nice picture. i take it projectors don't have that same issue? i guess the good think about buying 1080P now, and 4K later, those are easy to swap out, and it was said, the drop in price.
  8. AcousticPro UHD (not sure on price) Sony VPLVW350ES $7998.00 this is what i found so far. this dude doesn't mess around. he wants typically the best or at least the best idea. that projector is the top rated one. it's actually much cheaper too. go figure, the best being affordable? looking up the UHD screen, amazon has it for $600. that plus the projector is much cheaper than $11K. it's a 125" screen, not sure the size possible. who know about this stuff? like who's world does this revolve around? i don't want to suggest something that is just silly.
  9. well, he want's 2 side surrounds and is willing to buy the amp and cables to do it. he figured to go ahead and try it and see if it works. if not, we just ditch the extra set and have an extra amp. really not a big deal. Elite screens? are they acoustic transparent? checking with google now....
  10. nice video. him and i were talking about this just yesterday. he already has the RF7II, RC64II and the new ET center is already being built. he was thinking of ditching the idea of a 90" tv (yeah, it's already picked out with a $11K price tag) and going with a projector. i just sent him an email with this video, a few comments, and a suggestion of maybe just having the RC64II behind the screen. we could possibly put the subs i'm having Jason STR make. we ordered those a few days ago. 15", external amp bad mammer jammers! he is having a large lower section built (think of a normal stage shape) where the subs will go under neath and be hidden by speaker grill material. here is a drawing he doodled. his gear will be located in a different room so basically where the subs are, it's just open. maybe after we get everything in the room he will add shelves or something. if Brian actually wants a projector and screen i'm going to have to get back on here and ask for suggestions. projector screens is something i just never got into. i liked them and thought they were cool, but cost wise, just not in the cards for me. the last time i looked it up, it was $10K for a quality projector and a very good screen. i'm not even talking about a diamond screen, just a normal good one. i have no idea how much acoustic transparent screens are. do projectors have the ability to cast a 4K image? i can see i'm going to have to hit Google up and find out....
  11. oh, you have no idea! when he sent me pics of the HT room ET center, i told him he F****D up! he ripped it all out! yeah, paid, who know's what for it the first time, and now he's building a better HT design (with my overall suggestions). the Living room HT is all the Wife's input. the center goes in that tiny slit below the tv, the speakers (which were supposed to be FLOOR speakers, went in the far right and left tiny areas. this is why i had him change speakers and look for specific book shelf speakers.
  12. im west of Oklahoma City. i'm about 1.5 hours from Tulsa. there is no way i'm driving that distance! and my buddy is way too busy! the guy who has the speakers just messaged me (on here) and said he will ship! maybe he was just waiting for a fellow forum member to contact him.
  13. oh, well then maybe i'm off my rocker. i thought the RP-140SA was the "real" ATMOS speakers. i thought going with ceiling speakers was a "step down".
  14. man, they are rough. i didn't even notice how bad the grill was. like you guys said, they are going in a (stupid) cubby hole, so the grill will be off and i believe the cubby hole will be covered with grill material.
  15. lmao, i have already texted him. i also found some RB35's. i texted him too. he responded, but when i said shipping, i haven't heard back....
  16. think he's was more or less talking about if a forum member picked them up. if they were close enough to me i would have no issue taking them apart and shipping everything separate. although i say drop them with fedex or ups, let them package them and insure them for the full amount, then if they get destroyed least you would not be out any money. ^^^^^ what he said. yeah, if a true klipsch fan had these and shipped them, they would know about the horns snapping, parts cracking, and general issues. they would ensure it was well packed. i just found out with in the last 15min my buddy received a RC64II shipped in, and there is a smashed corner. not sure how that happens in the original box, but how knows what the shipping people actually do with packages. i don't think the damage is bad enough, but it sure isn't what i would want to have happen.
  17. new thread has been created! thanks Scrappydue!
  18. Fellow Klipsch fans in the Omaha area, my buddy is trying to buy a pair of RB-75's to complete his Living Room Home Theater. so far, there is only 1 set being sold. this guy: LINK or LINK he won't budge about shipping. my buddy has asked, and asked, and asked. he has also told him he would compensate him for shipping and time, and still no. i'm looking for someone that lives near this guy and is willing to make this transaction and then resell/ship to my buddy. if you are, i'll PM you my buddy's info and let you two hash out what your time and energy is worth to do this. thanks to all who are willing to help! seller Pm'd me and decided to keep his beloved RB75's!
  19. ok. if you turn up zero results, i'll make the post. THANKS!
  20. here's the thing...you are investing in speakers that should last a life time. don't go cheap on the gear. the receiver is so critical to your HT dreams. it's been said, ditch the idea about ceiling speakers for ATMOS. get the real ATMOS speakers and use those 2 ceiling speakers for some Zone 2 stuff. (or depending on timing, i may buy them off of you). for HT....i'm talking movie watching only....not some closet 2 channel guy....this advice is just for the person who only wants to watch, hear, and feel the movie.... you have 2 routes..... 1. get a really good AVR. Onkyo seems to be the top of most lists for just HT viewing. their price point is typically a touch lower, but have as many or more features. you also can't go wrong with Pioneer Elites and some of the other high end receivers. so basic advice, stick to an AVR that is their Flag ship. then, you also want to buy an Amp. really, any name brand amp will do. used is a great way to save some cash, as long as it has the required watts. EVERYBODY on this forum knows Klipsch are very efficient, so don't get crazy with the amp and get your head all twisted and think you need 400w per channel. most of the good AVR's right now have ATMOS and 2 sub outputs, so you don't have to wait for that technology to drop. what you need to check for is if they have the new HDMI requirement (HDMI 2.0 - with full HDCP 2.2 support). 2. Separates. Emotiva. you will want an XMC-1 with either the XPA Gen 3 or A700 + another amp. that's the silly part about ATMOS. you will only find 7ch amps (right now) so you need at least 2 of them. also, the XMC is not ATMOS or HDMI ready (yet). it will be a few months before the first one is released. the top of the line with ATMOS and DTX will be $3K, add in $1900 for 7ch XPA, and $400 for 2 ch amp....that could put a very serious dent in your HT budget. it's the most expensive route, but you will have the best set up you can get. i'm not just suggesting Emotiva, even though i love their gear, other companies like Outlaw (to name 1) have or will have something similar. if you want most bang for your buck...find an older Flagship AVR that has ATMOS, 7.2.4, and purchase the A500 ($500), have the AVR power the 4 of the surrounds, the A500 power your LCR and ATMOS speakers. you should be able to find a really good AVR for around $500. that's a $1k investment, the amp will never "go bad". you can use it in the future for "upgrades" (you know you will do it), and the AVR can live out it's life in a second Zone room.
  21. mattSER, looking at your sig....so you are on the hunt too for RB75's?
  22. so the pics didn't spark any new suggestions.... i'm thinking the safest bet is the CDT-5650-C II you can direct them and they don't seem to be that expensive...
  23. so....u r saying you have them in black....any chance you want to part with them?
