  1. here are the 4 pics he gave me of the Living room ceiling.
  2. no, he's not into ATMOS at all. it was something we had to hash out when we were discussing amps. right now the living room will be a 3.1. he's going to put the ceiling speakers in later on. wall speakers would be cool, but in this living room design, they won't work. he said it would also be very difficult to get the wires down the wall. something about headers, top caps, and beams. i was thinking of going with the 6.5" version of the 5800 series.
  3. i'm not from Oklahoma, i just ended up here though God's path. Willand, will the RB5's match the 64? he has these weird speaker cubbys, so, how much space do they need from the wall? i really don't think they have enough room, but i haven't seen this ET center yet. he is searching for 75's now and that 1 guy who owns a pair, won't ship. i even put a post out there to ask a forum member to buy them and my guy will pay you to ship them. no takers yet.
  4. well...u see.....i was asked to help AFTER the room was mostly built! as it is, i had him tear out a huge ET center so he could put the RF7's on the floor and not 3' up in the air! he said he already ran the speaker wire to the surround locations. i have no doubt i will have to re do it. i am playing catch up at this point. i'm just trying to figure out which ceiling surrounds are the best to use or the best to match with reference speakers. i'm also trying to figure out if building a specific size framed hole works best for ceiling speakers. does the braces actually influence the sound.
  5. Scrappy, that's the same ad i was given earlier. we have already spoken with the guy and he will not ship them! Fish, i saw those, but i'm being told the RB-75's will pair with the RC64II the best. will the RB-81II's do just as well? will there be any issues pairing those with the RC64II? i've never heard either one, closest i've come is RB-61's! if some knows for a fact the 81's will work every bit just as good as the 75's, please let me know! THANKS!
  6. well, the seller of the RB75's does clearly state he won't ship. i had my guy ask anyway and he stuck to his guns... is there anyone local that wants to buy these and then resell them? my buddy has already said he would compensate anyone who would. if someone is serious, i'll give you his contact info and let you guys talk it out.
  7. thanks for the link! am i being cheap, or are those a little over priced? $850? don't confuse that with, i'm sure we will attempt to buy them, but i really thought they would be around the $600 range. they are not even the "2" series and add in the fact, no boxes.... his ad says local pick up, so, we'll contact him and see how it goes. thanks again!
  8. well, having excessive cash isn't an issue...for a change. you got a link? i can't find them!
  9. hey there, anyone have a pair just sitting around collecting dust? would like to have a pair of RB-75's or RB-81's series 2. the reason for those 2 choices is because there is a massive ET center and only a book shelf speaker will do. it was also built not deep enough, so they will have to be front ported. the center channel is a RC64ii, that's why i need the book shelf's to be a series 2. the ET center takes up the entire wall, so a Floor standing speaker won't work. oh, Wife doesn't want a lot of speakers "showing". WAF, can't over come that....
  10. so the only real option for this ET center (that i can think of) is front ported book shelf speakers. he also got ahead of himself and bought an extra RC64ii. so....if we can find some RB75's, those will pair nicely with that RC64ii. the surrounds will be ceiling mounted (i have a post for that) to me, it looks like he planned on a sub to be in those cubby cabinets at the bottom. depending on the available space in the room, we may pull them out and put them in the back or something like that. i'm also including his sketch of both the HT room and Living Room. they are right next to each other. i'm pretty sure only 1 will be used at a time. maybe in the back right corner the sub will work. if u put a sub or subs right behind the couch, does that work?
  11. Jason, i sent a PM. also, for the Living Room HT, a suggestion on a product may be best. i'll have to upload a pic of the ET center, it's basically the entire wall with 4 cubby holes underneath. i told him i "think" putting a smaller sub in there "may" work, but i wasn't for sure. again, he built all this up and then decided to go get speakers. once i upload the pic, the very slender hole on the far outsides, is where he thought the towers would go....
  12. looks great! so reading through this, you ultimate goal was to have a decent sound system in a shop? i guess movie watching will happen from time to time but other than that it's just for music? when i was reading this i immediately thought of the HD wireless system....if it was just music, having 5 of the RP-440WC would just look sick! for me, i want speakers on my patio and i've been toying the idea with different set ups, but really, i think some good Blutooth speakers streaming from my phone (i heart radio) will be the best choice. no extra receiver, no wires to run, no extra processor (or running an input to my UMC). i really like the ideal of having any where from 2-5 of the UE-Megaboom speakers linked to my phone. since it's at my house, and my phone is on the Wifi, it's free data, so i don't have to worry about that. i know in your case that wouldn't help at all because you can't watch any movies that way...lol those speakers also link together so all 5 will pay in "ALL Stereo" mode. anyways, that shop looks great, i don't know how you are going to get any work done!
  13. so, i'm helping someone build/design/install a "Living Room" HT. i'm supposed to "know it all" and sadly, that is far from the truth. so here is what we got... it's a huge Living Room, something like 20x30. it's a partial open design and has one of those huge U shaped couches. there is a massive ET center, like the entire front wall that will hold (hopefully) RB75's, and RC64ii. the sides and rears seem to be an issue with proper placement and that's why the decision to ceiling mount was brought up. oh, also, the physical design of the ceiling and walls will be a HUGE pain to run the wires through. he told me there are massive joist and top caps he will have to drill through. back on topic... Front 3 speakers are: RF7ii RC64ii would CDT-5650-C II be the logical match? i would think a 6.5" speaker would be "fine". the 5800 being an 8" might be too much, but with such a large open living room, it could be beneficial. so part of the silly question is, since the LCR is "Reference" is it best to match the ceilings with the same? could using the THX PRO-7502-S-THX work even better? it appears the 5650/5800 can be directional and you can actually point or angle the sound where as the THX, you can't. as far as install goes, does the ceiling actually influence the sound? i mean if the rear ones are installed and 1 speaker is in a smaller boxed in area, will it sound different that the other rear one that just happened to be in a much larger area? if that's true, wouldn't it be wise to build an equal or symmetrical boxed in area? would anyone know if there is a sweet spot for that size? i'm assuming the floor joists are 16" on center, so a 16"x24" box? thanks for any help, ceiling mounts are something i just don't do...
  14. You might try calling "If interested please email me at adamhart84@gmail.com or call/text me at 843-469-5748. " you know, i have to admit...i don't think i even made it all the way down the ad...lol. no harm though, he did respond, rather quick.
  15. "SVS is the Bose of subwoofers. Nothing magical about their products" if that doesn't sum it up! i never knew that. i was under the impression they were very good (i guess like a lot of other people who buy Bose). well, if you could build something, that might be a route we take. it might be for the living room HT, though. so are there any suggestions for a sub to purchase? i have little to know experience with subs, i typically refer to them as "Magic and Science" because i just don't understand them. i have a Sunfire sub, i love it, i'm sure it's not the best sub out there...but for going down to 16hz, it sure does work well. the guy is gutting out the HT room ET center. i'm not 100% sure what he's doing but he told me there will be enough room on each side for the RF7ii, and a sub (if needed). i believe he is going to want 2 subs. cost, isn't a factor, i mean that too. he is buying everything he needs for TWO home theaters at the SAME time! he just sent me the invoice for the RF7ii, RC64ii, and RS62ii. he's already purchased several other speakers. in about 2 months (need to wait for the release date) he is buying: XMC-1 (with upgraded HDMI board), XPA Gen3 (7 ch), A500, and A700. Jason, if you have a great suggestion on a great sub, let me know. oh, he's kind of like me when it comes to subs, he likes to feel the punch in his chest....hopefully i can tune 2 subs in and get those results!
  16. lol. i just mean if a sub that style will work "boxed" in an ET center.
  17. ok...so using RS62ii as rears.... spoke to some pro's, the proper way to do it is.... have each side surround separately amped. so in this case, the XMC will have a XPA amp for the front 3, and rear 2. then a A500 (5 channel amp) to power just the 4 surrounds. i'll run a Blue Jeans Y cables from the XMC side surround input to each of the amp channels. then of course, each amp channel will have it's own speaker wire. this way there won't be any issues with resistance. having phase or eq problems, that's a different story. it's only a 14x20 HT room so the "need" for 4 side surrounds is really not there. i think this is more of a "want" or a "could we" situation. the way he built this massive ET center, no joy for a front RF7 center speaker. maybe if i was there from the beginning we could have toyed with having a vertical RF7.
  18. to all the Super-Duper Crazy intelligent Sub MASTERS.... so, there is a custom made gigantic ET center. it has 4 cubby holds (don't know the exact size yet) with the idea to put at least 2 subs in them. if the subs we choose only has 1 forward firing woofer with the ports on the same side (live the SVS big mammer jammer) would that work in a cubby hole? i have a duel firing and it's suppose to be in a corner (it's not, but oh well). i would assume if the sub had 2 firing woofers and we put it in a cubby hole, it would create all kinds of issues. just so it's out there, this ET center is NOT my design, not the way i would have went. i was asked after the fact and i'm trying to make it all work as it sits. so far, the guy has to re do the sides because he didn't know you couldn't put a Tower speaker (specifically RF7) in a 18"x18"x60" hole, 3' off the floor. so if the Sub Gaud's could shine a little light on me, it will greatly help me pick the right sub (s).
  19. hey dude's and dudetts, i'm helping someone build an amazing HT room and so far, cost doesn't seem to be an issue.... we met because he purchased my RS42's (modified) and we have been chatting ever since. if you can believe it, he's building TWO home theater rooms! 1 is a dedicated HT room, the other is a living room HT. this is all in his 2500sqft+ basement, and not in the actual 3900sqft+ house! anyways...so he's getting RF7ii, RC64ii, and we are kicking around the idea of putting the 4 RS42 speakers for the surrounds, 1 at each row of seats. i know we can splice the input wire and mount the speakers and i know sound will emit from them, but has anyone tried this and did it sound good? or is this just a really dumb idea and we just use 2 speakers and mount them between the row of seats? the thought is to have it more like a theater room like the movies. oh, in case the info is needed.... the other items in the main HT: XMC-1 (with HDMI board upgrade) XPA Gen3 (7 channel) Oppo 103D darbee edition Furman 20PFi (he has 4 dedicated 20 amp power lines as well) no decision on sub. he's building a sound stage and it almost looks like the space for the sub is too small, but i haven't physically been in the room. he's also in the middle of building it, well all of it. along with a Pinball room! i asked to move in! lmao! he also wants all custom power cables and interconnects. we will do that after all gear is in and working. i'll also be programing his remote and room automation. i'm hoping this is a super clean well done job. i've never been a big fan of 7 amps and a bunch of other gear, not that i would ever tell anyone it sucks or they were "dumb", just not my thing. i like less wires and cables (i know OCD weird issues). oh yeah, both sets of speakers will be fully upgraded! so, if someone has done this and knows the pit falls, please let me know. i'm open to any equipment suggestions.
  20. did you want to sell the Furman 20pfi?
  21. is this still for sale? need to know ASAP. pulling the trigger super duper soon!
