  1. Well I havn't posted here in a LONG time, but I figured the announcement of the 5.1 pros was a good reason to come back. I still love my pros even though their use was cut back dramatically due to the arrival of my home theater (I won't say which brand name I bought since there seems to be some hatred for Paradigm going around lately, oops ". But even though I don't use them for watching movies or listening to music anymore, my v2-400s still rock my world when I'm playing UT, Quake 3, Counter-Strike or any other games with great sound, especially ones with good EAX. I've held out through the storm that came with the 2.1s (people talking about buying two sets) and the 4.1s because I told myself it's not that much better than what you already have. But I've finally given in, I'm going to buy the 5.1s and finally, after nearly 3 years of use (longer than any other computer part I've ever had) my good old V2-400s are going the way of so many video cards, sound cards, cpus, RAM chips, hard drives and any other computer component you can think of. So in a way it'll be a sad day when I put my V2-400s aside, but in another way it'll be a happy day for me as Klipsch will once again show me what computer audio is all about. It's good to be a Klipsch Promedia-aholic again!
  2. I haven't tried it but I know the PS2 has an extra A/V out plug on it. I pretty sure you could get the pros working using that, although you would only have 2 channel sound. If you find a way to get all 4 channels working somehow than let me know, I'd like to hear how you did it.
  3. Nice job ogakira, I set it as my current screensaver. I might as well advertise the great speakers I'm using on my computer even though they're not getting nearly as much attention ever since I got my Paradigms. I still enjoy a good game of Counter Strike or Unreal Tournament with them though, just not much DVD or music anymore.
  4. I heard that the GF3 will only be available for macintosh in march and there's no set release date for the PC version as of yet. Shouldn't be too long though.
  5. Getting back to the TV-Out thing. I connected my Hercules Prophet GTS to my SHINY NEW 50" HDTV (I don't mean to brag but goddamn I love that thing) via S-Video cable just for the hell of it and was shocked at how good the picture was. It didn't look quite as clear as with my regular DVD player but it still looked damn nice. I don't know how it would compare to an H+ card since I've never tried one but if you have a TV with an S-Video connection than I doubt you would be dissapointed with a Geforce2.
  6. Check out: Techno Bass Crew - Galaxy of Bass Prodigy - Under the Influence (first 20-30 secs)
  7. You don't have to worry about blowing them. The pros are THX certified, and part of that is included limiters that prevent you from damaging them. If they do happen to blow out then you probably have a defective set and should send them back for a replacement. So crank em as loud as you like! ENJOY!!
  8. I don't think that the 8200s will give you much better midrange than the pros. The problem with the midrange is mostly due to having such a small driver in the speakers. It's evident it almost all computer speakers in the promedia's pricerange. Even expensive speakers like the Sirroco Crossfires and the Digitheater have it to a certain extent. Listen to a more expensive home theater with a 4"+ driver, then go back and listen to any set of computer speakers and you'll see what I mean. The BA 4800s have pretty nice midrange, but that's only if you're willing to sacrifice quality high and low range sound. They don't have a tweeter and the sub blows in comparison to Klipsch. All in all though it's just what sounds best to you. Go listen to some speakers at best buy, or better yet, a friends house and make a choice for yourself. That's the only way you can really get what you want.
  9. They're both pretty damn close. PowerDVD seems to be louder and has a little bit less noise at high volumes. I can't tell a difference in picture quality, so if there is it's minimal at best. I use PowerDVD mainly because it has more features. I want a software player that decodes DTS damnit!!!
