  1. Kinda wish one would offer to pay a bit more, yet he did say that was what he paid for them.
  2. I am probably wrong. The motor board looks closer to 1 inch Ply as looking through the ports. The sides have black painted veneer and sound like ply when thumped on,LOL.
  3. They would look fabulous though in a bamboo hut somewhere in the Pacific.
  4. My Chorus I speakers are 3/4 inch plywood,about 90 lbs apiece I estimate,loaded.1989 build.
  5. Glad they are too far away from me to angst over.Somebody here must buy them now.someone at least offer 5 bills for them.
  6. I've owned (2) Scott 208 amps over the years.Tube compliment is (2) 6U8 and (4) 7591 I believe.Going from memory.The power transformers run a little warm.Nice little amps.
  7. "And I kicked that mule to the top of the tree" Swordfishtrombones.
  8. Uh, sorry.62 degrees and sunny here in central Fl. We will pay for it with 97 degree days and 100% humidity coming soon.
  9. Heh heh, j/K. Famous Herb Alpert album cover that got the attention of every boy or man at the time.
  10. Throw in an album cover of Whipped cream and other delights?
  11. Having spent the majority of my recent time of owning lascala's with some home brew Tube lab Simple SE amps,I unhesitatingly recommend these amps with the lascala. I built one of my Simple SE amps with the very inexpensive Hammond 125ESE output transformers, these amps rock (including bass) with the Lascala.Using 6l6GC russian tubes, about 380volt b+ and solid state rectification with cap input filter and a large choke.Very quiet, but not dead silent. Some hum when your head is in the bass bin, some tube hiss.Very liveable.I am running one of the amps in triode mode (125ESE) and one of them in ultralinear (big edcors) I think I narrowly prefer the Hammond 125 ESE cheapie transformers in triode mode. It produces maybe 5 watts in triode, and the one with the Edcor transformers may be making about 10-12 watts in ultralinear. Great sounding circuit from George at Tubelab. No affiliation of any kind, just a satisfied customer.
  12. Interestingly enough, when I put together the Aikido preamp with my Chorus speakers, Low bass had quite a bit more impact.Points well taken though. Will listen as is for now.
  13. Never know which tubes may sound good with a particular circuit.I have some 1990's New sensor 2A3 Chinese dual plate tubes (sold in groups of 10) that sound pretty decent. (Shuguang,at the time not highly sought after) None have broken yet.
  14. Mcintosh resale is crazy. So are HK Citations tube stuff, obviously also the Marantz. If buying to use as a daily driver, HH Scott, Fisher, Eico ,Thousands of them were made.Unfortunately, getting harder to luck into this stuff.I recently rebuilt a Dynaco ST-70 that my wife bought me 25 yrs ago for 5 bucks. It sat on the shelf 25 years in disrepair until this year.Point is well meaning intentions are never realized and people like me will almost give something away if someone else can find some constructive use for an item.
  15. For that money, the asking price won't even pay for the output transformers if they are decent.Maybe some old stock transformers?Find the source of the transformers, get a schematic if you can, then buy it. Is it my imagination, or are the getters on those output tubes turning white? On second thought, I expect this is a Chinese amp.Even so, you can always upgrade parts if needed, and its a good price to get into tubes.
  16. I sometimes wonder why my Denon 90 watt surround receiver does not sound as dynamic as my 2a3 3 watt single ended amp at sane listening levels. Of course the 2A3 amp has a huge power transformer with lots of capacitance and a large filter choke.Guess thats why.
  17. What they sound like in my living room.Smooth, Dynamic, musical.Currently using a 6CG7 Aikido preamp with a Tubelab Simple SE with the big Edcor single ended output transformers and 6L6GC Sovtek tubes.Code "P" with "AA" networks and rectangular badges.LS BR.1976 I assume. No water damage, slight chip in one side, candle wax drippings on the top, Heh heh. These are staying put in the living room for awhile. as in as long as I breathe!

  20. So what is their value approximately? Is this fair for a price?
  21. Are the duplex Altec 645 DTS speakers anything useful for home use?Looks like no passive filters and very high efficiency.Sparse info out on the web.
