  1. Near-new pair of RB-81's for sale. Totally pristine, with boxes and all. Would prefer local pickup in sunny Orange County, California, but can ship. Paid $598, will let these babies go for $475. seddy@socal.rr.com I can provide pix of the real things if you desire.
  2. I almost invariably opt for Hilary Hahn and the Brahms Violin Concerto (Sony Classical). The massed strings have sound smooth, and sound like a bunch of separate instruments being playing together, not just a "single" sound (if that makes sense). Her violin has to be dead smack in the middle and up high -- that's the soundstage I want. And her violin must sound real -- the sound can be "shiny," but not strident. Finally, there is a place in the first movement where the bass viols come in for the first time. This is when I know that the speakers are letting me "feel" the bass.
  3. time to rent or buy "jazz on a summer's day." newport '58. she steals the show, bless her.
  4. It is a sweet little player. Love that clean, simple NAD look. And note that HDCD isn't a totally dead format yet .... discs can be had out there. Don't know, for instance, if you're interested in the Beach Boys, but all the "new" reissue stuff is in HDCD.
  5. Hey, first-time Klipsch purchaser here. Got the RB-81's at a local home-theater emporium, and I have to say that I am amazingly impressed. Was expecting some harshness or screech in the highs, but these guys seem so incredibly smooth throughout the whole spectrum. And, man, they play loud, the biggest issue is taming them for low-level listening in small living room. Using with the Outlaw RR 2150, lucky that I am to have it. And NAD 542 CD player along with NAD 33 table. 2 channel all the way.
