  1. Ex-President Bush, decides to leave the Ranch and go out to sit in a local bar. A guy walks in and asks the barman, 'Isn't that Bush sitting at the end of the bar?'

The bartender says, 'Yep, that's him.' So the guy walks over and says, 'Wow, this is a real honor! What are you doing in here?'

Bush says, ' I'm planning WW III.'

The guy says, 'Really? What's going to happen?'

Bush says, 'Well, I'm going to kill 140 million Muslims and one blonde with big Boobs.

The guy exclaimed, 'A blonde with big boobs? Why kill a blonde with big boobs?'

Bush turns to the bartender and says,
'See, I told you, no one gives a darn about the 140 million Muslims!'
  2. The old Heathkit AR1500a is about as close to a tube sound as I've ever heard. Mid drive is unreal and it's a very warm old powerhouse. Range is excellent, controls are very wide ranging with defeat also.

Best musical solid state piece of gear I've ever heard.

    Heavy, solid, superior sounding.

  3. Having owned a HCA 1500A I can say that it is my opinion that regardless of the humm issues, it is not a very good sounding amp. At least that was the case for my system.

Thanks Josh, that was my impression too, and that's why I took it out of my system. While it seemed to image better and tame the bass of the RF-7's, I didn't like the overall tone of the midrange or highs. I didn't think the ground loop problem was a big contibutor, however I thought I would ask around here before I put the amp up for sale.

I too have owned the HCA 1500 and didn't like it on horns at all. On less sensitive speakers it sounded very good. I had some early model B&W 602s it matched well with and a couple of other "darker" speakers like Polk monitors.
  4. You guys might be the ones I need to talk to.

I have 4 of the RF-7 Premier drivers. Two of them are domed dust caps and the other two are the "white ring" with the flat cone. All very nice and working super.

I also have a bunch of Klipsch Cerametallic 10" RSW drivers and passives.

I also have two perfect working amps for the klipsch subs. No preamps but nice working amps. RSW 10s I believe but don't remember the exact model for sure

I was going to list them later on today on the Garage Sale.

  5. Baby's First Doctor Visit ...

A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam.

The doctor arrived, and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed.

    'Breast-fed,' she replied..

'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered.

She did. He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination.

Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is underweight. You don't have any milk.'

I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma,

    But I'm glad I came
  6. The "hissing" i'll venture a guess on is a tube.

Tranny hum? I think it might be over stated and maybe some people just settle for the noise instead of taking the time and steps required to get their system quiet.

Other hum could be cables. Not to start crapola but I've used monoprice cables before. You get what you pay for.. Other lighting or ac draw in the room can cause hum also. Isolate your wiring and cables away from each other.

You can get the Dynas quiet and don't have to put up with the hum. Mine have always been "dead quiet" with absolutely NO hum. I have clean power and I can't think of any amp I have with any noise at all.

  7. Describe the "Noisy" you speak of. IS it hissing, hum, or what?

Does it sound like a cat screaming??? EX WIFE bichin? BOSS Naggin?

    Nice amps.

Noise could be from tubes, cables, ground him, yadda, yadda, yadda. Mucho possible causes for noise.

We'll need a description of the noise you speak of sir!

  8. Harry O,

Thank you for your reply. I need the steel hardware, no shelves, to rack mount a Crown DC-300A amp and Crown IC-150 pre amp. These will be driving Cornwall I's. I can run the Crown continuously, and it never even gets warm. Can you guide me to some sites for the steel frame work for rack mounts? I also have a Thorens TC-160 turn table that I want to build into the cabinet with the rack mount.

    Thanks,

Check your local music stores. Most will carry a variety of racks preassembled, rack bars to make your own racks, and different components to custom make your rack.

The Crown DC-300 won't get warm by itself unless you really load it up. IF/When you enclose all the gear together I think you'll start accumulating some heat. You might want to leave room for a fan just in case.

I ran the 300's and "ICEY" 150 (where ya at Duke?) for years. Virtually indestructible.

  9. I always hated the whine and 3 hour delay waiting on the Powerglide to shift into high gear. LOL!

You're not old. I still have some of my original Led Zepplin, The Who, Stones, Grand Funk etc on 8 track.

I had a nice 8 track player behind the tach on my '65 GTO console. My first car amp was a Spark-0-Matic 20 watt static monster but it sure kicked the original speakers

  10. Welcome to The Forums.

Boy, that is a tough question to answer......

I would vote for probably not worth it.

Would you be playing all 4 speakers at once? If not, then it makes more sense....

I just doubt you would get clean consistant sound; the speakers would probably cancel out certain frequencies... Inconsistent sound.

They are your ears though, So if you want to try and report back.....

    Good luck.

    Yea, what he says.
  11. As we 'Silver Surfers' know, sometimes we have trouble with our computers.

I had a problem yesterday, so I called Eric, the 13 year old next door (whose bedroom looks like Mission Control) and asked him to come over.

Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?'

He replied, 'It was an 'ID ten T' error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but
    nonetheless inquired,

'An 'ID ten T' error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'

Eric grinned....'Haven't you ever heard of an 'ID ten T' error before?

    'No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out'.

    So I wrote down: ID10T

Did I ever tell you that I severely dislike 'smart-alec' KIDS?
  12. I'm not used to the shorter look either buy you have to admit that the shorter grills should eleminate a lot of broken grills.

Moving the larger RFs one time will destroy the plastic grill frames and/or pegs. Logo housings seperate, yadda yadda yadda. I think it's a good move though It could have been a little longer imo.

  13. Only a woman thinks this way....
Written by a woman of course...

    Giving up wine...

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly
dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of
    dollars for dinner.

I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, 'If I give you
this money, will you buy wine with it instead of dinner?'

'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me.

'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.

'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need
to spend all my time trying to stay alive.'

'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.

'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman. I haven't had my hair
    done in 20 years!'

'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm
going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.'

The homeless Woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband be furious with
you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty
    disgusting.'

I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to seewhat a woman looks

like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.'
