  1. Randy,

I use a reinforced foam on my passives. They are guaranteed 25 years against rot. I get them out of Michigan. I buy them in bulk for a price break. Give me the dimensions you need and I'll see if I have them. They are an excellent replacement. I've used literally over a thousand of them. You can PM me or contact me at hbailey1@earthlink.net .

  2. Tom,

The manufacturer is unknown. It is a grey 6 outlet strip with trip reset, on/off, phone line in and out, cable in and out, and the power cord is almost 7/16" thick and about 4' long with an inline 1 1/4" barrell approximately 2" long. All I can find on it is a model #. 53200msa made in China.

I've waited all day and overnight and haven't noticed any noise since the change in the kids room. I usually hear the noise from my upstairs neighbors vacuum cleaner. No static and no tv interference noticed since the putting the strip in either.

This morning I took the strip out and did notice some occasional interference from what may have been a Microwave oven. Just a guess but I could hear my upstairs neighbor walking overhead in the kitchen. It lasted about 2 minutes. I've been doing tests using can openers, vacuum cleaner, jigsaw, (I've been building motorboards in my apt for my "Wallrus". No complaints from the neighbors yet!) and the strip eliminated the noise from the vacuum and can opener. Noise showed up without the strip.

To be fair I did the same tests using a Belkin SurgeStrip (trademark) and the same noises also went away.

I replaced one of the 53200msa strips with the Belkin Surge strip and the results were the same except for the can opener. I did get interference with the can opener with the Belkin. Not very scientific but a difference noticed through the can opener when I switched out strips.

Next I switched out the strips on my left channel amp. I inserted the Belkin in place of the 53200msa and i did get some previously unnoticed "tube hum" from the left channel. I switched back and the hum was gone. Enough proof for me.

I will go down the street to the PC shop this afternoon and have them search my purchases and try to find the brand I am using.

This apartment has aluminum wiring 40 years old. We received a notice last month about space heaters. I don't know if it has an effect on noise or not.

    Updates later.

  3. When I bought my power strips I bought them at a Computer shop. They were about $24.00 each. I bought 4 of them. The manufacturer of the strip guaranteed no damage from spikes or surges for an amount of up to $50,000.00 if my equipment was damaged. They are also filtered. It may be why mine work. I get no noise at all through them. I live in an apartment with 12 units. I do get noise through my sons system in his room. It doesn't have the strips I use on my system. I have one strip not being used and I will install it now and start my "diagnostics" and test his system with and without the Power strips. I'll let you know if the last strip works. I'm curious now.

  4. Hey Bears fans, The Colts defense made a lot of QBs look bad recently. Did Brady seem to be an immature QB? Lousy play calling from the Ravens? Look what they did all year long. No one said a word about the Colts Defense losing almost half their players to injuries throughout the year. We got a bit healthier at the end of the season. We received no respect going into the playoffs.

I'm a Bears fan also. For years I died and cried as Fencik, Plank, Evy, Atkins, Bufone strugled to keep scores close. not since Mcmahon have we had a good Qb. It was long before our Rozelle aggravating Punky QB arrived that we had a good Qb. Back to Wade IMHO.

The Colts made many, many, teams, QBs, Coaches look bad this year. Be proud of the Bears. It's been a rough trip for us since '85.

I'm happy to be a Colts Fan also. You think we had it any better here since the moving vans ripped off Baltimore? There were a couple of times 3 wins - 13 losses was a good year. We couldn't watch home games on the tube because the team couldn't draw a crowd. We had fans not shaving until we scored a touchdown. 9 games I think without a TD. Commercials from our famed local DJ's reminding of us how much a big joke we were.

My dad gave me hell and teased me all the time for being a Bears fan. I stuck with them, wore my Bears jacket and clothing because of the effort my beloved D always gave.

My favorite teams played last night. One had to lose. I live in Indy now and have become a real fan. Even when it was like watching My beloved Bears over the years.

Go Bears! There's always next year to kick some A$$.

If it's the Colts and Bears again next year I'll probably get out the old # 28 Jersey and think what If Gallimore hadn't gotten killed, Sayers knee would have been ok, Payton had a better team around him, Hampton would have had less than 18 knee ops, and on and on.

Thanks Chicago Bears for an exciting season of hope.

  5. Every now and then on this great forum someone will give away a pair of cabinets in decent condition. You might want to keep your eyes open for some to pop up within a reasonable distance.

I've found this forum to be extremely helpful and a bunch of very nice people. It's a very nice community.

  6. Howdy and welcome to the forum. I have artillary challenged hearing loss. I seem to enjoy the Cornwall and the old Heritage line best. Even Coulter made notice of this when I traded him my Forte ll's for a pair of his older Cornwalls. Then again, most of us have our personal preferences to audio in every form. I believe the other member was saying it was a QUESTION not a QUESTING and was not trying to be rude at all. Just a typo referring to frequencies possible. IMHO only.

    Again welcome to the forum

  7. I'm throwing my hat in the ring on the horns and many other items. Not just these but a half dozen being offered right now. I bid on a lot of items I don't win. I want the extra parts around for projects. I seldom buy on ebay to turn a profit. I don't see it as driving up prices at all. Capitalism! It is an auction! If you want them, bid on them. The guy might be a forum member or not. I've lost out on a lot of items to forum members. I bid what I think they are worth to me. I play with different parts to try to find a personal sound for my audio HOBBY. I get miles of pleasure playing around trying to get a look inside the designs that have been put to use.

I go to a half dozen auctions here in Indy EVERY week. I bid against the same guys daily. We understand the principle of the auction. If you want them bad enough you bid on them. Every now and then an item will be so cheap we buy it JUST because it is so cheap whether we need it or not. We all do it. Here on the forum we have a tendency to gloat over our super deals. I'm as guilty as any over that.

On the walls of a couple of the local auction houses there are signs stating the manipulation of prices on auctioned goods or conspiring to keep prices down is ILLEGAL and and prosecution is possible. This is a rough translation on my part. Not enough coffee for my brain to be working correctly.

It's great to get a bargain, save a couple of nickels and dimes when possible. Look at the other side of the auction. How many items would have been trashed if there wasn't the possibility of a good profit. I'm sure there are sellers just dumping items so they don't have to trash them. I do it at times. I do it for a profit also. I have bought items my friends on the forum have made mention of wanting. I sold them the items at exactly what I have in them. No extra charges of anykind. I've made good money on items that friends have offered me good profits on. I give away good items to friends wanting them for a good use or just wanting them for any reason.

If my buying an auction item or my bidding on an auction item is going to change anyones life or hardship anyone please let me know. I will gladly back out and feel like I have done something to make GOD smile on me today. If not, just bid more. OK?

  8. The kid already has a small Yamaha 5.1 for his dvd/vcr combo unit. He likes it just fine. Nothing special, 80w x 5 small powered twin 6" sub. We both like 60's and 70's rock. This time of year we will be in the house more and I figured to counter some of the winter boredom with the surround system. I've never been too impressed/interested in the home theater sound with small satellites and a sub. To me it's still like 1 speaker spread out throughout the room. Inept for 2 channel music.

I'm just not sure which way to go for surround. I like the LARGE presence of the big Heritage speakers and hope I can find the same feel with a surround unit without spending close to $5,000.00. I had thought the Heresy II used as satellites might work good for the surround system and I might be able to throw a digital receiver in the mix and have decent movie effects. Just looking for competent advice from someone who had already been there. I do value the input of our forum members.

    Thanks, HarryO

  9. I've been a Bears fan since the late 50's early 60's. Watching Willie Gallimore in the Championship game (pre Super Bowl days) did it for me. After Papa Bear departed and Ditka was let go (broke my heart) the days of the old black and blue type football was gone forever to me. Wannstadt made me sick. I didn't have a favorite team then. Over the last 6 or 7 years I've slowly become a Colts fan. The last 3 years I've been bleeding Blue. The Colts have put together a Class act any city can be proud of. Quality product. Winning with Class. Losing with class. Let the Colts class be an example for all sports.

New Bears playing like "Da Bears" has made them my second favorite team. I'm lucky this year to watch my 2 favorite teams play in THE GAME.

I think the Bears have a fast hard hitting team on both sides of the ball. Bears have a good chance to win this one. Don't count out Archies kid just yet though. Don't think the Colts "D" is going to lay down.Colts have played tough nosed football this year. They found the heart to pound on both sides of the DMZ.

I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A 4 X 4 PIECE OF PLEXIGLASS TO COVER MY SCREEN IN CASE I END UP THROWING SOMETHING BECAUSE OF A STUPID CALL OR BONEHEAD PLAY ON EITHER SIDE OF THE BALL. I JUST WANT TO SEE A "GREAT" GAME.

COLTS 34 - BEARS 27 IS MY GUESS. I MISSED THE BEARS VS SAINTS. I WOULDN'T PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO MY PICS. IF IT GOES BAD THERE IS ALWAYS ROCK AND ROLL!!

  10. Thank you. I have 12' deep x 17' wide room to use. Typical single guy action movies via HD satellite. Animal planet and cartoons also. (I'm a single full time dad of a 6 year old boy) I'll probably try to find a Klipsch THX 15 sub if I need it.

Next question: Think I ought to just buy a Klipsch HT package and be done with it? That way I'll still keep my 2 channel independent and no compromise trying to blend 2 systems. I have all the components laying around, but the time is what I'm trying to save. Thanks for your thoughts. BTW, nice old Mac

  11. Ok, I'm going to set up a home theater system again. I"m a 2 channel diehard. I'm thinking of using my Heresy II's for the 4 satellites, my Belle for a center, and my Wallrus(cross between cornWALL and choRUS) clones for my mains for 2 channel. More than likely a big Denon 5.1 140 wpc a friend is wanting to trade in for one of my tube amps. Question here is, has anyone set up similar and what should I expect, or is there a better setup for what I have to use?

    Thanks, HarryO

  12. Great looking speakers at a super price. I did notice in your pics there is a floor vent next to one of your speakers. You may want to use a "diverter" to direct the heat away from the speaker cabinet. The warm dry air can be harmful to your cabinets and finish.
