  1. The Vikes gave the game away. One int/fumble return for TD is enough, but then a second one less that 5 minutes later? The Steelers defense wanted it more than the Vikes did at the end of this game. I am a life-long Vikings fan, but gotta congradulate the Steeler "D" for their performance on the stretch of the game. They could of won the game, but didn't. Bret's aura of perfection is gone now; just get back to playing straight up football.
  2. I wonder how hot that room was temperature-wise? A lot of tubes kicking out a lot of heat. It would cut your gas heating bills in the winter; have to think it'd kick the heck out of your electrical bills though. A friend here in Minneapolis has a couple of nice Audio Research tube amps. Doesn't drive them hard at all, but he says he can definitely feel a temperature difference in the room after he has been listening for a while.
  3. Do you have the layout grid for this horn available? If you do, I would appreciate a copy, or the dimensioning info too. Thanks!! Gary O
  4. Hey Stew, I understand what you've been through. My Mom passed away about 5 years ago. She had congestive heart failure, and had been in a slow decline for years. She lived in Omaha where my sis and her family live. I got a call from the hospital saying she was critical and if I wanted to have any chance to be with her, I should get going. I live in Miineapolis, and its a 400 mile drive. Yes, I broke every speed law in Iowa on the way down, but I got there and had a chance to tell her goodbye, how much we loved her, and the it was time to go and be with Dad (he'd passed away in '95). And in the next few minutes, her heart slowed and then stopped. She was gone. So I've been there and done that but don't let anybody kid you; with a loving family the hurt never really goes away.
  5. It makes me wonder how good the music might be on the Joey Heatherton album if she goes to that extreme to"promote" it. She's a beautiful girl, but come on; that's not "Art" it's narcissism.
  6. So what would be the recommendations for 2" drivers for this horn? Assuming it would be used as a midrange, low end about 400 Hz, and going to about 4500 Hz like the Cornscala II crossover Bob has put together, What would you guys suggest? I am looking for a good performing driver, but it should also be moderate in pricing ($150-300). Your thoughts would be appreciated. Gary
  7. Hi Guys. I have been out for a while; family situations that demanded attention, but things have settled down now. Regarding those elusive PC50 adapters, I wasn't able to get anything from Speakercity.com (except aggravation). However, I was able to locate a supplier in England who had the exact same thing. I have received 6 of the adapters, and will be using 2 for the pair of Cornscalas I am building. They cost me about $30.00 each; they are a nicely milled piece of aluminum. The Atlas PD-5VH screws into them just fine, and they mate perfectly with the Goldwood GM-450PB horn. I checked the overall depth, and from the front lip of the horn to the back of the Atlas driver, overall measurement is about 14". The CS I am building will be 16" deep, with the motorboard flush on the front. All the speakers/horn assemblys will be inset flush with surface of the motorboard. If anyone needs a set of the adapters, let me know. You'd need to cover my costs and shipping so I can break even on these adapters.
  8. I had a CPAP unit, and used it for a month, trying to get used to the it. I didn't get a good nights sleep in that time frame; woke up every couple hours, then try to go back to sleep. Finally said to hell with it, unplugged the machine and put it away. Haven't had the thing out since then.
  9. I think I have found a one piece adapter that will do what needs to be done to join the Atlas driver to the Goldwood horn. Go to www.speakercity.com, then click on the P-Audio logo. In their listing of company sectors, go the the P-Audio Adapters, and scroll down to the PC50. It's a one piece unit that looks like it should do the job. I have a couple of them coming to me to experiment. I'll let you know how it goes; it is supposed to be 3.5" tall, so I'll have to see if I can make the three pieces fit into a CornScala II box.
  10. You're right. The adapter needs to be female thread for tha Atlas driver to connect, and a 2" throat for the Goldwood to bolt up. The Goldwood has a 4 hole configuration on the mounting flange.
  11. That adapter is designed to connect a threaded driver on to a flanged horn, but with a 1" throat. I need to go to a 2" throat.
  12. Catbo, Can you supply an address, phone, or e-mail address for the adapter supplier? I have the Goldwood horn, and was looking for that type of adapter. Any source information would be appreciated. Thank you!! Gary
  13. I was wondering what is the correct size of the opening for the woofer in the Khorn? I refer to the opening where the woofer first fires at the start of the folded horn. I'd heard that there was variations on that size in the early SKHorns; that they weren't the correct size when compared to current models? I know that opening/port/whatever has a "proper name" but right now I can't remember what it is. Thanks guys, GaryO
  14. My wife works in downtown Minneapolis; the bridge used to be on my route to get to my job and back. It is quite a mess. Still have a number of people missing. It's presumed they are in the cars that are still underwater in the Mississippi. The Army Corp of Engineers is here to assist with the getting things cleared out, and the FBI is talking with all the construction workers that were on the bridge.
