  1. They have an upcoming gig along with other bands here in Calif with Culver City based radio station Jack FM 93.1
  2. I have RF's with a Sunfire Sig and it sounds pretty good. Experiment with the volume control placement, and the crossover points on the Sunfire for best results. I have mine in a corner and the bass is incredible for its size.
  3. Hey EAR, if you ever want to sell one of those F113's, let me know[]
  4. I recently had them done and it definately tamed the highs. Get a few of your favorite cd's and listen to them frequently before you do the DeanG mod. You will notice a difference.
  5. Hmmm, I guess I could hook both up. Actually the Sunfire has enough bass on its own. I was thinking of putting the old Paradigm in my garage to give my garage stereo a little more bang!
  6. Found a great deal on a new Sunfire Signature sub. My Paradigm PS1000 has been faithful to me for over 10 years, but I just wanted something new that could extend a little deeper. I really wanted the JL Audio Fathom 113, but it's a little too pricey right now. I heard good reviews for the Sunfire and liked the idea that it didnt take up alot of space.I knew the Sunfire was small, but when I actually opened it up I laughed at the almost "toyish" size of it. This was going to put out deeper bass than my twice as big Paradigm?? After hooking it up, I was blown away. This thing is incredible for its size. I can walk to different rooms in the house and still "feel" the bass. Even standing outside the house this thing rocks. This sub produces very tight and accurate bass for music and powerful chest pounding bass for movies. Most importantly though, this thing has to be the most wife friendly sub available.
  7. I know there are alot of mixed feelings on the board about Monster products, but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents about the Monster MPA 2250 amp. There really isn't alot of info as far as reviews and opinions about this amp on the internet. When it arrived at my door, I nearly gave myself a hernia lifting it. This thing is extremely heavy and seemingly well built. You could probably drop it off a two story building and it would be ok. The amp has great bass and mids, and the highs sound very smooth compared to the other amps I tried( Acurus, Adcom) Gone is much of the harshness at higher volume. Speaking of volume, the RF7's and the Monster seem to have endless amounts of it. I was listening to some Lenny Kravitz and Crystal Method to give both speakers and amp a good workout. I cranked it up and the digital meters on the amp showed instantanious peaks of over 300 WPC and showed no signs of even breaking a sweat. It was only warm to the touch after this workout. The RF7s sounded incredibly clear even at this level- Gee, the woofers actually DO move in and out on these things There was alot of travel left on the volume knob, but I actually chickened out. Low and moderate levels are also very detailed and smooth. For the price I paid, $1025 shipped to my door, this amp is an incredible bargain, a hidden gem. It is worth a listen guys. I know there has to be some others who are curious about this amp.
  8. Dean, that would be great!! Let me know how much and I will send you a check asap!!
  9. Things are getting better all the time. I have been trying a few different amps and messing around with location and such. First of all I have to say that I have always been an integrated receiver kind of guy. Well, after hooking the RF7's up to an external amp, I have to say holy $%#^ these things are even more bitchin'. Even at lower volume, detail is awesome. I cranked up some Crystal Method and the hairs on the back of my neck started to move. I have read some posts stating that the RF7's lack bass- NO WAY!! They just need more power. These things will suck an amp dry for all its got and then some! Ive had my powered sub turned off for some time now. I started with an older Acurus A250 amp which sounded ok, but the highs sounded harsh. I have an Adcom GFA 555 hooked up right now and it sounds pretty good. I have a Monster Power 2250 on order so we'll see how that goes. I want to do the DeanG mods as soon as I can, but i think i will miss being without my babies even though it will just be a week or so . You guys were right in telling me that things are going to get expensive!!, I have a list of components and upgrades that I want to do already.
  10. I am using a Denon AVR3805 with my RF7s right now and they sound great. It's rated at 120 WPC. I have an external amp, but haven't hooked it up yet. I still cant believe how great these speakers sound with only a small amount of power. Check out Cruthfield.com --they have great deals on open box items. I bought my Denon from them and got $300 off because it was an open box item and had a scratch so small i needed a magnifying glass to see it.
  11. seems like a great sub from the specs, why are you selling??
  12. I know the audio world has some diehard LP record fans. The results of your evaluation of the two sources will be interesting
  13. Did a search on this but found nothing. I was looking at this amp as an upgrade for my 2 channel and HT setup. I am running RF7 fronts and am going to upgrade my center and rears to Klipsch very soon. 300 wpc x5 for $1850 on ebay. My price range is about $1500 for an amp, is this a good deal? any better recommendations http://cgi.ebay.com/ADCOM-GFA-7805-5-CHANNEL-AMP_W0QQitemZ260086345349QQihZ016QQcategoryZ67788QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  14. My new RF7's arrived today, and like a little kid at Christmas, I dropped everything and rushed to open them. I took the day off work to wait for UPS. Wow!!, these are some manley speakers- they make my Polk RTi 10's look like toys. Since I still had the Polks hooked up, I did a side by side comparison. The RF7's blew them away hands down. I couldnt believe how much more efficient the Klipsch's are. The RF7's played as loud at a 0.0 db volume gain on my Denon than the Polks played at a 10.0 gain. I know its not a totally fair comparison, as the RTi's are not Polks flagship speaker, but it is all I had to compare to. I couldnt stop smiling. From M Jackson to Bachbusters these things rocked the house even without my external amp. I blew out one of my recessed light bulbs from the bass.I had to check several times to make sure my powered sub was turned off ( and it was) because the bass was very powerful- and I am a bass head. I cannot imagine these beasts hooked up to a high quality amp running a continuous 200- 300 watts, I think windows would start cracking. These are what I have been looking for in a speaker system- powerful, clean sound that will rattle the walls and put a big, stupid grin on my face. I am very happy with these speakers. The wife hasn't seen them yet- hopefully she wont notice the difference!!
  15. Newby, with a question. I am thinking of going with "in ceiling" surround speakers instead of floorstanding surrounds. I am currently using an older pair of Bose AM5 sats and the bass module for my rear surrounds, and have my eye on the Klipsch ceiling mount speakers. Are there any major Pro's or Con's to using the ceiling speakers as opposed to floor/wall mounts??
  16. Hello to all. Although I have not taken delivery yet, I am the owner of a pair of new RF-7's. For the last year I have owned a pair of Polk RTi10's but was disappointed with their high volume performance. While these speakers sounded good at low to moderate volume, the mids sounded terrible when cranked up. The mid bass driver actually began to "pop" and looked like it was going to fly out of its basket. They were driven with a Denon AVR 3805 and an Acurus A250. It seemed like they couldnt even handle half of their 300 watt rating. Anyway, I look forward to taking delivery of the Klipsch's. I remember as a teenager reading about the unique sound of Klipsch horn speakers in my old Stereo Review magazines. I figured I would give the RF7's a try. I have heard they will sound just fine, even when I give them the ocassional CRANK IT UP. I look forward to any suggestions you guys might have to get the best sound from the RF7's
