  1. Wow, no one has heard them. I can't find them anywhere myself. I can order them, for quite cheap actually, but can't find any reviews online, or listen to any myself.
  2. I was wondering if anyone has heard the THX in-walls, and possible the ks 7800, the surrounds. I'm still pondering my great room, and thinking of desiging a dedicated HT in the basement, but still having a nice system (unobtrusive) upstairs. I would pair them with the two THX subs. I'm still on the fence with the 83's, only for the reason that I hear you have to pull them off the wall a bit, and don't really want to, and may hang a tv on the wall, instead of going with a large rear projection. If I didn't have to pull them away from the wall, it would be an easy decision. Thoughts?
  3. Thanks for the review. I hadn't even thought about that, but it's a great idea, building a cabinet to accomodate the L,C,R,. Where in your cabinet did you put the center? I suppose I could put it under the tv and angle it upwards slightly. And you are right, I would think the 83's would sound better for music. I listened to a cd on the ultra 2's and the music sounded pretty good, but not the way it should sound coming out of a tower. It's also good to hear about the receiver, I looked at that one, but am going to go with the 4803 for now. Possibly, once I learn more about all of this, I will invest in a preamp. Until then, I have to find a good cabinet maker. Thanks for the feedback.
  4. Towne TV had an excellent demo room, and I loved it. Hippo's only had the rf 82, and no klipsch thx stuff. As far as the stand goes, I'm not sure what I want to do. I don't know where to put the center. I don't want the system to be too invasive to the room. I know I'll put at least the other 2 kl 650's on stands left and right of the tv, but the center has me a little lost as to where to put it. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. That's my only problem with the system really, where to put that center speaker. Also, I think I'm going to mate the system with the denon avr 4306 receiver, I can get this receiver for 1300, 200 under budget. Anyone have this receiver, or have any input on it? Thanks for the replies.
  5. My new home is being built in amsterdam. I know towne tv in rotterdam has the ultra 2 system. If there's anyone around that sells the 83's, I'd love to hear them. I think I may just go with the ultra 2 system though. I can the entire system that retails for 10750 for 4300, so i'm thinking of just going with that set up, even if I don't use all 7 speakers at first. Is this a good price? Anyone know of any good tv entertainment stands for the sony 60 inch xbr2 rear projection that would allow me to put a kl-650 thx in it as a center?
  6. Whereabouts in NY is the dealer? I live about 25 minutes west of albany. I would love to hear the 83's before I make a final decision. I thought I knew what I wanted, but have yet to listen to both. At least I know what subs I'm getting.
  7. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll start with a good receiver, around 130 wpc or more, and worry about anything else later. I think I've decided to go with the rf 83's, rc 64, rs 62's for surrounds, and the thx subs. How much does that emotiva receiver run by the way? I'm guessing my $1500 budget may be too low for it, i suppose it depends on how much I can talk the wife up to. I'll have many more questions, thanks for the responses.
  8. I'm not sure how many amps I will use. I was just going to use one receiver, around 140 watts per channel or so, until I saw a post that said I should use an amp. How many amps should I be using? I don't want to spend a fortune, I figured around 1000, to 1500 on a receiver, but I'm not sure what a decent amp even costs. How many amps would you guys recommend for powering 2 rf 83's, an rc 64, and two rs 62's. The subs will be the 2 thx subs with their own amp. Thanks.
  9. I think it will be mostly for movies. We listen to music, but not for hours on end, too busy most of the time. Now I have another question. Someone said to get an good amp for the 83's. I'm taking a wild guess that this amp will power only the 83's, but again, I am new, and will probably enlist the help of a professional when it comes time to do everything since it's a new home, and I'm putting all of the electronics in a closet that's vented. I asked in a previous post which receiver I should be looking at, now I guess I'll ask what amp I should be looking at, and around how much I should be spending on it. Thanks for the crash course, I'm trying to learn.
  10. Thanks for the reply. I hear that the rf 83's are excellent. I've only heard the 82's, any comparisons? I liked them, but want to upgrade. Decisions decisions.
  11. I was wondering if anyone has had the chance to listen to both the THX ultra 2 7.1 system, and the rf 83 5.1 system, and be able to compare them. I have listened to the thx system, but no one around here has any rf 83's or even rf 63's, only rf 82's. I have the budget to get either system. Was wondering any opinions/recommendations on the two considering they're mostly for movies. I have a 16x22 great room with 10 foot ceilings, and no wall in the back(kitchen). Keep in mind I'm coming from a htib, and stepping up quite a bit, so I'm kind of a newb. How is the new triangular sub by the way, I loved the thx subs, so i could use those with the rf 83 system. Anyways, A.D.D. getting the best of me, I appreciate any opinions/recommendations.
  12. Thanks, I'm gonna go check these receivers out and make my final decision. I think I talked my wife into getting the ultra 2 system. Anyone know where to get stands for the speakers, or if they're on the website, I can't seem to find them. thanks again for the replies.
  13. Hi, new to the forum, and have a few questions. I'm in the process of choosing an audio system for my great room. My wife and I loved the THX Ultra II System, and I'm wondering what receiver you guys would recommend for it. I figure I'll spend around $1,000 to $1,500. I am getting a 1080p tv, so I need the hdmi inputs and all those other goodies. Since I'm somewhat new to all of this, I still need help choosing gear. Also, if she thinks the system will be too ugly for the great room, she said I can get the rf 83 home theater surround system instead, but again, need advice on the receiver, same price range. Thanks.
