  1. Yeah, I found that too and did the reset. The reset did not fix the issue. I did however try the remote and that actually works fine. I'll probably take it in just to get a quote and then move forward from there. Thanks for the advice.
  2. Yeah I agree with you Gil. It appears to be a microprocessor issue. My friend gave it to me because he bought a Sony 7.1 system that he thinks is the best thing going and doesn't have any tech knowledge in general.I also think he thought it would cost big $ to fix. As far as anybody knows the unit does not have any other problems. The knob is on tight, I need to get some batteries to try the remote, but I believe he said it still has the problem even with the remote. I looked at the manual and the back of the unit for a reset and did not see any, but I should look again, as this is not the best written manual in the world. Thanks for the input.
  3. A friend of mine just gave me a Marantz SR 8000 receiver. I believe it was manufactured in 2000 and it is a 5.1 system. See the attachment for more info. The volume on the receiver is currently not working properly. You have to turn the volume up/down extremely slow for it to go to the desired level. If you turn it any faster then it just sticks at its current volume. A local repair shop quoted $60-$200 to fix the volume issue. I am debating on whether or not it is worth it to fix? I would probably be hooking the receiver up to RF-52 or RF-82 with matching center channel. It would be mainly used for two channel music and some 3.0 movie watching. I plan on putting it in a vacation home that is not that big, the room might be 15x20. I guess I just question whether the receiver is getting a little outdated? It doesn't have EQ functions except bass/treble settings. You can't set crossover points, and probably a few other options,,,ect. Even though I am not hooking up a 5.1 setup, I just didn't know how well it would drive these speakers and sound? Also I am not very familiar with Marantz products in general. There are cheap Onkyo's / Yamaha's out there for $200-$300 that could probably perform the same duty and they would be new. Just looking for anyone's thoughts. Thanks c_sr8000.pdf
  4. Does anybody know when Klipsch will make one of these units portable? That is run on batteries similar to the Apple, Polk systems ect... I was forced to buy the Polk portable miDock studio player because I wanted something I could bring to a BBQ / campfire and so on. If Klipsch had a similar product the choice would have been easy. Sorry this is kind of off topic from the post, just thought you guys would know.
  5. I personally think your proposed setup looks pretty good, but I would probably upgrade the sub. I have the RSW 10d and feel that it does well with the 82's. If you have the money I would upgrade the receiver while you are at it. I am still a rookie in the audio world, but I have a similar setup that sounds great.
  6. I have the RSW-10d and I think it sounds great. I have not heard a wide variety of other subs, but feel that 10d is powerful and has clean sound.
  7. I kind of agree with xdtroitx about moving up to the 83's. With that said I do own the 82's and it is a great setup. The system packs a serious punch for the $
  8. I have the RF-82's with the RC-52 center and I think it sounds great. Then again I am not a hardcore audio junkie who could hear flaws in the setup like some others. I did the 52 because I did not have room for the 62 on my 3 shelve rack. The 62 was just too wide to fit with all the other components. If you have the room and the $, then I guess go bigger. Either way it is a great setup.
  9. I will most likely go with the RS-62 surrounds, but I want to research the surround market first before making that purchase. Also I may move within a year or two, so that may change my room setup. I am kind of in a holding period right now. Have to say though that I am very impressed by the speakers. For the $ this system can clearly shake the entire "three flat" building here in the city. Luckily I have some cool neighbors, for now.
  10. The new setup. Now I just have to get some surround speakers.
