  1. At the risk of making this political, this has been happening a lot lately. (I'll be good, Amy!) New regulations that may restrict how much and how often credit card companies can raise their rates has many companies scrambling to raise rates before the legislation goes into effect. I don't know the specifics of the legislation, but it's part of the economic reform going through Congress now. I'm not saying anything good or bad about it. It's just businesses seeing possible restriction in the future, so they're raising rates while they can, just in case. And that's all I'm gonna say about that. []
  2. I take it both the RF-7 and RF-5 are made in Hope? The RF-5 page says made in Hope, but the RF-7 page doesn't.
  3. Your point is well taken. My primary comlaints aren't with strict regulation, but with the complete incompetence and ignorance with which they are carried out. If you're carrying a large sum of cash (say a couple thousand dollars - far below the $10k limit that flags the IRS, customs, etc.), you can expect to be detained and possibly have the cash seized. People have been told they do not have Constitutional rights in an airport. Period. I understand the reality of today's world. I also understand that flying, in most cases, is a choice. I choose not to put myself through that headache and trauma. I would rather my travel time be 5 times longer than fly. I am thankful I don't have to fly as part of my job. If I did, I would probably try to find other employment.
  4. With the TSA making flight a complete nightmare these days, there is NO way I will fly unless it is the absolute last resort. I'd rather drive 1000 miles than fly. Let all the airlines go bankrupt for all I care. They deserve it.
  5. We might be able to accommodate that if you're interested. I can inquire on Monday. While I am interested, it's not something that would be in the budget any time soon. With the economy, all of my "fun" expenditures have been put on indefinite hold. []
  6. Very interesting! I love how they have the wood front instead of black plastic on the original RF-7. Gotta hate that they're not offered in the original natural Cherry. I'd be sorely tempted to buy another pair, but they won't match my existing setup.
  7. I've been browsing through the "backstage" area checking out the videos, pics, etc. for download and found the several short video clips of PWK. It's really interesting hearing him talk a little bit about himself and how he got started. But I about fell out of my chair laughing on his comment about patents, " He says to me, 'Paul, what I want is anytime you get an idea, any kind of screwball idea - get a patent on it.' ... ...I got some d*** fool patents." [] That's just priceless.
  8. The 970 and 990 do not have HDMI. But they do have 7.1 analog in, so if your BD player decodes Dolby True HD, you're in business. That's also why they're offering the $200 discount on the 997 for 970 buyers when it comes out. Heck, with the discount, I could sell my 970 for $100 and still break even, and I get to enjoy the 970 while waiting for the 997. The big reason I want a 997 is the Trinnov optimizer. That's worth the price of admission right there.
  9. Well said. Even when building my Reference 7 system, I noticed how they showed weaknesses in other areas of my system or poor quality recordings that I didn't notice before. It's forced me to up the quality across the board, but the reward in acoustic bliss has been well worth it. Moving from Reference to Heritage really is a huge jump. When you consider I have RF-7, RC-7 and RS-62 speakers, and all of them combined, plus my Outlaw 970 pre/pro and Outlaw 7500 amp cost less than one pair of new Klipschhorns, you begin to realize how big of a jump it is. I'm sure if/WHEN I get some Heritage speakers, it will be the same thing all over again.
  10. Yes, I have the 7500 amp. It's an incredible piece of equipment - all 80 lbs of it. I am VERY pleased with the Outlaw equipment. I have RF-7 / RC-7 fronts with RS-62 surrounds and it drives them effortlessly with seeming unlimited headroom and dynamics. I had been running just a 2 channel setup with the RF-7s on a QSC amp, and I have to say the Outlaw holds it's own against the QSC very well. I'm hoping to upgrade to the 997 when it comes out later this year, if the budget allows.
  11. Yes, the Outlaw 970 is selling for $299 through midnight July 5th. Not only that, but if you buy one and decide to upgrade to the 997 when it comes out later this year, you get a $200 discount on the 997. I got my 970 last Thanksgiving on their Black Friday sale for the same deal. Best bargain I've seen in new home electronics in a LONG time.
  12. Trust in Him. If I've learned anything in my life (and some would debate that), it's that while many times I've not known how I was going to get through a situation, somehow I have always managed to survive. It may sound a bit cliche, but the Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God cannot protect you. Take care.
  13. They say strife builds character. I don't know about you, but I'm about as charismatic as I care to get! [] That said, we can all use some Good Vibrations from time to time, so here you go... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCeD_6Y3GQc Good thoughts are sent your way. Get someone local to add a Margarita to that, and you've got the beginnings of the weekend. Hope things improve for you. [Y]
  14. To quote Steve Martin, "...and after all the time I spent holding up her poster with one hand." Rest in Peace, Farrah. At least your battle is over.
  15. Oops. Missed the other post. Yes, I looked. [:$]
  16. I've seen one of these at a local McDonald's.
  17. I'm afriad to listen to Heritage speakers, because I just finished most of my Reference 7 surround system and I don't want to have to start all over again buying new speakers. [] Maybe as an additional 2 channel setup? See, that's how it starts. []
  18. Yes, "klipschstore" is direct from Klipsch. They're not a dealer, it's Klipsch's own Ebay store. They sell refurbs, etc. on there. I have purchased from there before. You can bid with confidence.
  19. http://picasaweb.google.com/iranonfire More pics....
  20. Did PWK have an endearing term he used for fans of his speakers? I like "Klipsch-heads" but I think we can do better. "Groupies" suggested not just lose women, but people who may just be following a fad because it's the "in" thing. Chasing fame, so to say. Klipsch fans that I've known haven't been ones to follow audio trends and fads, but put their stock in quality sound first and foremost.
  21. IMAO, speakers most certainly qualify as "hi-fi equipment." That's easily demonstrated by hooking up $100,000 worth of the finest source, pre-amp, and amps to a pair of budget speakers. I'm sure he was referring to the electronics such as amps, preamps, etc., but he should have been more specific.
  22. I came here to talk about Trans Ams.
  23. I've used a QSC amp on my RF-7s and love it. I've recently added an Outlaw 5 channel amp for my surround system, but when I upgrade to a 7.1 setup, I'll probably put my RF-7s back on the QSC.
  24. What kind of network capability does it have? Does the ethernet connection only work for BD Live?
  25. FOTR sounded like a movie is supposed to sound. Loud sounds were LOUD, and quiet sounds were quiet, and everything in between. The shreak was ear splitting because it was supposed to be. Not trying to be snarky, but watch how the characters recoil at the sound. Now, the emphasis on the "s" in speech - I didn't notice that. One thing I have noticed is it sounds wonderful on my Outlaw 970, but when I was using my Pioneer AVR, I found myself constantly cutting the volume up and down because loud scenes were just harsh and uncomfortable to listen to, but when those were cut back, dialog was too quiet. I didn't have this problem once I upgraded to the Outlaw.
