  1. I can always make it smaller...not that hard to cut the top off a few inches if i dont like the results...
  2. Hey all...quick question. I am building a sonosub with a TC-2000 driver (24" dia, 44" tall, 29" * 6" port ~ 15hz tuning) and didn't know what if any kind of stuffing or sound deadening material I would need to use on the inside? If so I have read that the cheap stuff at the local big box mart will due...but how would you attach it to a cylinder wall? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Yes yes yes...its all good and well that you scored high on your fantasy team...but how did the game SOUND on your two channel system? Fantastic I am sure! Also, anybody have a tip for the best show of the year at a symphony in the midwest...preferably in Indiana or Ohio?
  4. No...ebay them, pawn them, give them away and buy new or used klipsch
  5. Please please don't think that i am saying you should get rf-7's and keep the other stuff too...but i have purchased lightly used rf-7's, rc7, rs-7's and rb-75's for not much more than the rf-7's original list price. And I am driving them will my home theater in a box sony and 16 gauge wire until i can spare the funds for a separates...doesn't sound as good as it could...but its better than anybody i know that isn't on this forum...lol. As to where to find deals...look on here, ebay, craigslist, and get lucky. If you are ready to buy and patient you can often find good deals.
  6. I agree with previous posts about looking at the rf-7's I listened to both the rf-7 and rf-82 and got the 7's cheaper used that the new 82's. (Paid $750 on ebay for a pair and was lucky enough to get free shipping via a college buddy) The 82's sound great...and were my second choice to the 7's...but there is something special about the rf-7s. they don't need to have a sub woofer with them to get deep bass and can make you think you have a center channel without...I would spend the money to get the rf-7's and get the other center and surround later ad funds permit. I and I am sure many others on this forum would agree that you would be happier in the long run.
  7. http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/article2406549.ece What do you think the ticket price would be?
  8. As with most threads things kind of travel down a road of their own...all things that have some amazing acoustic tracks recorded well are fair game i suppose. Also, as a suggestion for all...the extended version of John Williams The Guitarist is very good imho.
  9. Some of these guys i have never heard of in my long life but hopefully we can educate us young whiper snappers on who taught the guys that are on the radio...like who is eric clapton? j/k but really i hadn't heard of john renbourn. Maybe next we can get a blues thread going. I checked out most of the suggestions (not exhaustively though)...I have some Renbourn, Menthey, and more Clapton on the way.
  10. WPines, I see that you have both a sophia baby and the blueberry/vrd combo...could you give a short descrption of the differences between the two setups? I am trying to decide if I want to get a sophia for now and save up for the bb/vrd later, and if so will i still use the sophia's after that point. Thanks, clay
  11. Sounds like I have some trips to amazon in my future. Thanks for the suggestions, I have a good deal of the acoustic alchemy stuff and like most of it but at times it can just be weird...lol. If anybody else has suggestions please chime in.
  12. Hello all, I am looking for some well recorded acoustic guitar tracks. Any genre would work...spanish, clasical, modern. Just want some warm music to show the softer side of my RF-7's / HIII's. Preferably on cd or sacd. Anybody have some suggestions?
  13. Same question as Scott, I would be interested in one if he passes or doesn't want both. Please feel free to pm or email me, I am in Ohio but make it to Lafayette, IN occasionally which is fairly close to Chicago. Thanks, Clay
  14. Hey all, the girlfriend is going back to college and wants to take a set of speakers with her...so its good she likes Klipsch...but now i think she likes it too much because I am losing some of my stash. In any case, i was going to send the kp201's and one of my "vintage" (older, built like a tank, and can't get hurt) amps. So that means I will need something to replace it, the question is does anybody have an older integrated amp lying around that is getting some dust on it? Below are my preferances in no particular order. Sounds pretty good, functional, has at least the standard treble/bass, balance, volume knobs or buttons(ha) Close to Indy/Ohio for local pickup Remote is a big plus At least 60 watts/ch No scratchy pots, blown lights, or magic dust emitting at full power Phono input also a plus One of the "name brands" ... harmon, dennon, etc... 2 channel min, more channels is ok...but I don't need surround sound price ~ $0 - 150 negotiable I know I can search on ebay/craigslist...but i figured i would ask here first Thanks
  15. I too would be interested in these items. I have a set of kp-201's that these would make nice mains for...let me know when you have an idea of what you want. Thanks.
  16. Wow...I saw that they were raising prices on their website...but didn't know it would be that much. I just purchased a TC-2000 before the apparent raise...good timing i guess. All I know is that i smile when i run 700 watts at 25hz...gotta watch out for the brown noise though.
  17. Has anybody ever used the Behringer super-x pro cx3400 (http://www.behringer.com/CX3400/index.cfm?lang=eng) or Ultramizer Pro DSP1424p (http://www.behringer.com/DSP1424P/index.cfm?lang=eng) as a crossover between mains and sub? I think the first looks better for my specific application by the spec sheet for what i want to use it for (Crossover for my RF-7's and diy subwoofer) I will be driving the sub with a Crown Power Base 3 and want to protect it from high/low freq, be able to adjust it to my room, make it go boom...you know...what a sub is supposed to do. Looking for advice. Thanks.
  18. I am in the cinnci area and could drop by to listen/pick up at your convenience...please let me know and i would love to see the pics and get more information.
  19. Also, anybody that wasn't a jerk on this thread...and is interested in some HIII's...email me and we can discuss a what we feel like a very very fair offer is.
  20. FYI...I am wordy and long winded So...I am finally at a computer and can spend some time answering peoples questions, concerns, and issues with me. I will do the best I can and be as candid as possible. My name is Clay, I am an Industrial Engineer from Indiana and have just gotten a job in Ohio. I am no relation to anybody in this town, really I don't have that many acquaintances either...so any confusion as to if I am "scott" should now be at rest. I am relatively new to this forum, I am 22 and really really really enjoy all the nerdy things in life. Electronics, sound, and most importantly SPEAKERS...lol. This forum has provided me many hours of education, insight into where I would like to go as a quasi-audiophile, and a refuge from the hours of monotony during my final year in college. The only thing I didn't like about this forum was that on occasion people would gang up on someone who could in all of their personal motives be trying their best to be fair and honest and make them feel like crap...because they are ignorant or of a different opinion as them (be it aurally or otherwise) Well this has certainly been the case for me...and it makes me sick. I don't know what type of people you are that criticize me so harshly, but I certainly hope you live a spotless life. Furthermore, if you care to have a "Future of Klipsch" you may want to rethink how you treat the younger members of the forums who seem to be coming here in earnest. I could have just as easily purchased paradigm, b&w, etc...but along with the sound, and history I enjoy from Klipsch...the community I felt really helped seal the deal. And I have made many a Klipsch convert with my word of mouth, and often references to this forum. I have said multiple times I DO NOT know the exact value that these should bring, and I have wanted advice as to what I should ask...or at least someone make me an offer and then we can discuss it in a civil manner. I didn't at all put what I paid on the other thread because I wanted to brag, show off, or let everyone know how much of a markup I had on the speakers. The thread starts with me finding a deal, and then not knowing if these speakers were worth it, after several members said YEA YES OF COURSE...Thus I chose to purchase them (without asking to pay a penny less than the seller had them for, I knew it was a good deal...and I did not try to beat one dollar out of the person that sold them) And I had no intention whatsoever to sell them at the time. I wanted a set of nice speakers for my bedroom along with the rf-7's in my living room. So then I got them, put them side by side with my rf-7's and decided that not only was I more into the sound of the rf-7...but I also thought that in the future I would be better off to sell the HIII's and save up for something bigger with more deep natural bass. That being said, I offered the speakers to the people on the thread that were with me the whole way...and helped my decide that it was a good deal. I wanted to be honest, and not try to deceive anybody. I let DoubleJ have first dibs, and still would if he made me an offer...he declined but thanked me and said he looked forward to meeting me at the pilgrimage (very gentlemanly behavior.) I posted a link to that thread on this thread for multiple reasons...first is because I just moved, I have no internet at home, I can't safely access the forums from work, I work from before most coffee shops open to after most in my town close that have free wireless, and my laptop is so old it can't really handle large .jpeg files. Second is that I wanted everyone to know the whole process that I went through in making my decision. I realize everybody is entitled to their opinions, I indeed relish that fact and try to promote that through my behavior...so please by all means smear my reputation, question my character, and gang up on me if you wish. I will move on, but I hope that there are enough decent members on the forum (which have been on this thread as well...and I very much appreciate your comments) that will try to stop this form of steamrolling to not let the damage run too deep. There are more than just the dozen of us reading this...and their impressions of you will be more damaging to yourself and Klipsch than you give yourself credit for.
  21. Wow...so some people here have taken what they think of me way out of proportion...whoever has a problem with me can voice their oppinion...but please just say no thanks...I don't know what a fair price is...make me an offer...if you are fair to my expectations...I will take it. i didnt start out to buy then resell...i saw a deal didnt know if it was good...took it, then decided to sell b/c i didnt need/want them too bad. so if you want to purchase them, lets talk...otherwise please leave any character comments you have about me to yourself. And FYI, this is the only screenname I have, and have ever had here and will ever have here. I would like to remain a good upstanding member of the forums, and this blackballing that some people are trying is outrageous. I will be listing the item elsewhere in the next few days...so if you want to see what it is there...feel free to.
  22. I appreciate everybodies input...like I said, I really don't know what they are worth used. There are ~1500 for MSRP and I have heard that people can get them new from the dealer for ~1250. So this price is more than 35% off MSRP and around 25% off dealer best price. I realize that they are used, and do have some small imperfections...that is the cause of that discount. Perhaps I am not taking into account the discount that we should give and would want to recieve from a fellow forum member...so if anybody feels that they have a reasonable offer that would take that into account please share that with me, I am not going to pit one offer against the other and try to do this auction style. I don't absolutly need the money and I don't absolutly need the speakers...so I can wait, but would prefer not to. I would like to sell them this week so we could have a transaction next weekend at the pilgrimage, otherwise we can make arrangements to meet in Ohio/Indiana.
  23. I had put pictures up on this thread a bit ago...I have to go to distant coffeeshops for internet access so I don't get much time to do much work ...http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/3/917295/ShowThread.aspx
