Thanks to everyone for the great advice. I will be making the changes this weekend, going with the speaker inputs. The sub does have a high pass crossover that I can set to either 80 or 100 Hz. Since my speakers are LaScala, I will use the 80 Hz. Wish that it had a lower setting, as I love the bass from the LaScala, just not sufficiently deep. Thanks all - Richard

My amplifier, Marantz PM7200, does not have preamp outputs, or a subwoofer output. It does have Signal Processor/Equalizer inputs and outputs. I have the option to connect my active subwoofer with line in/out or speakers in/out. I have it connected to the Signal Processor/Equalizer inputs and outputs. Is this preferred over using the speaker inputs/outputs? Thanks - Richard

Cask05, thanks again, now I have an understanding of what I am doing, and how the phase affects the sound. Basic physics, simple harmonic motion, waves, nodes, crests etc. and timing the waves with the phase control. - Richard

Thanks Cask05. My subwoofer does have a phase control, however I am unsure how to set it up. The manual states to set it for the most bass, which happens to be at 180 degrees. Is there a better method to set it up? My only choices are 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees. If you have the time, I would really appreciate an understanding of what it does. Thanks - Richard

Chris, thank you for your informative reply. I will set the parameters as you indicated. I had never considered the built in delay, and moving the sub may not be an option due to the room. I don't think that I will use a sub on the Cornwall system. I appreciate the Cornwall as it is. Thanks again - Richard

I have just purchased my first subwoofer, and I love it. I love it so much that I will purchase one for each system, while they are still on sale. My musical taste is classical, musicals and vocals. Where should I set the low pass filter for use with my Klipschorns? Now where should I set it for my LaScalas? Finally, same question with my Cornwalls? Thanks, Richard

djk, thanks for the advice. You are correct that the mids and HF speakers are in series/parallel to net 8 ohms. I will recap with good quality caps and I will take your advice on a smaller cap value for the HF.

I purchased a pair of Sentry 100 speakers but cannot find out any info on these. The cabinets are 36" h X 31" w X 22" d, and contain 9 drivers, 15" woofer, 4 - 4.5" midrange and 4 - 2" tweeters. All drivers are 8 ohm. The current Xover consists of only an 8 uf cap to the tweeters and 24 uf cap to the midrange. The wiring to the woofer, mid and tweeters is in parallel, and the 4 tweeters are in some sort of series arrangement, as are the mid. I have no idea of the Xover points. I have a spare pair of B3 (Cornwall) Xovers. Can I use the B3 for these speakers?

Groomlakearea...Thank you for your comments. Since the speakers have not been oiled in a few months, I will start with the glass directly on the wood.

I need suggestions. I am placing glass over the tops of my oiled walnut Cornwalls to protect them. Do I place the glass directly on the wood or use felt pads or silicon pads?

The turntable just says Revolver LL58371 on the label and has the split base. It is not the Rebel. My friend recently replaced both the belt and the cartridge. I thought that $15 for my Thorens TD 160 was a good deal, but I think that the Revolver for $50 was an even better deal. What do you think is a better table the Revolver or the Thorens?

This week I move to a house from an apartment. I will finally have the space that my Khorns, LaScalas and Cornwalls need. To make it even better, a friend wanted to give me a Revolver TT fitted with a Linn Basik LV X arm and a Goldring Elektra cartridge. I couldn't accept such a gift so we agreed on $50. This will replace my Thorens TD 160 with the Khorn system, and the Thorens will now move to my LaScala system. Great week!

Belle Klipsch used the AB crossover from Feb. 1983 to Oct. 1983. In October 1983 the K-55-M was introduced, along with the AB-2 crossover. In May 2001 the K-55-X was introduced with the AB-3 crossover. This dates your Belles between Oct. 1983 and May 2001, since the midrange is the K-55-M. I would continue looking for the S/N to be stamped in the edge of the wood on the back of the cabinets. Often you will also see USA. The S/N will reveal the year and sometimes the date of manufacture.
