So how does one dub 8mm to DVD-R? What do you need to do it? Keep dreaming and it will come true.

My story isn't near as good as everyone else's. Let's rewind a few years back to my 10th wedding anny... The wife asks what do you want and I say a home theater with surround sound. So I pick up an Onkyo system. I had been on line reading about speakers, amps etc so after 5 years I decide to upgrade the amp and speakers. I decide to get speakers first since they are an investment. I go out to CC to listen to what they have and like the sound of the Polks well I go to BB and listen to a few more speakers. The wife has to go to Virginia (the town escapes me) about 2 hrs from Beckley WV. to a conference for a day so I tag along. I found a higher end audio video store and talk her into going there. When we are there I listen to several different speakers and I ask to hear the Klipsch RF 83 knowing they are out of my price range. Well that was a mistake I leave nearly in tears because I can't take any home with me. I auditioned the RB's also and I knew I could get them. So I start saving my travel checks, yearly bonus (that ain't all that much) and birthday money. Well 1 year later we go back down for a road trip and we stop and get the RB 61's, RC 10 and RS 42's and then place an order for the SVS sub. It still brings a smile to my face. Now if I only had a larger room for the RF 83's and a larger wallet.

Nice choice on the tv. I have a 43 inch Sammy that's a DLP. When I bought the price couldn't be beat. I hate to say this but customer service was great the one time I needed them. Now i'm jealous I want a larger set.

I know this isn't what you requested but I use this unit http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3342508 and have for several years. It has served me well. It holds a lot of food. Last year I bought a brisket and I had to cut it in two pieces because it was too big for 1 rack. I wanted a lot of leftovers also I loaded sausage which I smoke for a couple of hours and grill at the end a beer can chicken and I think I had 4 or 6 racks of ribs in it at the same time as well. Just an option you may want to consider.

Sorry to hear about the damaged speaker. I know 2 or 3 people that ordered stuff online this year that had to returned due to shipping damage. I know I ordered a book and when it showed up the package had been cut up the front and so had the book. Now on to speaker size. My wife likes the bookshelf speakers I have and she knows some day I will move up to floorstanders when we have the room. I was shocked that she didn't say a word when the SVS sub showed up at the house. It was double boxed and took up the entire back area of her Blazer and took two people to bring it inside. Of course it was double boxed. The only things she asks is that I don't turn the system up to reference level because the bass is too much for her and it scares the cats and dog. Well I did it I went Blu this weekend with a PS3. I didn't get a Blu Ray disc yet because I couldn't find anything I didn't already own on dvd. Tomorrow I will go out and get Wall E on Blu Ray and maybe pick up Hellboy 2.

I have been reading a lot on the forums at www.avsforum.com and www.blu-ray.com This player is on my short list. A couple of weeks ago CC had this player on sale with the Blu ray Matrix Trilogy. Panasonic has just released a model 35 but I can't exactly remember the model number. It's $300 though.

You got a heavier gauge cable than me. You still got a heck of a deal.

I can second the monoprice recommendation. I recently purchased 3 6ft cables from them and had them shipped to WV. for a little over $20. They give me excellent service and I had no problems with them.

Thanks for the square info. It's so hard to get that info. I wish I could afford the constant height set up but oh well. I probably will go Blu before too long but these past 2 weeks the funds took a beating since the bulb in my DLP died so I replaced that one and then I bought a new receiver. I had planned on getting a fancier one until the bulb went out so I got an Onkyo 606. I needed the HDMI inputs. I looked hard at the Samsung BDP-1500 since it comes with the free Matrix Trilogy from Circui City but I really only liked the 1st one and internet rumor has it that the player will be on sale on Black Friday for $150.

I can't believe I forgot about ripping cd's to the hard drive. I read somewhere a guy installed a 320 Gb hard drive in his PS3. With the new Onkyo 606 receiver that would great. I don't game as much as I used to but I still game some. I cut my teeth on the pre Atari 2600 systems. Thanks for the input folks keep them coming. Anyone using players or PS3's with only 1080i sets? I feel old now would someone pass Grandpa a beer?

I have been spending a lot of time on some other forums and I am close to making a switch to a Blu Ray Player. I am going to buy a new Onkyo 606 receiver and was thinking about getting a new Blu player. I was wondering how many people here have gone to Blu Ray why did you and if you haven't why haven't you? My main viewing area is my living room and I have a 43 inch 1080i Samsung DLP. I figured since I notice a difference in regular tv and Hi Def tv I would notice a change in the dvd picture. Thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

RB 61's up front and RS 42's in the rear. The living room is 12ft wide and 16ft long. I am using an Onkyp HT-R500 receiver (yep it needs upgraded to something that will HDMI) Hope that helps.

I have the RC 10 center channel because that is what would fit into the opening on the entertainment center. It works pretty good with the rest of my RB speakers.

I love it! I wish Klipsch did make car audio speakers I would buy them.

My little 10 inch sub from SVS still puts a smile on my face. I wanted a larger cylinder but was afraid the wife would kill me. Right now I am very happly. The only thing that upset me a little bit with SVS is that they didn't ship it to my office like I asked them to. I had to go to the UPS depot to pick it up since nobody was home when they tried to deliver it. It took two of us to carry it up the 19 stairs since it was double boxed. The subejt of gret debate. Some sound engineer tried to tell me that not rotating the horn would screw up the dispersion. I said the field would be a little narrower. Anyway I told him to prove it but he never did show me any proof. This was over at www.avsforum.com I wished now that I would of gotten a 3rd RB 61 for a center channel instead of the RC 10. They were about the same size and the wife wasn't keen on the idea of a shelf above the tv and modifing the new stand was out of the question.

Well I cleaned up the Smoker for the Fathers Day cookout and man was it a good one. I fixed a Brisket that was too big for one rack so I cut it in two and put it on 2 racks. Then later 3 racks of ribs with a dry rub, beer can chicken and finally smoked sausage. I used Jack Daniels wood chips and about 8 hours later a feast was had by all. The hard part drinking only half a beer for the chicken stand at 9am. Did anyone ever venture to this site and list serve? Sorry I have heard of them but I needed something I could get locally so I bought a propane one from Wally World that I put wood chunks in. I have recently started using Jack Daniels work chips in mine. I remember researching Traeger and people loved them.
