  1. The ps3 is a 1.3 HDMI blu ray player and also the best BLP in my opinion. I have the denon 2807 and it takes LPCM uncompressed audio. It is fully future compatible. As the previous poster said, you don't really need 1.3. Anythind 1.2 or 1.1 will be able to take uncompressed LPCM over hdmi. The Pioneer elites have some bass management problems as well as LFE problems. Check the boards over at AVS for long threads regarding this. The denon's seem to work great out of the box. I love mine. The 2807 can be had for about 700-800 bucks now brand new from onecallcell.com and jr.com both are authorized resellers but you need to call and ask for that price to get it.
  2. Thats not really an option for me. Any other suggestions. You can use the link in my sig to see pictures of my setup. Hopefully my tv won't be in front of a window when I move to a house next year.
  3. I have 2 x RF-82s for fronts, 1 x RC-62 for center. I have a Sony 60" XBR2 Rear Projection LCD. It is quite large. It sits on a 23" high TV stand made for 60" DLP/LCDs. There are 2 shelves on this stand which contains my equipment and I put the center channel on the highest shelf. That puts my center channel at about knee level or foot level depending or not if we are reclined. I also have a coffee table in the living room obstructing the sound. What do you guys do? Do you make some kind of shelf above the tv and aim the center downwards?
  4. I like the RB61. it is front ported as well.
  5. Wow you are purchasing the exact system I own. I have a denon 2807 reciever, RF82s, RC62, RS52s, and RB61s for rear Surrounds along with a 3.3 HSU. I think this setup is perfect. If you can afford it I would get the RC64. You can never go wrong and sometimes(although not often) I find the center speaker lacking(althouth I have been meaning to run it about 1 db hot). The RB61s match just fine with the entire system as rear surrounds. I would not go with WDST speakers for rear surrounds. The RS52s are neither bipoles or dipoles. They are proprietary Wide Dispersion Surround Technology that Klipsch uses. I have tried them as rear surrounds and like the direct much better. If you want to see my setup go here. I have pics. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10823268#post10823268
  6. I dont understand why people are buying HD DVD players when only one studio releases movies on HD DVD with that likely to change at the end of the year/early next year....
  7. Thanks! My wife and I thought so too when we picked it out a couple months ago. We did what we could for an apartment.
  8. The TV does not overheat. Its decieving but its pretty far away from the window and the blinds take care of it. There is at least a foot behind the speakers to the wall. The rug is from Ashley's home furniture. You can probably purchase it online through there website or call a store and since they sell it via a 3rd party and ups.
  9. all comments, suggestions, questions welcome!!!!
  10. Finally completed my home theater!!! Just wanted to show it off!
  11. I am running mine on a denon 2807 and it is AWESOME. rf82s x 2 rc62 rs52 x 2 rb61 x 2 hsu vtf3 mk3
  12. Several months ago i wanted to update all my Klipsch. I was not willing to pay retail. I looked on ebay and took a chance on AVB Direct. My ebay user ID is milwcompguru and you can verify my feedback on several occasions. Since January I have purchased a pair of RF-82 Floorstanders for 919.98 SHIPPED in black. A pair of RB-62 bookshelfves for 364.98 SHIPPED in black. And like you the RC-62 for a great price. There was some delay on the RC62. But it was entirely fedex loosing the package. THey did finally find it and sent it. I can say that all sets of speakers I have purchased were brand new, sealed, original products with no defects whatsoever. They have been very professional and customer service oriented as well. (I am crazy about tracking numbers and estimated ship dates and they responded well to all inquiries). I recently learned that abt electronics and jr.com both are authorized dealers and had the rf-82 for 750/pair shipped and no tax. They offered free shipping and they are authorized so you get the warranty. AVB Direct is good. Check around though at those 2 other stores as they are authorized resellers. (You must call and say you were referred to get special pricing not listed on their web site)
  13. I love klipsch but previous poster is right. You can get a MUCh better sub from SVS or HSU. Personally I have heard a few SVS subs and HSU subs and I enjoy the VTF3 Mark 3 by HSU. Many times you can get it for 650 if you ask as well and this sub will blow your mind compared to your dads sub. its a 12" driver. http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html You can't go wrong with either SVS or HSU though. Both offer amazing subs and great prices and customer service.
  14. I've been playing with this and I just cannot reproduce this on blu ray or standard dvds. I only get this slight cracking in certain frequences on BURNED dvds. I think it just may be the source material.
  15. I just never would have believed my woofer would be bottoming out on the rc-62. i'll try that tonight. I did have it set to large with xover at 60hz.
  16. maybe crackling is a bad word. Kind of like distortion. I have brand new banana plugs on brand new 14AWG speaker wire. No loose connections. It only happens at certain volumes and frequences... I dunno maybe it is just the source material..... I am just curious because I just got the rc-62 not long ago and the screwes were loose on the speaker. I had to tighten them back up.
  17. ALl my speakers are being powered by a denon 2807 125 watts/chan. Its a few months old.
  18. HDDVD is going bye bye pretty much at the end of this year so why worry about HDDVD add ons?
  19. I noticed that at high volumes my center channel has a bit of crackling at certain spots in a movie. I'm trying to figure out if it is just the source material or if something is wrong with the horn on my RC-62 center channel. In War of the Worlds at the emergence scene when the thing blasts this really loud horn sound there is a faint crackling that I can hear. I've also noticed it with other things too. Its seems to be reproducable during certain sounds in movies. What does a bad horn sound like? Any ideas?
  20. @kelA I bought the RF-82s without hearing them after owning the RF-3s for 7 years. They are probably not broken in yet and I still really really like the RF-82s. They seem more powerful all around and definately have more bass. They are a bit larger though than the RF3s. I think it was worth the upgrade personally. You can probably get around 300-400 for your RF3s to.
  21. I have RF-82, RC-62, RS 52s, and RB61s. I could not be happier. I used to have an RF3 system a few months ago. I think RF82 system is definately the sweet spot in cost/performance.
  22. I'd say if you have a wide screen hdtv 36" or larger the answer is a resounding YES!!! 100000x YES. The best upconverting DVD players are the OPPO players. You can buy them on amazon.com Search for OPPO. They have the furujda(spelling?) scaler chip which is like the best scaling chip out there. There is 2 models one for 149 for 720p/1080i and a 239 black model for 1080p upscaling. the difference on my 60" sony xbr2 from a regular dvd player to the 149 oppo is night and day. I only wish I would have sprung for the 239 model. You might not have heard of OPPO but they are by far an amazing company with one of the best upscaling dvd players out there. Won tons of awards. FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Do some searches. Check AVS forums for confirmation. Make sure to use component or hdmi cables for the connection.
  23. Aren't RF7s going for 1100 on ebay with warranty new?
