  1. Here is one suggestion. Build a wood riser a little wider than the LCD TV stand and place the center inside or in front of it. Or just get one of these. http://www.hootjudkins.com/products.php?pid=1836&detail=true If the sides of the riser are not tall enough, have the guy build it taller to accomodate the RC-52. http://cdrackem.com/wotetvtvriwi.html Order this one raw(unstained/painted) and make it color of TV stand. 2. Usmcsoldriver, Truthfully, I don't see how a 17.6 pound Sony HT receiver can push your RF-7's at moderate levels let alone at loud levels. While the RF-7's don't "require" an amp with high power, they do need high current which your Sony will not provide. While I am not knocking the Sony brand, their non ES line receivers just won't cut the mustard with low impedence speakers. I would suggest you sell the Sony and get a mid priced receiver with preouts and add a high current amp to the mix. On the used market, there are many good deals out there to find. Here are a couple of examples. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1282055620&/B-K-Reference-4420-225w-X-2 http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?miscrcvr&1281622410&/Marantz-SR7002-thx-select2-dol Bill
  3. Sarge1976, Welcome to the forum. It seems like one or two things are happening. You have a defective RC-64 or you do not have it set properly. Do you have the center channel on your receiver set to large or small? What is your center crossover set to? I have my RC-64 set one decibal louder than my RF-63's to compensate for the difference in sensitivity. Did you have the XPA-3 hooked up to your RC-52? If not, maybe the center channel on the amp has an issue. The RC-64 is the best sounding center channel I have ever heard. It could double as a small tower speaker if you wanted to. Bill
  4. Another picture of Salamander stand. Bill
  5. I know a guy who has a pair of these. They are built rock sturdy and you can configure any way you want. The natural cherry wood is beautiful(also in walnut and black). Wrought Iron with real wood. Unlimited adjustability. http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SMA5&variation=CHE Bill
  6. You might want to try for the XW-500d. It specs very close to the RSW-10d. Bill
  7. Both of these deals are pretty good but I would lean toward the RS-52's. With that said, try www.6ave.com first and see if you can do better with the "Name Your Price" promo going on right now. Edit: You may have already done that. Bill
  8. From the looks of your settings, Audyssey didn't seem to come close to the "correct" settings. I would try setting your towers at 60Hz, center at 90hz and your surrounds at 90Hz. Did Audyssy set any of the speakers to FULL BAND? If so, I would take them off of full band and try the numbers I suggested. Even though many tower speakers are considered full range(large), the WF-35's just don't quite make it down low enough. Let your sub handle most of the lower band and that will leave more receiver wattage to handle the rest. Try setting your LFE channel to 120Hz. Don't let the settings I suggested be the end all, just let them be a good starting point. Bill
  9. Kevin, That is wonderful news. If you catch it early, prostate cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer. Answered prayers are faith building. God Bless, Bill
  10. NewbieRob, Welcome to the forum. Well you have some things to ponder. If you were matching the RC-52 and RF-82's(as Best Buy did), I would say absolutely not. With the RF-62/RC-52 combo, the timbre difference is minimal in comparison. With that said, get the bigger towers, they will fill the room with sound much better. JMO. Bill
  11. Many people who contemplate suicide feel like they don't have any control of anything in their life. With suicide they feel they have complete control. I am deeply sorry for your loss. We may not always know what is hurting our love ones but we can often tell them we love them. Bill
  12. Brad, After getting used to the Reference series and the detailed highs, it was a no brainer when I wanted an upgrade for my Forte's. To me, much more detailed and cleaner highs. Bill
  13. Wes, Are you feeling the Florida love? Bill
  14. Bushwesl, Welcome to the forum. First off I would say you definitely scored.[Y] Good thought selling the RC-52 and getting an RC-62. With the exception of the ES line, your are right to say Sony isn't most on the forums first choice when it comes to receivers/amplification. They are much better known for their TV's, PS3's,BD players, etc. Though I do think you will find a few fans of the ES line here. Without any first hand experience with Sony receivers(except for a vintage piece I have for sale), I think the two you are looking at should work just fine. If you feel the power is not enough after some time, ad a high current outboard amp to give it some clean power and headroom. Bill
  15. I will have to agree with BluBitRates. For around the same price you can get the Onkyo TX-SR707 which does have pre-outs for adding some more power in the future. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/clearance/538806349/onkyo-txsr707b Bill
  16. Drhowarddrfine, Welcome to the forum. I bought one of these for my Onkyo receiver and it lowered the temp. 15 to 20 degrees Farenheight. It is only .511 inches tall. Fan is placed on top of receiver and the hot air is sucked up and expelled to the sides. Simple operation. Very effective. http://www.buyextras.com/evavcoblfanf.html Bill
  17. Superedge88, Thanks for the advice. I never looked at it that way. I will try it out and listen for the difference. Bill
  18. Mistermoravec, Your Onkyo will probably look similar to this: Speaker Conf Subwoofer Yes Front ??HZ Center ??Hz Surround ??Hz Surr Back None LPF of LFE ??HZ If you set your fronts below 40HZ it will automatically set the fronts to Full Band(large). I set my speakers to small(full band) and each crossover is set 5hz to 20hz over the lowest frequency response of that speaker. For example my RF-63's lowest FS is 30Hz so I set them to 50Hz, RC-64 goes down to 62hz so I set it to 70hz. I set my LFE(.1) channel to 80hz. This is the settings that I have decided sounds best to me. Room acoustics, amplification and other factors will play into determining your own settings. Bill
  19. I will have to agree with all replies. A good sub will make a difference and take some of the burden off of the 606's amps. For now, set your receivers crossovers at 90 or 100 for all channels and set your speakers to small and you should feel and hear a difference until you do a sub upgrade. The more low end power being sent to the sub will free up some wattage for the rest of your speakers. Bill
  20. Bohvey, Welcome to the froum. I would suggest you at least consider the RC-62. While the RC-52 is fine for most applications, the RC-62 will match better with most Klipsch Ref.speakers(future upgrade to join the madness). With the RC-52, I think you are limited with your upgrades to the RF-52 or RF-62. Anything above that(RB-81,RF-82,) you should get at least the RC-62 to better voice match. With the RF-63/83, the RC-64 is recommended. One good rule is to get the best center channel you can afford. Be patient and save the $$$ to accomplish that goal. Bill
  21. Your 885 as well as the 886 and the Integra pre/pros are often praised by expert reviewers and consumers. Unless the Onkyo has technical/operational issues, I doubt that is where your link is missing. On the other hand there are better prepros out there but you will pay more $$$ for them. Bill
  22. Welcome to the forum. Get this amp and be done with it. Loads of current(75 amps peak to peak) to get those woofers going. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1279306469&/B-K-Reference-200.7-black-powe Or maybe this one. Don't be fooled by the RMS wattage. Look at the dynamic wattage. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1278623164&/Nad-T-975-7-x-140-wpc-factory- Bill
  23. While I have no experience with a B&K/RF-7 combo, my B&K/RF-63 combo is just fantastic. To tell you the truth, upgrading from just a receiver to the amp was night and day. What really changed my system(for the better) was upgrading my digital source to a higher end unit. A good transport and DAC or a high end CD or DVD player will surely aid in obtaining that clarity and soundstage you are seeking. Don't sell your B&K short before you explore other areas. The B&K 200.7 is a very high current amp with a neutral/warm sound that will tame the RF-7's some. If the starting point is of better quality it should only be enhanced by the amplification. Just my thoughts, Bill
  24. John, What is your budget, breaking it down to components, speakers, sub? Are you looking for towers, bookshelves, or flat panel TV friendly speakers? Used or new? Spell it out for us. Bill
  25. FYI, component cables will pass hi def signals but is limited to 720P or 1080i(which is all SAT/CBL will broadcast at this time). Then run an HDMI cable from SAT/CBL to your TV using it for video and audio or HDMI plus any audio cables. Bill
