  1. I have this one. It keeps my Onkyo receiver 15 to 20 degrees cooler than without one. Inexpensive, adjustable speed, quiet on low. Just plug into your switched outlet on your Marantz. If this one doesn't float your boat, there are many others to choose from for cheap. http://www.buyextras.com/evavcoblfanf.html Bill
  2. jhoak, I want to eventually get a good 2 channel preamp with a HT pass-thru. I have a good idea what the concept is but this should explain it better. http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?bhome&1164256635 Bill
  3. Hey Youthman, My Forte's are not part of the true "Heritage" line, but you are welcome to come over to Kissimmee and take a listen some time. So far, they have been powered by my Onkyo/B&K combo, a Luxman R-115 receiver, and a Marantz 2252b receiver. The Marantz/Forte' marriage clearly sounds the best to my ears. Bill
  4. I want to sell them not because I don't like them, they sound great. I need the $$$ to by a matching Denon PRA-1000 preamp and a Denon TU-767 or TU-800 tuner to go with my newly aquired POA-1000 amp and CDC-1500 CD player. This will complete my 2 channel system for my family room. I want to get more out of my RF-63's for 2 channel that the Onkyo/B&K combo can't provide. Even though the Onkyo receiver is great for HT, when it comes to stereo music, it seems to hamper the potential of the B&K. Bill
  5. Hey Jay, Welcome to the forum. What is your budget for an amp? Subwoofer? If you are happy with B&K, look at these. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1256827613&/B-K-7250-series-II-5x200wpc-(N http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1257456123&/B-K-7250------200x5-price-drop Here is another idea. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?intamult&1258848335&/Sunfire-Tgr3-Ht-Receiver-w/-7x Bill
  6. Mike, If you can make this happen, send me a reminder email or PM. I would be honored to hang with a pack of Klipshizoids. I am only a hop onto the 417 away. willland@hotmail.com Thanks, Bill
  7. Welcome to the forum. If you want the most out of a system, seperates are the only way to go. For 2 channel, monoblocks are the preferred choice of audiophiles(which I am not). New to the game three years ago. Your RF-7's can dip down into low impedence(2-3 ohms) in which a high current amp would be best. Here are a couple of suggestions: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1258066475&/B-K-Monoblock-Reference-200.1- http://www.6ave.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=MARSR8002-OPN As I said above, seperates are the best choice. I am suggesting the Marantz receiver because to many, it's preamp section bests most receivers on the market and rivals many dedicated preamps and also gives you the added flexibility of home theater(5.1 or 7.1) applications if you choose.
  8. I read my post a few minutes ago and realized it sounded a little odd. I usually proofread/edit before posting. This one slipped by. Bill
  9. Thanks guys for all of your replies. I am afraid the NAD setup will sound too good with my Forte's. If it does, I might have a hard time selling the NAD's. Bill
  10. Here is an easier way to search C-List without going to each city. Just type in zip code and subject(Klipsch) and all C-list adds within 250 miles.http://www.searchtempest.com/ Bill PS My sister and her family and my best friend live in Alpharetta.
  11. I just got back from browsing the local SA in Kissimmee and found a nice DCD-1500 for $19.99. No brainer. Brought home and hooked it up to my Marantz 2252b and Forte's and boy was I in for a surprise. A 23 year old cd player that sounds awesome and doesn't skip and jumps from track to track without a hint of hesitation. I understand that this player was one of the one's to have in the 80's. I can see(hear) why. Bill
  12. I just picked up a little vintage(80's)NAD system today I found on C-list: 2150 stereo amp(50w/ch), 1020 stereo preamp, 4125 tuner. Seller threw in a pair of unused Acoustic Research AR S-20 bookshelf speakers. This system sounds sweet. I have not hooked to any of my Klipsch yet but might see what it sounds like with my Forte's. Does anyone have experience with these NAD components? From what I have read the preamp's phono section is high quality. I really bought these to turn around and sell them. Bill
  13. Morphine 10, Disregard my advice about the receiver in C-list ad. Not an HDMI receiver. Sorry about that. I sent you an email. Bill
  14. Welcome to the forum. I live in Kissimmee and would be willing to help you set up your system on Sunday(if my wife doesn't mind). I would suggest you get a receiver with hdmi connections. I found this on C-list and emailed the seller. Waiting for his/her response. If working properly this is a good deal. http://orlando.craigslist.org/ele/1379901197.html Send me a pm with phone# if interested in my help. Bill
  15. I don't think you can go wrong with this at all. Now that LCD's are dominating the market, plasma deals are definitely out there. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9236338&type=product&id=1218064404632 Bill
  16. I have a 200w/ch B&K Ref 4430 pushing my RF-63's and RC-64. I am using 14gauge speaker wire with a 20 foot run. When I had only my 100w/ch Onkyo receiver powering my 63's, the sound was good. When I added the B&K to my system, the difference was literally night and day. Not only more headroom but detail in every way. Bill
  17. Thanks for uploading a picture for me. The one I am considering is black with rosewood sides. The seller emailed me pictures that I tried to post but could not get it to work. I have not listened to it yet. The seller lives way on the other side of Orlando about 40 miles away. If he still has not sold it by Saturday I hope to be able to take a look and listen. Bill
  18. I have an opportunity to buy what seems like a very nice Denon POA-1500 amp offered on C-list. The seller wants $235.00 OBO. Any thoughts, opinions, etc. I am considering hooking it up to the stereo pre-outs from my Marantz 2252b to power my Forte's. Maybe pair it with my Luxman R-115 to drive the Forte's. What do you guys think? Bill
  19. I had the RC-62 with a pair of RF-63's for a little over a year. I felt that they sounded fine together. Then I took advantage of 6ave.com's "name your price" promotion and plugged in $575.00. Five minutes later and an email from 6ave accepting my offer. $575.00 delivered with no sales tax from an authorized Klipsch dealer. What a difference in every way. I did do an A-B comparison and the 64 won hands down. Now I am not saying the 62 is a dud by any means, I am just emphasizing that the 64 is definitely an upgrade. Bill PS 6ave is currently having another "name your price" promotion this Labor Day weekend.
  20. I don't have any experience with your combination but my Marantz 2252b receiver rocks my Forte's with authority. If 52 clean watts will open up the Forte's, I am sure your a 60 watt Marantz amp will do the same for the Cornwalls. Just my opinion. Bill
  21. Welcome to the forum. Nice system. A pair of used RS-42's might do the trick. I am using a pair of RSX-4's as surrounds with my RF-63's and RC-64. Though not the perfect match, they do work quite well. I do think you should stay in the ref. line if possible. Maybe even try a pair of RSX-5's if you can find them. Here is a good deal from an authorized dealer. http://www.wwstereo.com/#/ecommerce/store/Speakers/33/144911// http://www.wwstereo.com/#/ecommerce/store/Speakers/33/144920/9_1_40_8__0_0_0_-1/ Post your location so members can help you find something in your area. Bill
  22. It is always better to have as seamless front soundstage(L-C-R) as possible. The C-3 is the best match for your F-3 towers. The QIII's are the smallest surrounds in the Synergy line. Bill
  23. Here you go. Great deal. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/548208218/klipsch-c3 Bill
  24. BC, If you are not quite sure 200w/channel will be enough, here is something interesting. Look at this review of the XPA-2. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/power-amplifiers/496.html?task=view&start=3 "Power output at 8 ohms is very solid up to 300 watts (0.04% THD+N), before a rapid rise to clipping (1% THD+N) at 340 watts. At 4 ohms, output reached 400 watts (0.07% THD+N) before the rise to clipping at 480 watts. No question, the XPA-2 will really put out some juice." If Emotiva's power specs for the XPA-2 is 200w/channel and the amp tests at 300w/channel, I am sure the XPA-3 also tests way above mfr specs. Bill
  25. I understand your concern but an outboard amp is one of if not the most reliable piece of audio equipment you will have. An amp takes a signal from a receiver/processor and amplifies it and sends it out through your speakers as sound. That's it. No moving parts,no processors inside. I bought my one owner 10 year old B&K for $100.00. I sent it to the shop for a good checkup and cleaning($90.00) and it runs cool and quiet and has transformed my system. I am not saying that you should by from the used market but you can find many like new pieces out there for a fraction of the cost of new. Bill
