With the money saved(50--60% less than the THX system) you could really buy a quality preamp/amp, projector/screen, or HT furniture or all. I have the RF-63's in my family room(16ft x 30ft with 12ft ceiling) and my system really rocks the room. Bill

Good idea. Don't mix, especially with Bose. I take that back. Go ahead and mix the Klipsch and Bose and you will see what a great choice you made in going with Klipsch. As a matter of fact, the RF-63's will probably drown out the Bose completely. Couldn't hurt(except maybe your ears). Bill

Unhook all Bose, run 2-channel with the RF-63's, put in favorite cd, and enjoy. Bill

Beacon, It is good that you decided to reply back and get some dialogue going. In theory, I don't think you did anything wrong. What you could have done was to let Vann's give you a refund and send back the defective one to them. Then you could find another authorized retailor and purchase from them. Klipsch chooses authorized dealers carefully considering they are the ones that are representing their products on the retail level. Klipsch doesn't normally ship products directly to the customer unless it is a special circumstance like your situation. With that said, take Bill H.'s advice and contact Amy Unger @ Klipsch, she may be able to help your situation. Bill

Great deal. I say jump on it. I am not sure what model receivers you are speaking but would say as long as you have clean wattage you should be fine. As far as the 82's for stereo without sub, they can hold their own alone but a sub would complement them very well. Bill

If you can afford either setup, go with the RF-63's and the RC-64. The difference going from the RF-35's/RC-35 combo to the RF-82's/RC-35 is a suttle change. Where as the RF-35/RC-35 combo to the RF-63/RC-64 is a dramatic change. Bill

I don't think you will have a problem using the RF-35's as surrounds. It is most important to have your front soundstage(63-64-63) timber matched. The 35's would be a better fit as rear surrounds with maybe the RS-62's on the sides if you are considering 7.1. If you are going 5.1, place the 35's to the sides and slightly behind the seating position. With this setup, your system will sound great. Bill

Welcome to the forum. As you probably know, the RF-82 is the replacement for the RF-35. Klipsch was successful in upgrading the crossovers and deepening the cabinet to get a more refined and less bright speaker with the RF-82. With the RF-82, you should notice an improvement, with the RF-63, you will see an improvement. I hope the deals you are getting are from authorized vendors, both prices are really good. Bill

First and foremost, it is your hard earned $$$ to spend. I personally think the RF-63's will be totally offended if you decide to use them as rear surrounds only, considering there is only a handfull of movies recorded in 7.1. Now if most of the use of your system will be music in "all channel stereo", then I would say go for it. With a pair of 83's up front and 63's in back, you definitely would have one heck of a soundstage. For now keep the 63's as fronts,get some rs-62's as side surrounds and listen. Bill

Hey do yourself a big favor. Give those spanking brand new beautiful cherry RF-63's a chance to impress you as your main speakers. Don't discount them on account of others opinions(even though on this forum there are experts). Be very objective after you set them up properly and give a good listen. Only your ears can decide what sounds good. I would suggest for now, save your money and hold off on the 83's and use that money saved to buy a good sub and maybe a multichannel amp. Then decide if your system is lacking. Bill

As you can see from my profile, I have the RC-62 with the Rf-63's. I have not personally listened to the RC-64. With proper EQ and dB settings, I would say that the 62 will sound just fine with the 63's for most listeners. Being that I have not done an A/B comparison between the RF-63 sytem and th XF-48 sytem, I can not honestly give you my opinion. The XF-48's were designed with an onboard amp to give the listener a big sound with a lower profile while offering a more modern look. It looks like to me even if you placed the center(RC-64) on the bottom shelf, you would not have any room to tilt the speaker up to the listening position. Therefore you would not have any directional sound to the listeners ears. If you do choose to go with the larger reference line, I would highly suggest placing a shelf like Tommyboy has so you can accomodate the proper center channel to go with the Rf-63's. If still none of this will work, consider the XF-48 system, it might just meet all of your needs. As far as the RC-62 instead of the RC-64, they both stand 8" tall without the tilt stand extended. No sound difference between black ash and cherry cabinet. Now between the RF-82 and the Rf-63, I believe that the center channel(RC-64) will match better with Rf-63 being that they have matching tweeters(1.25in) and woofers(6.5 in). Bill

Welcome to the forum. Another convert to the fold. Is it possible to make the upper shelf the larger of the two(redrill bracket holes and adjust)? How about installing a shelf directly above the TV and pointing downward? As in the previous responce(from Tommyboy), the XL-23 will not be timber-matched to any of your choices unless you considered adding the XF48's as fronts and the XB-10's as surrounds. For what it's worth, the RF-63's are definitely the best choice(especially @ $1200.00/pair for cherry) of those you are considering but the RC-64 center that matches is a beast. I know you have somewhat of a delimma but many should chime in to help and prevent you from going back to BOSE. Bill

For $299.99 I would say yes. For what they are(compact speaker system) they are very dynamic. Put them up against any HTIB or B**E system and they will trump them every time. Perfect system for a small space like a bedroom or college dorm. Just make sure you get a sub to go with them. Bill

First and foremost, welcome to the forum. The only change I would immediately make with your setup is return the RC-52 and purchase the RC-62. A good friend of mine has a similar system and the RC-52 just does not keep up with the RF-82's. Your front soundstage should transition from left to right as seamless as possible. Second, consider changing the sub to an RW-12d or RSW-10d(if you want all Klipsch system). The RW-10d doesn't dip that much lower than the RF-82's(28hz vs 33hz). Ultimately the RF-83's are a better choice if your budget allows.
