  1. Imagine this...Here in Norway, all Bose products cost 50 % more than over in the US. It's insane!
  2. Hei guys! I'm just wondering if anyone have testet McIntosh MC275R(versjon IV w/o volummeter) with RF83? Ordering the RF83's in a couple of days. Think this is going to match well, but nice to hear someone who tried it first.
  3. Long time no see fellow klipschers. Just wanted to write an update. I bought the RT-10D, and i am very happy with it. I also upgraded to a very cool Onkyo CD-player. I also got my hands on Kimber Cable Monocle-X speakercables, and My Theatre damping mats. I am very happy with my set now, though i understand my room is a bit to small, and that concrete wall isent helping. So how is people doing? Everybody ok? That swine flu is not good... Let's hope it dosent spread uncontrollable, though i don't think that will happen at all... How is the financial crisis threating everybody?
  4. My thoughts are with you, Oldbuckster...
  5. I am borrowing an RT-10D now. Have placed it behind the left speaker. And i gotta say........ Wow! I have only played it an hour, and i am really amazed. It is like this is what i felt was lacking... It's really freaky. Can someone back me up here? Is it madness to have a sub with cornwalls? In my "defence" i can't play at full volume because i don't live alone in this house. So this really did the trick for me. Come on guys, i need some feedback.[]
  6. Congrats! Enjoy the sweet music flowing out of theese beauty's!
  7. @ edwinr: My mac is the 2008 versjon without the pot-meters. If it was the older one, i could have done that, but i bought this 3 months ago. @ Bryan1342: I mainly listen to original CDs. When i complain on this forum, it's never of an mp3 song. And if i burn a nice cd, i try to get the FLAC version. But as i wrote before, i have hooked up an iTube dock, and good mp3's sound ok! But only some, not all... Alot of crappy mp3s out there! But thanks for the tip.
  8. I have nothing agains british equipment, quite the contrary. But i have had some bad experience with some british and klipsch. I think some of the english gear is so correct, it's almost boring. But hey, i havent tried much english, so maby i am wrong. The new P3 with piano gloss, contains the TT-PSU. But this version of P3 is more expensive, of course. Got the price list today. Maby x-mas is coming early this year!
  9. Yeah, many hidden "pearls" around. And talking about sucky records... The new Metallica album is a disgrase. Not only to the band and genre, but to music! It's horrible! Right now i'm listening to John Mayer "Gravity". Not a trace of metal, but that album sounds like a million dollars through the cornwalls! Everyone should spin this album in their players.
  10. As i mention in my last post, i have been sniffin on vinyl. Have anyone any experience with this player on klipsch? It's english, so i'm a little skeptic, but only see nice review's on this piece. And now you can get it in delicious piano gloss. Rega P3
  11. Waiting for my cornwall cushions and my wallplates. Think they will change my sound quite a bit. Yeah, there are many crappy recordings... Thats just a fact we all got to live with. But there are some exeptions, like some Buckethead, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Symphony X, Porcupine Tree recordings. I hooked a iTube iPod dock onto my pre. And i got to say.... It's a long time since i have had so much fun listening to music. It's not that high-end sound, but some songs are really nice throught the iTube docking! Ahh... I wish i smoked cigares and drank wine.... I am considering of buying the Rega P3 24v. Think this is a nice piece?
  12. I totaly agree on "GIGO", but it's so bad sometimes, that when i turn it up a notch, it hurts my ears, because of the "harshness". I Talked to a soundtechnician, and he said that he is positive that my problem is the acoustics of my "room". So now i have ordred 2 absorbing acoustic plates to hang on the wall where the sound "bounces", and 8 "pillows" to have under my CW's. Really looking foreward to trying this things. @ Mallette: Hehe, well, what i meant was that i usaly listen to rock/hard rock/heavy metal/death metal 70-80 % of the time, but also other things.
  13. @ Bluesboy: I don't have the volume controlls... But thanks for the idea. @ GotHover: I think it's a bit of both. The gear and the room. @ speakerfritz: Thanks for the drawing. I'm problably stupid, but when you write "higher tap", do you mean an higher impedance? Like instead of the 8 ohm i got now, i go to 16? Or 4 for lowe? I took the liberty to draw my living room in paint. Pretty impressed by my drawing skills. I think maby some of the probleme is this. I don't have a carpet on the floor in front of the speakers. The McIntosh importer said that would be a nice idea, to lay 2 thick hairy carpets there, to absorb some of the sound.
  14. I can't sleep, i can't eat. Theese cornwall III's are killing me! I can't seem to get the sound right! I got my new McIntosh MC275, a Parasound 2100 pre-amp and a Roksan cd/dvd as a cd player. My problem isnt easy to explain, but i'll give it a go: I usaly listen to rock/hard rock/heavy metal/death metal, but also everything else, like pop, dance, classical and so on. Some tracks on some cd's sound amazing. Like Porcupine Tree's "Deadwing" is good. But my main problem is that i feel like i "lack" some frequencies! It's like this: I turn the volume up, and the high's are louder than the mid's. I lack some dynamic's and some midbass. The vocal's are amazing though, and can give me chills. The question is this: Is this because of my pre-amp? Some say that the "music" comes from the pre-amp. And my pre is an ok amp, but its far cheaper than my mac ofcourse. I have considerd 3 options: 1. Buy the McIntosh MCD301 and hook it up to my mc-275 and use the pre in the cd. Then buy the C2200 when i rob another bank. 2. Buy the McIntosh C2200, and hook my english Roksan cd/dvd to it. Then buy the MCD301 when i rob another bank. 3. Change to solid state McIntosh! Please help me... I'm going insane!
  15. No worryes! I talk with the repair guys, and it was problably a tube that wasent clicked on right. So now, it's ok. So i'm just waiting for my pre, and som money for a new cd-player. Either a Electrocompaniet, or Marantz.
  16. I think i have some problems with my mac! I get this "un-tuned FM cracle" sound on my right chanel. It's not the pr-amp, and its not the cables. Should i try to swap tube placements? I think it's either a tube, or the amp itself... And i got a pot-meter problem with my pre. Lucky me! []
  17. Thanks for the ideas guys! I allready hear improvement. So i will take the time and see. But a new propper cd-player is really needed, and i think the Marantz is really good. I'v heard that Marantz is really good with cd-players.
  18. Thank's Bill! It's my "wall of shame"! I know it's early in the break-in process, but here is my 2 cents...... I think they are very "airy" and nice. Where i work we have RF83 with Dynamic Precision and Electrocompaniet, and i like to compare my set to that. The RF83 have about 3 months playtime, so they have broken in nicely. The major differences between the two sets, besides the gear, is that the RF83's are very spread. 4-5 meters between them. The demoroom has abit strange acoustics, so they can perform better. But the RF83 are a real punch in the face with the Dynamic precision gear! Of course, the pre and power cost 75000 Norwegian kroners, i don't know what that will be in dollars, but i can imagine around 17.000-18.000 dollars. But my point is that the RF83 perform really good. Amazing bass and super-tight. The only draw-back, is what i like to call the "bottle-neck problem". Sometimes it sounds like 8 car's are trying to drive at an interstate where there is only room for 4 car's. That's a problem the CW's don't have. But there is someting... I can't put my finger on it. It seems like it's to hard, a little bit to light. When i listen to rock, like Porcupine Tree, alot sounds nice, but it's like there something missing. When there is alot happening, it's abit hard and light. Amazingly, it's not the same "punch" i get on the RF83!
  19. I think i'm gonna buy the Marantz SA-15 S1. Anyone got some experience with it?
  20. Oldbuckster: Yeah, i am going to cut away some wood in the corner, so i can get them a little more to the wall, and spread them more aswell. dtel: Yeah, i recon a month or two myself. I do think i have some acustic trouble in my appartment. The left speaker is 80cm away from the left wall, and the right speaker is 5 meters away from the right wall. Another example, is that when i sit and listen it's ok, but i think it lack some bass. When i stand up, i can feel and hear the bass more. Maby i'll move the gear to a better place, but then again, in that corner, there is a wood wall on the left, and a stone wall on the right. fenderbender: Thanks!
  21. Ah, thanks for the tip, Islander. Will fix that right away.
  22. FINALY! The Cornwall III arrived yesterday... It came in Walnut, and i liked alot! But i have a couple of questions. 1. How long "break-in" time does it take before CW's really sound amazing? My old RF-82 took about 2 months before it sounded much better. 2. My floor is abit un-even on the right speaker, so the foot-frame don't have 100 % contact with the floor. Will this reduce the bass performance? 3. I have new CW III, new Mac MC275, Roksan Kandy cd/dvd player, Parasound 2100 pre and monster cables. I think maby it lack some bass, and the high's can be "muddy" sometimes. Is this all because i need to get a really nice cd-player? The Roksan is gonne be replaced very soon, so don't worry. But i gotta say, it sound pretty amazing comming right out of the box!
  23. Thanks bliss53! That was very interesting.
