  1. Sorry about the request of the rear. I understand that. If possible just wanting to see a closer photo of the front detail. Get a idea where how you used the black detail. or how you trimmed etc.etc. If too much trouble I understand. []Great job I would just like to possibly copy some of your work. BadDad
  2. Could you drop in a few more detailed photos. Maybe, of the trim work with the tophats and the finished backs? Thanks BadDad
  3. Looks great! I have a couple of bass bins that I need finished. Think i"ll do something similar. Now if I could just find the motivation. BadDad
  4. If it came close to matching my 51, I'd have to rob the retirement fund. I'll send a PM
  5. Great job M. Sound was excellent. Weather was perfect. Who would think you would need a jacket, in July, in Indiana? Crowd was at least 1500 thinking maybe 2000, boy can Jennie sing. Everyone should hear her if given the chance. My better half enjoyed it also, but her feet got a little tired from standing all night. Enjoyed visiting with you. Hope you make it through your busy weekend. BadDad
  6. Where do you get tickets to hear her? I was thinking about taking the Misses.
  7. July 21st is a Tuesday. Hope Jennie's playing on the 17th
  8. I think in 50 and 51 they were doing both 2 and 3 way.I double checked mine was from Feb 1951. I bought my 51 last year from the son of the original owner. He passed away in the nursing room at 94 years young. The klipschorn was such a valued piece he took it with him to the nursing home. The caretakers told me how they had to always get on him to turn it down. He sure loved his classical music. If you ever want to part with that trusonic driver, Give me a shout. []
  9. Doctor says my heart couldn't take all the excitement. The 2 way is just fine[:'(]
  10. I have a 51 k-horn. January 1951.....2 way..... all original with a stephens driver and a jensen p15ll woofer. Sounds better in the midrange but with less top end than my 3-way khorn with aa crossovers. Use the 3 way for the right channel and the 2 way for the left. Together they both blend well with different crossovers and different midranges. I'm always toying with the idea of changing the 3 way to a 2 way. But I can't seem to find another Stephens midrange that is priced fair. My avatar is the backside of my 51 khorn. BadDad
  11. It's been a long time since listening to the stereo baldwin.... so I grabbed it and did a switchero for you. I just hooked up the stereo baldwin and left all the controls the same on the preamp. Only noticed a slightly smaller volume level with the stereo baldwin that was easily changed. Was using 6l6gc in the mono's and 6l6g's in the stereo, Maybe that was the difference? You won't notice the difference.... believe me.
  12. It's been awhile since listening to the stereo but I couldn't tell the difference. There's more headroom with the mono's but my ears give out before listening to music that loud. Just use good 6l6 tubes. Leave the chinese for take out dinner.
  13. I also have both the baldwin's in both the stereo version and the mono's. The stereo is sitting on the shelf for the future and or trade bait. Listening to three channels of Baldwin mono blocks. A cornwall center and two khorns for the side channels. Don't notice any difference except the wow factor with all the extra glowing tubes. The mono's also are running with a 6sl7 preamp tube, versus a couple of 12ax7's. The stereo amp will be easier on you pocketbook when feeding it tubes. Then again what do I know. I think I like the sound of my two way klipschorn better than the 3 way khorn with all the modern parts. Good luck. The baldwins are a great amp for the money or for those who don't care about all the chrome on their amps.
  14. I believe you're right I'm picking up a new 42" plasma today or tomorrow. Accessories need to be Panasonic as far as I understand.
  15. I'm a little biased in my thinking but try looking at a used Meridian 568.2 Save some coin and still have a great surround processor. I have an older 561 and it havs served me well for over 10 years. Meridian's gear is very pricey when bought new sometimes upwards of 20K for some of the new units but they're not that much of an improvement for the price. The 568.2 still has DTS, 7.1 runs at 96khz..... champange taste at a beer budget. BadDad
  16. will buy from you... quick chance to double your money?
  17. Saw Radiohead last Sunday night in Indianapolis with the wife. Also took future son-in-law and our 21 year old son. Great show. Spent the night in the front stage pit with a bunch of youngsters. Had at least 25 years on most of them. This was only their second show ever in Indianapolis. We also saw them open for R.E.M. 13 years ago at the same venue.
  18. It was suggested to me to use FedEx for easier claim payments.( Thanks HarryO). Recently I shipped a Grundig Majestic Radio that was sent without my best packing effort. I could have done better and felt a little rushed. But I used peanuts and assorted styrofoam. to ship and it was damaged. Looked like it was dropped on the corner and shattered. I should stick to shipping tubes. The buyer was very upset and I immediatly issueded a refund with shipping.included. Called fedex and expected nproblems. Easy process, only spent 5 minutes on the phone. Within a week I got a check for merchandise and shipping. Small claim but didn't have to send pictures , or claim form, or jump through hoops. FedEx earned a customer that day. BadDad
  19. Just received a call from Klipsch....Sold to H.A. Keep on January 26, 1951. The khorn is also made of mahogany[Y]
  20. Fini, Not planning on changing anything on the speaker. If I add a tweeter or change the crossover it will set on top in another box. To tell the truth it sounds pretty good now. Wife had a great time and was very supportive throughout. That wood horn and Stephens has great range just missing a little brightness on the top end. Hearing more depth in the midrange and the bass kicks a@@.
  21. Not just signed, but also tested by PWK!!!! Way uber cool! That's a mighty fine looking speaker for being over 50 years old. Obviously very well loved and cared for. I'd play some of the owners favorite music every now and then.... I was planning on asking about what music he listened to but when picked up you could tell that it was very hard on the son. Letting go something that was so dear to his father. I'm sure he had lots of childhood memories of the Khorn. I'm planning to ask both him and his sister soon about their fathers favorite listening habits. Giving them a little time off for now.
