  1. I wouldn't think so. It would just be functioning as a sealed enclosure instead of a ported one.
  2. Several have chosen to use a TV Wall Mount to mount the RC-7 or RC-64 to the wall due to it's large weight. One benefit of the TV Wall Mount is that you can angle it to your liking. Maybe something like this. Searchthe forum for wall mount rc 64 or wall mount rc 7
  3. Wow, no wonder they call it Green Glue. It takes a lot of "green" to pay for the amount of tubes he would need. By my estimation (if he has 10 foot ceilings) it would cost him $2839.68 to put Green Glue on all four walls, ceiling and floor.
  4. EM3 is correct. I could easily recommend the RF-83 or RF-7 package because I have auditioned both and they both sound amazing. To some, those are huge speakers. There are many in the forums that have had the privelege of either listening to or actually owning some of the Heritage line (Cornwalls, Klipschorns etc) and they would swear by them. Each speaker set has a different sound to them. And what sounds "awesome" to you might sound harsh to someone else. In the world of speakers, bigger is usually better so if you can purchase towers as opposed to bookshelf or inwall speakers, that would be best.
  5. I just found the Onkyo TX-SR805 for $695.00 and thought that was a good price for anyone looking at this model. But when I began looking around, most stores are dropping their price on it. That seems quick for prices to start dropping on it. Any ideas why? BTW, you can use coupon CAT6OFF = $653 with free shipping on the above site mentioned. Found out about it on Slick Deals.
  6. What receiver do you have the Outlaw hooked up to?
  7. I have never A/B the two speakers but with the KV-3 has 6.5 inch drivers over the 5.25 inch drivers in the KV-2, they have a lower Frequency Response plus they also have a 95db sensitivity as opposed to a 93db sensitivity which means they are more efficient and it will take less power to push them. The only problem is that if you are using the KG 1.5, Klipsch recommends using the KV-2 to match the timbre. The KV-3 matches the KG 2.5. Hope this helps.
  8. TheEAR is correct about the sub. When I worked at Circuit City a few years ago, we kept blowing the Polk sub. It just couldn't handle the high demands of a good 5.1 movie. At that time, the Velodyne was clearly the sub of choice. It walked circles around the Polk.
  9. This KV-3 on Ebay was used as a rear center.
  10. Yes, a center channel speaker can be used for your rear center. Some people have even mentioned that they would love to have three RC-64's for their front three speakers. I have also heard of people using 5 or 7 RF-7's. The key is having the timbre match for each speaker. Keeping the speakers in the same line that they were designed for works best.
  11. I am a previous owner of Polk RT800 towers, CS300 center and F/X500 rears. I can tell you that in my opinion, the Polks do not come close to the Klipsch line of speakers. I'm a Klipsch convert....and will never go back. []
  12. My bad...I thought it was New In Box, but after re-looking at his auction, it says "Speaker in Box". I was thinking if you can get a KV-3 brand new for $90.00, that would be a steal! But I see it is definitely used and he did increase his price from $90 - $130. $82 for a KV-2 seems reasonable. I think it will serve you well with the rest of your setup. Are you using a sub in your setup?
  13. My assumption would be yes, it is Magnetically Shielded but I do not know that for certain. I thought you would jump on that KV-3 on Ebay. He had a buy it now for $89.00 but I see that he has bumped it up to $129.00. It is New in the Box. Can you get a KV-2 that much cheaper?
  14. I have no idea. Maybe someone in the forum can enlighten us on their purpose.
  15. This guy apparently doesn't know what he has. Great Buy it Now price for a NIB KV-3. Mine is used and I would not sell it for that price.
  16. I am not familiar with the "screw heads" that you are referring to other than what is shown below. My KV-3 is setup the same way. It is there to hold the binding post housing and the pole that is used to adjust the angle of the center channel. Can you provide a link to the image you are referring to?
  17. THX website shows a 5.1 Layout and a 7.1 Layout to give you a visual of how the speakers are recommended to be setup. The 5.1 Layout shows two rear speakers on the side walls. Many in the forums suggest using two speakers on the back wall facing towards the front of the room. In your case, the rear speakers would be placed slightly behind the listening area downwards. The Dolby Website has diagrams as well. Audioholics has some good articles for home theater as well. I just watched the video of Installing Surround Sound Speakers. I have not ran rear speakers in the current house that we are renting because I did not want to go under the carpet with the speaker wires. The video shows you some cool tips on how to install it through the attic and actually run the wire down the walls.
  18. You are right. Technology has changed a lot over the past 10 years. I do not see any info on the KSS-3 subwoofer on the Klipsch discontinued products but I did find a Rebel 7 speaker set that has a subwoofer with it. Is this what you have? I am not unsure what kind of connection options you have with that particular sub so let me ask a few questions. Does your Yamaha have a subwoofer output on the back? Does your Subwoofer have an rca input? If so, I would come straight out of the Receiver into the Sub with a subwoofer cable. What is the model number of your Yamaha receiver? Is the Yamaha Dolby Digital or Dolby Prologic? If it is Prologic, I would HIGHLY suggest at least stepping up to a Dolby Digital Receiver. You get a lot of benefits there (true 5.1 sounds, full range in the rears, dedicated sound to each speaker and sub etc). I picked up a nice used HK Dolby Digital Receiver for $100.00. If you have a 5.1 receiver, you will be able to go directly from the receiver to each individual speaker. This is the best method to use to connect your speakers. Most subwoofers have speaker inputs on the back. It is possible to come out of your receiver to the sub, then out of the sub to the front speakers. This basically uses the subwoofers crossover to remove most of the bass from the front speakers. I would not suggest connecting your speakers through your sub unless you have to. I have no recommendations on in-ceiling speakers except don't get them. [] I have never been fond of in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. To me it sounds unnatural to have sound coming down from the ceiling. IMO, you will get a more fulfilling sound in a good set of regular speakers. I'm no audiophile by any means so take my advice for what it is worth (possibly nothing). [] There are many people in the Klipsch forums that can provide you with much more insight than I can but hope it helps anyways. No questions are dumb. We are all learning...just at different stages.
  19. Welcome to the forums! I am not familiar with the sound of your current speakers but in looking at the KSS1, I think there are several speakers that would be quite an improvement over it. RB-61, RB-51 or even some older model bookshelves like the RB-75 or the RB-5. With a 4" woofer, the KSS1 doesn't push out much in the bottom end. Of course, it depends on your budget, whether or not you could go to a tower speaker etc. Many factors there. In regards to the question about the speakers on your TV, turn them off. Use the Klipsch speakers only.
  20. Hey Mud, here is a KV-3 for less than what I am asking for mine that you might be interested in. Michael
  21. My KV-3 is black. It is in excellent condition. I just looked the speaker over and the speaker grill is flawless, no holes, tears or frays. The rear has one very tiny chip on the round corner (if that makes sense). The foot on the back that is used to adjust the angle of the speaker is in perfect order. The speaker is in perfect working order and sounds great. To be honest, I'm not sure what I would want for it. I've had not gotten to the point of wanting to sell it yet. Anyone have any idea what it is worth?
  22. A KV-3 was just posted for sale here. Whether we work out something or you buy that one, looks like you will be able to get setup with a matching speaker to your setup. Not sure what color you are looking for, mine is black and his is Medium Oak. I have pics of my setup here.
  23. I actually saw that two days ago. It's definitely more than what I want to pay for a temporary setup. I know it will be awhile before we build our house with a dedicated theater room but I'm not sure how much I want to invest into the 3.1 system (no rear speakers) that I have now. I just now noticed that the KV-3 doesn't even match with my front speakers. LOL. The KV-4 has the almost the same drivers as the CF-2's that I have. Apparently the KV-3 goes with the KG speakers. I guess it would depend on what Mud wants for the KV-3 and what I can get the KV-4 from Audiogon. Mud, let me know what you are willing to offer and I'll check with the guy on Audiogon.
  24. Yeah, I have been watching the KV's on ebay as well. Just trying to see what they are going for in case I get the opportunity and finances to upgrade to the RC-64. From my time here on the forum, most of the folks here really love their Klipsch and seem to take pride in them so I have the same feelings as you as far as preferring to buy from a forum member first if possible. I haven't seen any KV-4's to buy. I have a feeling it will be hard to come by. I wouldn't mind upgrading to it though if one came available for the right price.
